Can you buy smaller rolls from Temco like 25 feet or 50 feet?
This is 100' and cost me less than $5 shipped!

Thank you! That's an incredible price. Isn't it really hard to manage with so much wire on the spool? I have a hard enough time with my 25 ft. rolls. I've got some spool tamers that I bought for help with that, but haven't really tried to work with them yet.

No hard to tame at all! I use a hair scrunchie or some spool tamers

Thank you. Alright. I will take your word for it, be brave and put my spool tamers to work on the matter!! I tend to resist change, but I have been out of my comfort zone ever since the Deeming Regs came down, so I need to keep learning and adapting.

Just make sure you hold on to the end as you thread it. And if the spool tamers bother you, the hair scrunchies or thick rubber bands work well too!

I've been using a spool tamer on a 100' roll and it worked great. One thing I noticed, if you pull the spool tamer too tight you can get stray loops of wire emerging at the side of the spool tamer. Loosened it and that didn't happen any more.

My latest stockpiling activity is going well. Due to dodgy eyes and arthritic hands I decided to wind a lifetime supply of coils while I still can. I got quite good at making consistent coils. Been making 20 PT coils in a session, 2 or 3 times a week. Now I've got 180 in the box. Seems like winding coils is the hard part in terms of eye and hand exertion, the rest of building the head is relatively easy.

I have 25 PT heads that I use, with a more in a box somewhere. I assemble them, then when I've used them all I rewick them. I rewick 3 times before I replace the coils. I guessed I would need 100 coils a year, but it might be less than that. I reckon 1000 will see me through and it won't take long to do that many.

After that I'll start stockpiling coils for the Nautilus, which I've just started rebuilding. I've only made 2 Nautilus coils so far and I still have to figure out the best size and resistance. Then Kayfun and Lemo coils. Might want to do a variety of different sizes for them though.

I did buy some stuff recently. Ordered some Provari springs. Last chance to do that. I ordered a bunch of Nautilus parts from Aspire a while ago, that's the only place which sells them. It took a couple of weeks for them to be picked up by the mail service. That was 2 weeks ago and nothing has happened since then. It costs $15 for a base, a cage tank section, and a drip tip. That gives you a complete tank, a lot cheaper than buying one in a box. Got a few sets of them plus some spare seals.

I want to get some of those spool tamers. In the meantime I bend a bit at the end around the outside of the spool and secure it with painters tape - which I also use to label my bottles of diy juice. I love multi purpose items.

I will also tell you Temco's free shipping is quite fast.
Fast and I ordered a spool one day and another the next and they were sharp enough to catch it and ship it all together, got it in just a few days. My wire go-to for sure, and likely to be unaffected by the FDA since they aren't directly vaping related. One less thing to worry about.
I weighed a 250ft reel of 28 and it was 1 1/4 oz. 250ft reel of 30 was 1 7/8 oz. That was LV Kanthal.
Then 1 pound of wire has to be A LOT of wire.
