Senator warns FDA that GOP will target e-cig regulations

Senator warns FDA that GOP will target e-cig regulations

The reality of a Trump administration focused on rolling back regulations has led a U.S. senator to jump-start efforts to curtail the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s rollout of new rules on innovative tobacco products.

U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., who won re-election Nov. 8, sent a letter Tuesday to FDA Commissioner Robert Califf that warns him that a Republican-controlled Congress and White House will target some, if not all, of the regulations that went into effect Aug. 8 on electronic cigarettes and vaporizers.

Last weekend made me realize I'm not in need of much for my stockpile. Although I'm still planning on adding some more nic, none of my preferred vendors' sales were attractive enough for me to pull the trigger. I'm hopeful some better deals turn up around year end and glad prices remain low for everybody as they continue to prepare.

Along with stocking up I hope all of y'all have or will post your story @ www.greatagain.gov

We need to do our part to let the Trump administration know what the deeming regs are doing to all of us and the millions of others that have not found this miracle yet.

Got a reply from Sweet-Vapes today. No sales. Here is the reply (they're not entirely wrong):

Hello Mike,
We will not be having any sales due to our prices being so low all year wrong. That way everyday everyone gets a deal. I guarantee if you were to look at other websites, if they have any sales or deal, our prices will still be lower.
Thank you
Nik

ETA: Nude Nic is having a 30-percent off sale through Monday night if anyone is interested.

Hey Mike - sweet-vapes is one of my favorite sites too. They don't do big sales that are announced, but they definitely drop prices on individual items (like ecig.com does) with little fanfare - you just have to get lucky and find them. I bought a couple Sigelei 75w and Kanger Subox mini units at 25 bucks a pop, but they didn't advertise those sales at all - I just stumbled into them because I looked. That said, I usually hit up fasttech or myvaporstore because sweet-vapes doesn't ever have a free shipping limit, and I don't like spending the money on shipping when the other sites cover that cost. Thanks for chasing them down though!

Maybe everybody is done stocking up! :)
I have decided not to buy more stuff. Granted I have 3 small orders in transit. ( 1 flavor order 2 NarDa Atty and small parts) I have a very small stash compared to others..but I believe I have enough. Yes I still have occasional shinyistis. But it's under control for now ;)

Not this bunch. ;)

I said I was done AGAIN last week.

Ended up buying a Smok TFV8 tank yesterday and loved it, then proceeded to order over $50 in coils and spare parts (RBA, glass, o-rings) for it.

I'm done now and I mean it!

I quit saying that I'm done. There's always something I want a few more of. After the wife breaking one of her Kangers the other day, and my giving her one of the two Pico's I had in the cabinet, I decided I'd better get a few more.

famous last words....

I am done for a while hopefully. Still need to get my CC's under control and car note paid off (which will take me until the spring). That will hopefully give Trump time to unwind the deeming regs. If he can't/doesn't I will definitely be ordering more mods (pico's for others, more dual/triple battery mods for me) before Aug 2018. I likely don't 'need' any more rda/rta/rdta but there are tons I 'want'.

I'm kinda under the gun here. Gotta get stuff before the new taxes on ecigs here in So. Cal. goes into effect. Have no idea what they will be yet, but it won't be reasonable.
It would be easier to focus on stockpiling if my state had a tax pending. In the mean time I have a fair part but not all of what I plan. I have several more bottles of nic, 4 more mods, and 2-4 more atomizers to get. The cost for that will be about $300, not a stretch, but waiting on the nic means it might have a longer shelf life. I'm trying to get more experience with the couple of mods I'll stockpile looking for problems that might come up in the long run.

What I'm also accumulating, but not counting in the stockpile, are miscelaneous accessories because they are literally dollar items. There is a certain drip tip I prefer so I got ten of them for a dollar each but then took the next step and got a 40 peice bag of drip tip orings for a dollar something from FT. I've also got a size run of orings for the barrel of my atomizer. Those help adjust the fit, not just for replacement because of wear, I've got multiples of the specialized rebuilding tools I prefer because they are dollar items from FT. There is a particular silicone anti slip ring I prefer to prevent leaking for pocket carry so why not get a couple dozen now because they costs almost nothing--from FT. There will be a silicone sleeve for each of the mods for a dollar and change each.

I'm starting to hand make a few accessories. I make a shim to go between the atomizer and the deck of the mod from .030" plastic sheet I have on hand at work. From that same material I made a custom measuring stick to tell me how much e liquid is in the 18 ml bottle I drip from. (I'm the engraver in the custom build shop where I work so I've got a CNC engraver that can mark out small parts from flat sheet.)

I'd like to have a close fitting belt holster for the Pico. Nobody is sellinng that. I'll make something when the inspiration comes. I've got a sewing machine, strap goods and all sorts of velcro products to work with.

The SV rda clone I prefer is a bit fiddly to build on so I'm planning to make a fixture to hold it and position a rod to hold the coil for trapping the leads. To do that I'll need the correct tap.

The one part on my rda's that will probably wear and is not generic is the insulator around the center pin. If prohibition comes I'll take one of my rda's apart and duplicate the insulator on my hobby lathe so I have a supply of those. The thumb nut and screws should be generic and available somewhere.

If things still look grim in 2018 I'll finally open the boxes on the stockpiled mods, check them for good working order and store them in a padded acid free box with silica salt.

The effect of this stockpiling exercise is to freeze my vaping technology and style. That's okay. I'd rather not chase the technology any more. Pipe smoking can be like this. Once you have pipes and a tobacco blend you like things settle down.

Check with @coffeebum , if he doesn't make one yet (pretty sure he doesn't yet) he probably could if you shipped him a spare mod to form a holster for. I love my holsters he made for my rx2/3 and rx200s mods.

Here is a pic of the first one he sent me for testing:

He later sent me one all in black that I haven't snapped a pic of yet.

One way I might end up with a holster is to find one designed for some other application that can be rebuilt or adapted or I'll just tough it out and make something. Where I would use it most is at work and on the motorcycle. I have to figure out how to prevent button pushing, it needs to be draw with one hand and it proably needs to be semi hard, not rigid. To make the project even harder I'd like it to be on a belt clip and so close fitting the whole thing can go in a pocket if necessary. All that points to something that will take fussy hand work to make.

I hacked an old Nokia candy bar style phone sheath for my MVP 2.0 a few years ago.
I'm wearing Carhartts when I have pants on so it just fit.
