Damn thats gotta cost at least $100 an hour.LOL you know I'm kidding right. What I don't get is Chinese cloning Chinese devices. I understand the other but like the Kanger Sub you cna get the real thing for $45 clone for $27 or so. Kanger is putting out some good stuff but mine had a little crunchy threads. I even checked the authenticity and it was a real one. My EH Pro KFLplusV2 clone is really nice. It doesn't quite have the airflow of the original but tastes just as good.

I know you're kidding, I just hate when some other people bash clones. I buy nothing but clones and no problems with them at all.

Any tips or tricks with getting good old part 14 out so that I can clean it good and proper? It definitely needs it. I tried to get away with just going all sonic cleaner on it since I could not get that piece out, but serious machine oil flavoring which is soooo not my ADV. Machine oil has way more throat hit than I like as well.

Took me quite a few soaks of boiling water and dish soap, ultrasonic cleaner runs, and alcohol soaks to get it clean.

Are you just having an issue getting the part out? Or getting it clean? If you cannot get the part out it is a 6mm socket, that will take it out right away.

so, my KF v4 will be here either tomorrow or day after. it's FT black o-ring. what kind of problem am i looking at?

aqua v2 arrived few days ago. it's working like a charm. waiting for tfgt v2.

O-ring #16 is a bit on the small side and will cause leaks into the air chamber and eventually out of the air holes and ring. I just ordered a bunch of o-rings slightly bigger to fix this. Other than that, it's been great. Just waiting on the glass section that was shattered during shipment. FT was fast to approve and replace it but it has a 7 day restocking time.

Ok well I guess I did the foil thing wrong, I didn't know it had to be REALLY thick. So you're pretty much just taking up that space that's in there? Does that allow #3 to tighten to #9 without tightening down #9 on it's own? I think I seem to have got it without the foil, I just assembled all the bottom parts but tightened #9 just right to before it stopped turning. Only problem I have now is that the airflow is so gurgly but not leaky. I can't get a nice smooth airflow going.

I really probably should have explained it that way as well as how to determine the thickness needed first, it was still a thought in progress at the time. I wanted to have mine (clone) before posting but it appeared it couldn't wait.

@dwcraig,

I think you said that you have an authentic as well. If so, it might be worth trying to swap out the A7 seal ring to see if that works. It is possible that the problem is the seal ring being too thick and not the well being too deep. Just a thought.
#7 is a Teflon ring, I thought the same about it's being perhaps too thick. Somehow I can picture me getting the parts of the authentic and the parts of the clone mixed up during comparison. Time to check the mail, it comes late int he day here (end of the US)
I plan to compare the parts, mic them as necessary.

3:11PM, not here yet

adjust the #7 plastic seal ring. If it were not as thick that would serve the same purpose as we are talking about now. But I cannot come up with a solution as that exact size seal ring would be needed but just not as thick unlike a rubber o-ring which you can make work. If anyone has any thoughts on that let me know

The red oring clone I got from Focal was missing #7, after a bit of looking through my stuff for an appropriate replacement I used the white top from a pill bottle, not the one with cams, but one with the cap you can switch around to defeat the child guard feature. The cap was almost perfect, close to the proper thickness, easy to work with, cut the center hole, then trimmed the outside with a sharp knife, used a bit of sandpaper to adjust the thickness. Would have been nice to get one with it, but my self made replacement is working fine.

lol, yeah don't mix up the parts.

It is really nice that you have the original to compare to. The way that I see, the issue has to come from #3, possible #4, #5, #7, or #8. Once we figure out where the actual problem occurs we can either come up with a solution or find a replacement part from another clone (like the FT ones) that will work.

I am starting to worry that raising the deck on #3 is not going to work, as the amount it needs to be raised might be too much for the #9 screw to catch properly. I have a washer that I am going to try when I get home (about 2 hours) and will report what I find.

edit: also I contacted codevape about the issue. Not hopeful that I will get a response, but I figured it was worth a shot.

That's interesting. If we cannot come up with a better fix I may just try sanding the #7 ring it came with. I first would like to know where the actual problem lies.

Think Ebay buyer protection that's why I bought mine from their Ebay side of things.

Exactly, give me an hour, I'll have that info.
3:48 pm, still not here, going to stalk the mailman, not the first time by any means.

Yeah, me too. I don't think that if I wanted to send it back it would be an issue. I would just rather not go through that. Then I have to wait for another Kayfun!

Also, thanks for the help and time you are putting into this.

I got it,
It has extra o-rings spring and screw driver
Smells really bag of oil
Mine has the clearance defect
# 7 clone .045, #4 authentic .037 ( probably reading off a bit, probably 1 mm)
# 4 clone .057, #7 authentic .060
I need to go out, I'll get back to this in a bit.

You got a screwdriver! I didn't, but I didn't care too much as I have small ones around that worked fine. Cannot wait to hear what you find.

Oh, and the oil was bad. I cleaned it with alcohol, then dish soap. That didn't work so I scrubbed each piece with dish soap and a toothbrush and poured boiling water and let it sit for an hour. did that twice making sure that plenty of soap got in all of the little holes. that seemed to do it for me.
