So after hitting the part of the Countdown thread when the threats of bans started (around page 80) I’ve switched to reading the old Squonk Prawn (lol, my personal edit) Thread. This has me thinking, too.

Ive got a bunch of these ~$40 mods (not including REOs, Hexohm, Provari) that might last me a year. As many as I have now, including the mods I consider better made and more durable, and being pessimistic, I’ve probably got 20 years’ worth.

Is there value in looking into higher quality devices? I don’t want to feel silly having sunk a lot of money into something that may not have a good shelf life.

Does anyone here have an opinion on this? If you’ve stocked on mainstream devices, do you feel secure with what you’ve bought?
5 REOs + many attys + spare parts I am not worried.

You have a lot more than I do! I think I’m around 25 mods I consider stock-worthy and about 10 I bought a long time ago and put away and don’t consider dependable enough to lean on in scarce times. Plus little cheapies like the Stentorian Rams I bought as “why not” backups.

ETA In my count I do not include the mods I’m currently using, which include the Therion DNA, MVP3, MVP5, and Topside.
My stash is for 2 people though... the wife vapes as well.

I finally bit the bullet and placed a Vaposourcing order for a mod nobody else had at a price I couldn't ignore.

LOL I might do it for a Dicodes... Maybe. But, hope all goes well I mean they ARE high volume they can't ALL possibly angry customers it's just the ones that were angry... Were REALLY angry. I don't need more of that in my life. LOL.

Cool safety feature!
It really is. Skullkandy may fab those in-house. I picked them up to use on other mods that I've retrofit with mm510.

My mech squonkers are, honestly, the real vapocalypse mods. A piece of bent plate metal for contacts and a good 510 squonk connector. They work for either squonking or with non-squonk toppers. Clean the contacts once a month and there's just nothing there to break (replacing 510s and fabbing new contacts is simple, depending on the mod - I pick things that I can rebuild).

Shopping wisely is part of the hunt,,,

What is the value of anything? Well take that "anything" to a pawn shop,,, they will give you $.10c on the $1.00 at best if they are interested. As my son was growing up he got to listen to my rambling about value of products,, about a year after his wedding we were chatting about his rubber/silicone wedding ring to save his fingers,,, I said what about the ring you had at the wedding? Oh i have it,, its nice -bought it at a pawn shop,,, wifes ring is where the money was wasted :)

My hoard stash is quite small,, only 2 regulated mods,,, and 9-11 mechs ( some are more protected than full mechs) I was cleaning up the storage bag,, I figure 50% more will get piffed over the next year or so. Met a sweet kid while back,, he is now using my drunk SMM SERPENT,,, he sure likes her,,, setting him up tomorrow with build gear & wire.

Giving Griffin a break for now,, using Ammit 25 RTA,, runs good but still needs tweaking. Changed coils twice today lol

Few pages ago, someone was asking about FA Magic Mask and MTS vape wizard. MM blocks the sour taste receptors, so it masks sour notes without actually modifying the juice: ph, taste or otherwise. If the sour notes are not wanted, use it, e.g. tobacco, cream. If they are part of the taste profile and desirable, don't. e.g pineapple, green apple (most fruits), yogurt.
Same applies to MTS. MM is one ingredient in MTS.

To reduce harshness of nicotine, add acid flavoring simulating the making of nic salts. Citric, malic and tartaric acid. Sour, sour&tart concentrates (plus many fruits) contain these. But they don't work well with some recipes (sour coffee?). Here either add MM to mask it , or better yet reduce nic mg levels or switch to cleaner tasting nic.

I feel fairly secure with what I have, but one never knows how long stuff will last. I know my original Provari lasted 8 yrs, so that's what my biggest bet is on. That and lots of Kayfuns :)

I have a rosefinch I will vape someday, so pretty! I could not resist. But I have more of a beginner setup I need to get into dealing with first. It is NEATO. LOL. It is OLD. It has serial number and tank and I got it for a STEAL.

With that said, I am not in the right frame of mind... yet. Frantic sort of describes me. This too shall pass.

The Ephro Prime, that is what I have! It's a very nice, heavy, durable hybrid and I vape it without too much unease, LOL.

I kind of.. I bought 8 Eleaf Invokes for the vapocalypse and I left them all packaged up because they were pretty tightly sealed .Not humid around here, but my vapes in boxes go in ziplock bags (it is dusty) and that's about that.

Hmm. I have some tube mods out to put away, I think. It's a good idea but I think vacuum sealing may be overkill somehow.

New mods that are expensive do get opened and checked.

