I know this isn't going to be popular with a lot of people as the USPS seems to largely have a bad reputation in the USA in general.
But I have to make a shout-out to my local USPS. They are very good at helping me when I have a problem with a package (sending or receiving).
My latest problem was with a FT order. After tracking showed it reached US customs, it went to a "metro" distribution center. Then it showed "moving through the USPS network and on it's way to it's destination". Was like that for 12 days. The tracking was also doing weird things like showing expected delivery dates that kept on dropping or changing. Usually, after tracking shows it reached US Customs, it's delivered to me in about 4-7 days.
So I put in a request through USPS.com, asking where the package is.
The same day, I got a call from someone at my local PO about it. They weren't much help because they still hadn't investigated, just wanted to tell me they are working on it.
2 days later I got another call from the same guy, still not much help but was calling to say they are still working on it and gave me some tracking information (yes, they have tracking data that doesn't always show on the consumer end). Made me feel like things were getting done.
The next day (yesterday), got a call from a supervisor telling me that he reached out to the PO where it was last scanned (not showing on the tracking on my end) and are waiting to hear back. But also told me that he hopes it's not a case where the label was destroyed (insinuating that there would be little to nothing they could do). Fingers-crossed.
Today, I looked at the tracking and lo and behold the package is now found/unstuck and reached my regional DC, about 5 miles from my local PO! No expected delivery date showing, but I expect it will be delivered tomorrow. It was scanned at the DC at 7am this morning, which I suppose was too late to get on a truck. No biggie. Not worried unless it's not delivered tomorrow. My only worry is that the package is all mangled up with missing items, but I'll just have to wait and see.
This isn't the first time my local PO has helped me out with sending or receiving issues. It really comes down to your local PO. I happen to have a very good one (for the most part).
