I have been working on a cinnomon danish recipe for the last couple of weeks. I really like the vendor XXXX brand that I bought premade. I have been toiling over this recipe. I have tried several verisons of this and that. Searched the boards, yada yada yada..
Don't get me wrong the recipes, that I was making were good, vapable for sure but just not that ...... That I was hunting for..

I desided I need a different base flavor and began the seach for that..

Having run threw all my test samples, last night and in disgust I loaded my evod with Vendor XXXXX's brand. I figured that I would order a few different base flavors today and start re engineering process all over.

I began vaping vendor xxxx's brand and guess what?

My recipe is just as good. One of them better and that next addition that I have running threw my head will make it even better.

So, maybe we are harder on our own creations because they are ours and remembering vendor xxxxx's with more value than it worth.

My thoughts

So true. We are harder on ourselfves. I've mixed several test batches of somthing I've been trying to clone and tasted them right away, let them steep the proper amount of time, expressed steeped and would get so fed up that I would shelf them intending to just forget about the horror show I just created. Then I would have a change of heart and mind and go back to them a day later and find wow it actually does taste like what I was trying to do. I think in our fustration our taste buds have a nervous break down and then come back to there senses a day or two later.

I've made good and vapeable juices, and I've made them once. Unless they make me just do that "Omg WOW!" they usually dont get made again or even tweaked.
The OMG WOW juices are the ones that get a name and a reguler brewin...

I think OMG wowcomes from Good but let's make it better.IMO

I have priorities re DIY stuff. I actually find most my stuff better than pre made but that, for me is still not saying a whole lot about how "good" it is. Some are great, most are good. Thats good enough for me! But when i was doing a lot of art, nothing was good enough. Well one or two out of hundreds but two teachers and many classmates felt that i was great! That was fun but still didnt change my own opinion. Same with horsemanship. Never good enough. I think the people whos priorities about e juice are more like my priorities for art and horsemanship will actually always be a lot better than they realize

Want to clarify. I think e juice is more than half the experience but the reason im OK with just good is because dang....its soooo much better than stinkies! And wow! Look at the convenience and savings!

The savings are crazy,I just ran one recipe and my supplies and it came out to 5 cents a ml. It would prolly be cheaper if I had bought larger sizes. It's almost crimminal to charge 1.00 a ml like some places do.

This is the reason I tend to not try to "clone" any of my ordered juices from the past. I don't think I could ever get it JUST right. I make what might sound good at the time with the flavors I have on hand and tweak until they're how I think I want them.

There's also that part of me that always thinks something could use a little more of this and/or a little less of that. If I've made it myself I can change things around for the next batch, if I've bought it that's just the way it will be. For example: Voodoo Kitty - fine juice the way it comes from Timeless Vapor BUT in my opinion maybe a tad more grape than I'd want - out comes the Absinthe and grape flavors and a mixin I go

I might have had an opposite situation recently.

I think my DIY stuff is pretty good. Not excellent but pretty good.

Anyway, I made an order with Ahlusion just to investigate the hype and it was one of those...."yeah this stuff is in a whole other class" type of moments.

I'm not going to quit DIY b/c i like the hobby, but I just know I have a lot of work to do lol.

Once I stopped trying to make something similar to what I had bought pre made in the past, I found that I am really enjoying the whole DIY experience. I extract my own tobacco flavors and have found that everything I made to date was good in its own respect- just not what I was trying for at the time so I shelved them. Last night I pulled a bottle and vaped it for awhile, and I was pleasantly surprised with my creation. Sure, it will never be xxxxxx, and it most likely has something to do with the feeling of accomplishment, but I am happy with my humble creations and that is enough for me!

It may not be vendor xxx brand, but it might be better if judged on it's own merit

I see so many of you mixing many different kinds of things. From pineapple to cinnamon to smokey and fruity.
It was like that for me my first 6 months because I thought if I liked to eat or drink it, I should like to vape it.

Now I am definitely not or was the master mixer so that probably played a part in why NOW, I only shoot for one type of flavor.
I can't do fruits, can't do just plain smoke, can't do menthol or cool. I always use the same flavors and when I've finally finished tweaking, I'm right back to the one and only flavor that works for me.

You guys make me jealous so many times when I read because I feel like I'm missing out. :?:

The enhancers are what I have my eyes on now but I know if I choose to experiment, I must start measuring exactly:unsure:
