ours are li po

and LiIon at the same time! :) LiIon is a more general term and includes a few sub-varieties. LiPol is just one of the newer ones :) It's like LCDs which can be TFT-LCD, IPS-LCD and a bunch of other things.

Anyway, what's interesting about that paper is that it kind of closely simulates conditions in modern e-cigs. It studies 18650 batteries which are actually used in many big APVs today, battery is discharged with 1.4A current which is very close to what we have in Volt batteries, and they tested it over 300 charge-discharge cycles which is a typical e-cig battery life claim these days (including Volts).

And the verdict is that 300 cycles is a really very realistic claim :)

Yeah! I have a 18650 samsung in my hands right now which can deliver 25Amps.
I also have a panasonic which can deliver 10A, that is all manufacturer specific, the same batteries exist with a lower discharge rate.
Depending on how the manufacturer made the battery you can have different discharge rates.
Volt batteries are made to be discharged at this rate.

Hello. I received my first vaping starter kit with two automatic 78mm batteries last Friday. I love the Volt but I think I'd prefer the shorter 65mm batteries. Since I do most of my vaping at home I'm not really concerned about extra-long battery life.

One thing I like about the Volt is it's supposed to be a pretty easy draw for an auto-battery (as I understand it). The only difference with the shorter battery is the battery life, right? The "ease of the draw" won't be any different than it is with the longer battery, correct?

Thanks.

And I'm on the other side of the coin - I prefer autos cuz I didn't push a button on my cigarettes so it feels unnatural to do it now. I don't think the draw or warmth is any different, but maybe that's just me. I have 14 batteries and only 1 of them is manual, which I never use now but bought when I started out cuz everyone said I should. :p Gawd, 14 batteries - I need help

The draw was way different for me, but I think it's because I never drew hard enough to turn the auto on!
I like manuals because I never got the hang of the breathing technique to get the autos to activate right. I always got light-headed, like I do when I do yoga breathing.

No, no passthrough. Could we just charge them on the regular chargers?
What she said!!! I wouldn't care on the pass -thru part. If I recall & interpret Rave correctly - we are wanting a shorty for "odd" times vs frequent ... Did I get that right Rave????? For me it would be when I'm mowing mainly - maybe out on horseback ... LOL - not that vaping will do much for the bugs! Oh NO! Hope I don't want to go back to tar-bacco because of bugs!

Take a look at "The Battery University". There's a ton and a half of information about lithium ion batteries including charge, discharge and load rates. I think one of the things that "saves" them in this case is that the discharge cycle is relatively short, as in a max of a few seconds and is also limited by the ASIC to prevent overheat damage. I suspect that vaping keeps them well within safe parameters and keeps them at a reasonable life cycle, otherwise SI and everyone else would go broke on guarantees. I can't say I've ever noticed a battery getting hot or warm from use, even if I furiously chain vape, just an observation and certainly not proof positive.
I've had a Clearomizer get rather warm - enough to make removing the cap difficult - slightly warped it ... never noticed the battery doing so ...

No - you have: backups for the backups for the backups!
So, Who has more: You or Rave??? I HAD a lovely assortment amounting to one nice dozen - baker's dozen if I count the Mystic that I tried waiting for my first kit ... Um - caution - easy to loose them from pockets when mowing!

I have both auto & manual in the 78's - the 4 X2's are manual. I prefer the 78's in auto because I find my finger gets sore if I'm really vaping a lot using the manual. I also find I'm letting go and quickly pressing it again to 'get enough' from the vape. I don't feel I need to do this with the X2's. I've not tried an auto in the X2. It has a very nice feel to the button and happily - my lung capacity is no where near maxing the cutoff on these! I think it's worth trying both on the 65 or 78's. Then you'll know what feels best.
In general I actually prefer the size of the 650(?) mah. I frequently use the 900's tho. I have 2 of each size. 2 black/ 1 Purple/1 Green!

Oh - sorry - WELCOME! to the new people!

You guys are talking about these, right?

Cute! :)
But what makes these preferable to a 78mm with a CE3 type carto?
Is it just the "cute" factor were rallying for?

Sitting down, facing forward.
Just a question - I'm using the mini drip tip that came with the CE3s. Can I use a regular SI comfort tip with these or will it crack the top of the CE3? Sorry of this is a dumb question - I was up until 3am on a project.

I've been using a comfort tip on a CE3 since I got the CE3. I stuff it all the way in until it's touching the inner silicon seal and haven't had a problem, yet.

Thanks for all the responses. I think I'll stick with the auto-battery for now.

'Nother question: Could someone compare the sizes of the regular carto's with the CE3 carto's? Bigger? Smaller? Longer? Shorter? Identical?

I just did a double check and a CE3 is the same length as an XL, 1.5ml, cartomizer. A regular, 1ml, cartomizer is 1 and 7/16 inches long while a 1.5ml or CE3 is 2 and 1/16 inches long so a CE3 is about 1/2 again as long as a regular, 1ml, cartomizer.

I may be mistaken, and someone please correct me if I am, but on one of Mroutlaw's videos I believe I heard that it is important to fill to the suggested point in order to achieve a vacuum. If you fill up less than that, it can leak. I've been doing that, and have had no trouble.

Here are some less obvious things i have tried to stop leaking and it seemed to help (some could be superstition but last few i filled havent leaked). Some of the more obvious stuff in outlaws vids i wont repeat (like pulling out the air & filling upside down)

- fill to the wick hole, like rave said (not completely full & not below either )
- if u remove the valved seal when cleaning, then lick or wet it when u re-assemble it, maybe this helps the circumference seal.
- i let my ce3 sit for 30mins, with the battery side down after filling. Then i turn over and check 30mins. i vap a couple times and let sit.

I don't breath in to activate it, I use more of a sucking action to get vapor into my mouth first, like drinking from a straw. Then inhale that.
