I am seriously thinking about trying some of the Real Flavors brand. They have some interesting flavors and if they only need 2% I am all in...

Yikes. Are they that concentrated? I'd have to redo all my recipe percentages if that's the case. :lol:

Couldn't pay me enough to use that software. Biggest piece of bloatware you could ever hope to install.

To surf Internet I use an Alienware Area 51 w 6-core I7 with 32GB of RAM...no such thing as slowing this system down. My toy server development system has 10 cores and 64GB RAM.

Norton not looking bad here, PcMag.

I like Kaspersky but would only use it as an AV in VMware hosted client, not my main system. Never trust the Russians for anything, and I mean anything.

That is what I have read in a few posts - the only proof in that would be trying it myself...

Comparatively speaking, might be cost effective to use 'em then. As the commercial used to say, "A little dab will do ya".

Since flavors for me are the one unknown I like to keep my concentrations as low as I can... That is one of the reasons I do not want to be forced into closed systems - I am not controlling what is in there...

The hard part for me is knowing what to try since rebuilding is new for me, like I just tried the Ego One V2 and I really like it! If I hadn't tried it on a whim I would have never known I would like it. I am using it more than my Kabuki clones now, so altho I have a nice collection of different tanks I keep thinking what is out there I missed! LOL

Sounds like you just need to place MANY more orders. ;)

Malware Bytes does not work with Norton installed, and the tools that I gave pointers too work with any AV installed.
Well i used to test AV software against the viruses in my colection of almost 3000 viruses 10 years ago. Norton antivirus NEVER performed well enough for me to recommend.

F-Secure, Kaspersky, and Dr. solomon' AV detected 95% and more of my viruses. NAV NEVRR detected more than 81-82% of my zoo.

Any scanner that missed 250 of my viruses or more i could nog recommend in good conscience.

You're never going to secure a system unless you run OpenBSD with a white list, headless (no x-windows or windows) with lynx, turn off all scripts as a client in VMware vSphere and use VMware NSX to secure your network.

All this gobbeldygook abt secure systems is trite, bordering on cute.

It takes a well set up LAN with barriers to protection, DNS servers, file servers, etc...to run ONE "secure system."

I know Eugene Kaspersky. He asked me to moderate his forum on Compuserve until Compuserve went out of business.

Mr Kaspersky is a nice guy, and the Kaspersky virus detector is top shelf.

the only scanner in his leage is F-Secure

Eugene Kaspersky is a member of Caro (Computer Anti-virus Research Organization)

Only the elite AV developers are members of CARO.

10 YEARS ago Vesselin Vladimirov Bontchev, Wolfgang Stiller, Fridrik Skulasson, Frans Veldman, Klaus Brunsein, Glenn Jordan, Jimmy Kuo, and others were elite enough to be full CARO members

And if you're a corp in USA using Kaspersky and Russia attacks USA, what then?

It depends. The flavors suspended in VG are not all that concentrated, from what I've read, most recommend 8-15%. The testers I made from the 9ml bottles I got from osdiy yesterday I mixed at 10% to give me a baseline.

Now if we're talking about the raw extracts the sell, I'm seeing percentage recommendations in the .5-3% range. I'm hoping to find small VG based sample size bottles to see what flavors I like and then get RE of those in larger sizes.

They do seem to require some steeping time, as the freshly mixed samples I tried were very one dimensional, but I think time will improve that greatly.

Thats what you think.

I am speaking from experience. I protected everything up to Windows 95, and RAN viruses on my Pentium 16 GB ram, and 220 megabyte hard Drive to make sure the AV software worked

My background: I have been in the past a systems administrator working in Silicon Valley for several co, one being a biotech where I caught the Dir of Bioinformatics stealing data. I also secure all systems for my family living in three different locations, ea more than 25 miles away from me. I use to build very complex systems at home with VMware vSphere, Linux, OpenBSD and Windows just for security... security is a real mess. Very hard to do.

I like the URL, VirusTotal rocks, but I don't know if that will keep your credit card safe. The hacks are often on the server and they often do not inject the malware in to the stream down toward client systems.

I'd only shop at places that are big, and well known. They probably have the staff to keep their systems secure most of the time. Every site on the Internet can be hacked using what are known as "Zero Days." Even the NSA and FBI have been hit.

I do not download images from the Internet to my system and I rarely download executeables/pdfs... when I do they are scanned and I run a number of other tools monthly that are designed to work above and beyond Norton AV that I have.

Use an application in Win 10 called "Snipping Tool" to save every image. For those of you without that OS use SnagIt. Grab that portion of your screen and then save it locally. Do not save files from anywhere on the Internet to your system if it can be helped.

I always keep my Win 10 OS up to date. I was using Microsoft EMET but it's a royal pain in the ***. I've asked a few times for downloadable configuration files but nobody has stepped up and it is difficult to tune.

If you are using Win 10, make sure that you have the Windows Anniversary Update to Win 10.
* On the lower right hand side of the Task Bar, click on the "Notification Box."
* Select "All Settings"
* Select "Update and Security"
* Select "Check for updates"
* DO THIS EVERY WEEK!

To secure my Firefox browser which I also ALWAYS keep up to date I use:
* Ad Block Plus
* NoScript
* EFF Badger
* uBlock

To make use of NoScript, you are going to have to allow most (but not all) scripts to run on your favorite and necessary websites, such as banking and ECF. The rest of the tools are for the most part hands off but they may require some tinkering. Security is FREE in some cases but not FREE as in what you put in to learn how to use the tools.

To scan my system for viruses and malware I use the following FREE tools:
* Microsoft Safety Scanner
* Norton Power Eraser
* ESET Tools

Of course I run an anti virus app, and I use Norton Security. I make sure it's up to date once a week. I have one full system scan every day (scheduled) and I have hourly quick scans (scheduled) all day long.

Thank you ... lots of good information. I know I am not nearly as vigilant as I should be.

Thank you, Tommy. My problem with 'free' is it usually only works for a short time (no matter what they say) or they badger you to buy. I have bought some but nothing seems to keep the malware off my computer. I had a scary one yesterday.
avoid clicking ads and visiting sites with pop up ads. a computer freak i used to know told me that many moons ago.. and by killing the browser as soon as i enter a site with too many ads as a habit i havent had 99% of the computer problems others mention. i love pinterest,, but the photos often lead you to a site that has nothing more about the photo,, instead its someone trying to make income on google/whoever ads.-----maybe this will help you ,, and maybe it doesnt apply.

as for pay software,, ever notice the hackers aim for those platforms.. i think some are snooping,, others found a way to get a job/income from the software company,,, idk.. but it doesnt make sense that software you pay for fails...or proves to be no better than the free software.

Maybe if Provape does register with FDA on Dec 31, all they will register is having Procyon and Radius, so they are clearing out everything else??

I personally know nothing about the future of ProVape ... I am just another ProVari customer.

I think ProVape will introduce something to the market after others have already put something approved out there.

ProVape are serious eCig innovators ... maybe the best cigalike ever?

Time will tell

So what is the best free security program, I have McAfee but will go with something else better. Had Norton years ago. Never used Kaspersky, I have it ready to download But not sure what is really best for average users like me!
