Yoooooooo! If you click the “Why a bad rap” and scroll down to the video where the stick blows while charging, dude. That is frightening. Anyone know which battery that was?
smok Stick v8, an internal battery mod.

I tried ordering a Oumier Wasp Nano rda from them and it set off my bank’s fraud detection.:thumb:

They thought it was fishy that I was swiping my card in China. I need to get over this nervousness about signing up for PayPal because a few times now searches have led me to Fasttech and I need to get in on that. From what I hear (just here even) PayPal is good at having your back if anything should go awry.

It sounds like what you are describing isn't fraud. My cc banks always call me if it is a larger than normal purchase or from another country. They just want to know if it is a legitimate purchase before they pay it. I approve it and all is well.

Now you have me second guessing myself but I’m pretty sure I had to call the fraud detection part of their set up and do like you said and account for the last 3 hits on the card. Maybe it wasn’t the fraud people but they tie all that together into the same department, I’m not entirely sure how all that works. First time it’s ever happened to me.

What’s going on here is people putting scanners on ATM’s. They put one on the ATM right outside of the Credit Union we’re all a part of which seems pretty brazen to me but I guess it’s the nature of the business.

If your worried just run to Walmart (your in the U.S. right?) and get one of those prepaid Visa cards and put some money on it..

then you set it up online (as to your name, address, phone number) then they mail you the card with your name on it..

takes a few days but once it's set up then all you have to do is put money on it whenever you want to make a purchase..

then you don't have the concern as to your real accounts being hijacked.. that's what most of us do, then we can shop online all we want, without concern.

Hi all. Just wondering how many years you think a mod might last? What’s your plan? That’s not including a mech mod.

I have 7 Picos. You think it’s realistic to assume one would last at least 3 years? I have been running two over the last couple years and no problems with them.

I did make the mistake of reading the shiny thread and ordered an Asmodus Colossal 80 watt. I got red, but green would have been my first choice, if they would have had it at the sale price, lol

I got 8 Picos for the same reason. None have actually died yet but the screen on one of them has started going out. That one is less than 2 years old. One has been going for 3 years. But I have 9 mods in use so each Pico doesn't get used that much in a day. Several other people here have had screen problems with Picos.

No idea how long they last in storage. People who know this stuff say that displays decay over time even when they aren't being used.

I got worried about relying too much on Picos. Picked up a Colossal and some Aegis Solos. It's probably safer to have several different types.

I'm trying a new outlook, today I look at all my stuff and ask myself, this is all you have and you cannot buy anything else, do you regret not trying this or that.... I'm making a short list :)

I do not regret not buying anything. Everything I have. mods and tanks in any combination will work to keep me from ever smoking.

That is the real goal here.

That is exactly what it was. Their security/fraud dept will call you to make sure it is a viable purchase. If you approve it, you sometimes have to go back and put the payment through again since it was originally declined.

Each person does whatever gives them peace of mind. I have no issue using the cc since I appreciate they call me when questionable, not sure if the prepaid ones do that or not. Also, I have had fraud in the past and cc company was great about refunding me immediately.

ETA, another reason I prefer to use my cc is I get cash back for purchases. I pay bills and do everything on that card. I just received 45.00 in cash back rewards. Free money, yay.

@Opinionated, that is probably a far wiser way to do things than I currently am.

It works nicely for me.. you can add money to it in person at Walmart, or do bank transfers to the card (you get a routing number when you get your card).. I've never had a problem with mine either way.

I normally keep a hundred or so on mine, that way surprise emergency "buy now" sales don't pass you by... lol..

I have recently broken a daily driver Pico 75W after at least 3 years. It's been dropped many times, and gotten water on it and juice in it. It won't read an atty reliably anymore but it does turn on. Probably fixable. So in my experience, yes, they will last at least that long, maybe longer if you don't abuse them!

@ Opinionated, are you getting this card where you find the other prepaid cards, usually for me at the end of a checkout aisle? I’ve used ones that are Visa before for online purchases, cost usually around $8-9, but the ones here are one time load so once you use what you initially put on them they’re no longer functionable. Are they mixed in with those or are you referring to something different?

They're probably mixed in, if you cant find the loadable kind then ask someone at customer service where they are..

But your needing the reloadable Visa or Mastercard cards..

Most of my mods are Provari's, the one I bought in 2011 is still working. I do have 3 or 4 Picos in my stash unused. For long term use I went for items that have a good reputation for long use. I have a Dani mini and a JAC also in my stash. So I am hoping they last for a long time. So far the Provari is 8 yrs old and still working :) Anyway just the way I thought for long term.

My last order from FT included a few replacement logic boards for the Pico's.
    https://www.fasttech.com/products/3...ick-pico-75w-styled-tc-vw-apv-box-mod-control

I have a bunch of Pico's too. My first one from when they were released is still going strong. It's also seen a fair share of abuse with drops etc.

Someone in the Pico thread has replaced Pico boards with the FT replacement. The only possible downside is the replacement board isn't compatible with the Arctic Fox firmware. I don't see that as a biggie though.

Well after checking my P3 supply, I noticed I didn't have a polished P3 so picked up another LOL I asked myself will you wish you had another when they are no where to be found in the future, and answer was yes so got it :) I sold most of my mini's and only have 2 left, so another P3 will work.

The Provari Mini's and 2.5's take button top batts, you can still find Provari extension rings and extended end caps on eBay so a mini can take an 18650 size batt. So get them while you can :) My 8 yr old still working Provari is a mini :) They just last and last.
