So which ones do you prefer?

All my heads have the silicone and the one gripe I have about them is they squish too easily and also get sliced somehow, causing shorts.

But I wonder if the rubber ones may be much harder to deal with?

Conflicted!

In my experience the rubber ones tend to become hard and brittle after a while. I prefer the silicone. They do burn and split eventually but they last longer than the rubber.

Someone gave me an old Pro tank recently for some reason, it came with 10 used heads. I was going to rewick them but they were different to the ones I was used to. The slots at the side were too narrow for the drill bit I used for PT coils, and they didn't go down far enough. Don't know if they were a new design, maybe done that way to stop people rebuilding them.

I never used a drill bit to do them. I just held an unbent paper clip with the silica/cotton and wrapped around the whole thing freehand. Use the paperclip to align the coil and slide it out when eevrything is locked down.

Edit: Being a spinner these days I spin cotton yarn from cotton wicking and use that instead of silica.

Those were the days. Still are actually. My wife likes Pro Tanks. A couple of years ago I made 350 PT coils. Pretty sure that will be all I ever need. I have 30 heads and a bag of insulators. The only thing that worries me is the chimney gets loose over time.

I'm pretty well set with the Kanger Subtank Minis/TopTank Minis/SubTank Nanos/TopTank Nanos and their replacement "stuff". I won't personally be using all of this, because they're not my most favorite tanks/coils. Some will be used by friends and a relative, as needed, in the future.

10 SubTank Minis w/RBAs
7 SubTank Minis V2 w/RBAs
1 SubTank Plus w/RBA
6 TopTank Minis w/RBAs
6 Extra RBAs
6 SubTank Nanos
10 TopTank Nanos
14 boxes w/5 packs of various colors replacement o-rings
at least 2 5-packs replacement glass for each tank type/size
16 boxes - OCC 0.5ohm coils (for friends, no subohm for me)
4 boxes - OCC 1.2ohm coils
13 boxes - OCC 1.5ohm coils
4 boxes - SSOCC 1.5ohm coils
7 boxes - SSOCC 1.8ohm coils

Some of the tanks can still be found on US vendor websites in their Clearance sections and also on Chinese sites (ie. VaporL, Sourcemore, etc.). I've bought 9 of the SubTank Minis and 8 of the TopTank Nanos and SubTank Nanos within just the last 3 months.

I didn't know they made an RBA for the Nanos. May have to see about finding some of those.

I thought I knew Kanger inside and out, but you just showed me I'm no Jedi. I didn't know the Toptank Nano existed!

Yep! They're my favorite ones of all that I posted. They came in SS, Black, Pink, Purple, and Blue (actually more of a Turquoise color). They're the tanks that came in the Kanger Subvod Kits and have also been sold individually. The 10 I posted are individual ones, not counting the ones that came with the Subvod Kits in my stash.

You know I think the thing that irritates me the most with this whole government shutdown of vaping/vapocalypse thing is that it used to be you found what worked for you and you rolled with it. If you got something new it was because it looked neat and you WANTED to try a new thing. You didn't have to think about the whole sustainability thing.

SO MANY things I would like to try but I wont now because they either are built in batteries or not rebuildable. I can't justify it. At this point if it isn't rebuildable or replaceable battery I won't touch it.

Cool! I got a Xeta too, looking fwd to trying the SXK BB.
The Xeta is an amaxing little rba. So flexible - tight MTL all the way to restricted DL - and has incredible flavour. Most BB bridges are renowned for creating condensation to the point where there's a whole group of after market addons called condensation plugs. You won't need one with the Xeta. It is by far the dryest bridge. One tip - take a light hand to the post scews. I've heard of people snapping them if they screw down too tight.

Yes, really! :thumb: It's a mech, so the watts you get are going to depend on the coil you use. I rarely vape below 1 ohm, and have been using mechs for many years. The actual watts are going to be pretty low, in the 10-12 range, which is about what I use on a regulated mod.
Well that proves how little I understand ohms law. I probably won’t until I have to use it, which is scary.
I usually run between .5 to .7 ohms at 10 to 12 watts.
Back to steam engine! I want a Luna!!

thanks for the info!

Well, I can quit looking. Didn't take long to find out that Kanger never made an RBA for the Nanos. There were knock-offs sold on FT, but from the reviews...they didn't work very well. Even those show now as "Temporarily Sold Out" as a single RBA and "Discontinued" in the 5-pack. Oh well...

No but hot enough that I worry about the health of the battery
Fair enough. Maybe you should try a lower wattage hair dryer or a heat gun? There's always gonna be some heating up of the battery in the process. I'll google li battery/ heat and get back to you if I find something useful
