Guess what I just found out...Some orings swell and get larger in diameter if soaked in 50/50 white vinegar/water solution. I have never had this happen before.

I recently bought some second-hand atties from someone who said they were cleaned in an ultrasonic cleaner yet when I received them they were filthy and smelly as he||. Juices used were coffee and creams and the smell of these juices these nauseates me and are hard to get off even metal.

So anyway, I find that on most parts of attys soaked 50/50 white vinegar/water solution, you can get rid of most eliquid flavor smells if you soak long enough in this solution.

So they've been soaking probably 5-6 days or so. Went to go rinse them today and found 2 of the larger orings on these atties had become enlarged probably about double size. lol I've never had this happen before with orings. (I have had cheap fasttech orings become distorted if rinsed in tap water that is super hot, though.)

I don't know if it was the water or the vinegar that did this (or both). It happened on only 2 orings. All the other orings are just fine.

Anyhow, thought this was interesting. Not a big deal becuase they are just regular oring and are a dime a dozen. But this would be a problem in a vapocalypse situation with proprietary seals that can no longer be bought and cannot be substituted with orings.

Side note: I don't usually buy used atties, but I went against my policy this one time. Sure enough, the experience confirmed to me why I have a "no used atties" policy and why I will stick to this policy from here on out.
I'm guessing the vinegar ate away at some protective layering, and allowed water to penetrate into the oring?

This chart gives chemical resistance of different o-ring materials.
Looks like EPDM would be best with vinegar.
Buna... maybe for a short exposure.
    Silicone... not good.
Let them sit, they may shrink back to size after a while.

Dovpo Colleges up on HC for $45.67 with code "college".
Dovpo College 60W DNA60 Box Mod

This deal is no longer available apparently - I think HC realized they made a huge boo boo. Sad face. New price change has been increased to $62.99 via notification from @440BB.

Ratsa whole Rotta Swelling Going On.

It sure is. I was shocked when I saw it. 3 days ago I looked inside and didn't see them. Today, they were just sitting loose not attached to their respective atties.

Being just regular old orings, it's not a big deal thankfully.

It came up discounted to $62.99 for me, about $71 shipped. Still a good price but $45.67 sounded better lol.:D
Wait what? The "college" code only gave you a 20%ish discount? Lemme see.

Oh wow, I just went back and threw another in the cart and yeah - they must have realized they messed up, lol. I knew I should have got 2!

This is what I was charged earlier this morning.

I also purchased a Hellvape Hellbeast RDA, so that's where the other $17ish is coming from.

Once in a while these pop up and I've hesitated, they realized it or everybody jumps on it, and *poof* they're gone. Congratulations on pulling the trigger while you could!

Did you end up getting one anyway?
No, I was iffy about it even at the lower price as I'm pretty well stocked. I would have likely buckled for a black one as I was going through checkout, twice! Another DNA device at less than $50 is hard to pass up.

Yeah, that's why I kind of regret not grabbing a second one, haha. This will be my first SBS and DNA mod.

I am so glad I got the Argus, have a Zenith tank on it now, love this light dual batt mod :)

All right all right that's enough... I made a very tough decision to buy (3) Vaporesso Gen-S Ultra over the Argus GT simply because I didn't want extra tanks I didn't like to deal with but you're really rubbing this one in my face!

So... I've got three Argus GT on the way. Hope the Black/Blue looks nice because that's the only color they had.

HONEY25 for 25% off put (3) Voopoo Argus GT kits at $95 shipped at ejuices.com

    Now I'm done?

    Want the tanks?

    Correction:
The 2 orings were from the same atty. But one grew larger than the other. The larger one is definitely more than 2x it's normal size lol. Judging from the atty, they should be the same size. They are also kind of harder than they should be. This has to be from the vinegar, not the water.

I'm guessing the vinegar ate away at some protective layering, and allowed water to penetrate into the oring?

Vinegar is an acid. There's a ton of replacement o-rings out there that were bought on the cheap by the person replacing the o-rings. Many o-ring materials swell when exposed to acid. Viton and Nitrile (Buna-N) o-rings are most commonly used by manufacturers of rdas and the like, because of their good temp ratings and resistance to a wide range of ph values, along with other things.

Some knotheads buy polyacrylate, fluorosilicone, or whatever's cheapest on the list and can handle the heat. Then, they're sad when the juice causes them to swell, because they scratch up their pretty rda or break the glass on their rta trying to get the cap back off.

Worse, some cinnamon-type flavors and the like munch down on the generic material of their "great deal" o-rings, and they don't know they're vaping the byproducts until the cap falls off or the tank drools all over them.

They're vaping a chemical concoction and don't even know it, perhaps for weeks.

Anyway... KNOW your o-ring material. I don't buy used tanks and such, but if I did, I'd replace all o-rings.

Yep. Automotive fluorosilicone o-rings. Great at high temps. Not so good for vapers.
