I had an (ego style) Johnson Creek Vea do that back when I first started vaping. Same situation as you, aluminum 510 receiver.
Was able to salvage it with a 510 to 510 connector, just like you've done.
Took it one step further though, my DH used just a little bit of JB Weld to secure the 510 connector since the receiver on the mod was so loose. It worked GREAT!!
It's up to you if you want to try it, I'd feel bad if it didn't for you and jacked up your mod, so think about it before you try it, but it did work great for me.
We tried it because as it was, mine was shot, and I had nothing to lose, even the 510 connector didn't stay in place.
So, if you get to that point...it might be worth a shot.

I'll keep that in mind. Mine still seems to have a few good threads down the bottom, enough to hold the connector in place. But if that fails I'll give the JB stuff a shot.