Ooh. I feel all oraganized. I do NOT need a display case for my mods I am trying to stay a ZERO profile vaper in Douglas I don't want to show them off.

So no case.. Also, if I have ONE complaint about Mexican culture, it's like the differential in personal space.

I like to scan and bag my items and I like to do so ALONE in peace, not with some kid driving his car on the conveyer belt and/or mommy loading up HER stash before I load up MINE. I usually say, "I am really sorry but I may need this area to unload, could you move back." Instead of my first thought which is usually "Do you want a free tonsillectomy?"

I don't think they are going to steal my stuff, I don't think ANY of that but I do think a tutorial of how to NOT lodge yourself in my .... crack would be useful.

I give up once I have scanned. The next person in line loads u/p their CRAP. And, I carefully and quietly put ALL my plastic bags in like the cart, before I even BEGIN to pay. How swiftly that may happen depends on the obnoxiousness demonstrated..

Oh, I would USE the cashiers but that is even WORSE. They're like piled up on TOP of each other there and it's the folks who cannot use the machines. l would slowly go MAD in there and wind up escorted to the nearest psych unit for screaming.

You know, the melting pot it can be great (spicy fondue) or terrible (I am going to season your (usually fat) child and roast him over a spit for my melting pot.

I realize personal space is a pet peeve of mine but I significantly did not clinically get enough as a youth in many ways and I SWEAR if there were a riot I would probably run TOWARD the problem to get some dang.... . PEACE and safety cushion. LOL

I would bet that I have way more mods than I need. I've been vaping since 2012 and have only had 2 mods stop working, but they were internal battery mods. Everything else I've ever bought still works, including 2 Vamos that were my first mods. The 510 on one of them is very sloppy, so ever since I've used something to protect my 510s (I like the heat sinks FastTech has the best). 4 of the mods I use every day were bought in 2015/2016 and still work great. A couple have peeling paint, but a sleeve covers them up just fine.

And none of my mods were very expensive. I doubt that I've ever paid more than $40 for a mod. Some I got on clearance for $5-$6. I've heard of people having problems with Provaris in the time span I've been vaping on a cheap old iStick 100. So either I'm very fortunate, or I'm much easier on my mods, or there really isn't a huge amount of difference in quality between mods. At any rate, I'm not worried that I'll ever run out. And even if I did, I also have 8 mechs. :D

Just an FYI, Breazy is the only online vendor I know of that charges state vapor taxes (for state's that have one) at checkout. lol.

And they get it wrong for my state because the vapor tax in my state only applies to full kits and eliquid (this was decided 2 times in state court on 2 separate lawsuits from state retailers). But Breazy charge the tax on everything in the cart.

They never have anything I want anyhow. Just an FYI if you live in a vapor tax state and you can't figure out what that huge tax is they are charging.

I’m beginning to feel the moral to this story is I should stay out of threads dedicated to products owned by serious collectors and aficionados lol. I was a mess back in 2015 when I decided to get involved with REOs. Thankfully, my case of shinyitis diversified away from hoarding too many of those. :)

I have been buying mechanical squonk mods because they are easy to repair in the long-term, the parts are non-vape related for the most part, and electronics are non existent. Safety on shorting then goes on my build, instead of relying on a chip to protect me from idiotic recklessness. That said, having a few regulated mods is nice for testing builds on. They are not used much, but provide peace of mind. At this point in vaping, I don't think any purchases are bad ones. We're fighting a Vaping drug war, buy what you want, while you still can. It won't be long before easy purchases are a thing of the past.

What's so great about WizardLabs nic that it's $100 for 100mg/liter?

Genuine question from a noob who just paid 1/3rd of WL's price @ $34/ liter at HV.

I got my first nic 5 years ago from WL. Mainly because I saw a few posts here saying it was good nic. Back then I don't think there was as much variation in the price of nic so it wasn't a big deal. I got stocked up on nic within a year. Got my mixing gear and flavoring there as well. Still get flavoring there. If I find a place I like I tend to stick with it. Though I did get a liter from NN a couple of years ago when they had a killer sale price.

I really have no clue whether there is any difference in quality between different nics.

Darn. I never really looked into RS until now. Had I known they had 250mg, I may have opted to buy a couple 250mg liters from them instead of heartland, to save space in my freezer & use bottles. Price per 100ng comes out to be the same as HV 100ng (regular price)

No use worrying about it now, though.
Only RS offers 250 for retail I guess. Space saver for sure. I Want some of that stuff. But not until they ship my order placed on CM :grr:
