Sounds like you did your home work :)
I do 6 wraps 28 gauge around a 3mm bit about 1.2 ohms at 16 watts, OJC = My sweet spot:) Perfect for MTL good clouds and flavour. Only thing is it uses the juice like crazy!

Thanks for the previous 266 pages.
Makes the decision easy:
Tobeco Kayfun V4 SS
Kayfun V4 by Tobeco - RBA - Rebuildable
$19.99

1st RBA for me.
I find the flavor of stock coils lacking for me after just a few days = $$$
So past ready to move on.
Pennies for a frequent wick change -> basically equals free after a month.

The V4 added top fill made me pull the trigger.
Needing a screwdriver to bottom fill was unappealing to me.

I like a long, slow, MTL vape with a cooler/tight/flavorful draw at low wattage.
Seems the Kayfun is the perfect choice.
Considered the Subtank mini also.

Considering the above, I feel the following build to be good for me:

28ga, 2.4mm ID, 10/9 wraps, 1.8 ohms, OJC wick. Sub 10 watts would be nice.
(edit: on an IStick 30W)

Sound about right? Recs?

Should be here in a few days!!!

@capthook good decision. Vapes OK even at 5 watts. But that hotter wattier vape sure tastes!

Glad to hear!
My favorite tank so far is the K1 @ ~7W.

I ran across the mesh wick youtube vid a few weeks ago, and saw your earlier posts about it.
How's that working out?
Seems a good way to reduce maintenance.
The guy said he'd been using same build for 1.5 months with just cotton leg changes.
Thinking I might like to check out that down the road.

I finally gave rayon a go in one of my kf4 clones. Seems to be doing well. Not sure if I used enough, never really use rayon, but it looks OK to me after two tanks.

That looks good. Question is is it wicking good? If so you got it right. You can put a fair amount in the coil it doesn't swell or shrink much.

Sent with no malice and not a whole lot of forethought from my new Galaxy Tab 4. Thanks Santa!

How do you guys keep the wicks / coils so clean after two tanks? My coil has a good coating of gunk on it and my wick is usually a very dark brown after only one tank... I can stretch it to two, but I pretty much have to re-wick / dry burn after every tank...

What are you vaping in it?

Homework? Was an OCD pleasure.
Interesting to see on here the comments of many moving to the larger ID coils - moving away from the 1.5 coils.
2.4 seemed a happy middle to start.

Usually around 14-16 watts. I've tried turning down the power but the flavor just doesn't pop for me at lower wattages.

I think he meant what kind of juice? Dark coloured juices gunk up wicks a lot faster. I find with the V4 my wicks last a lot longer than they did with the FKL+
I can fill my V4 at least 10 times on one wick no problem But I'm running all light coloured juices :)

I find bigger diameter coils wick better and give more flavour :)

Looks like you've got enough in the coil to me. Cotton expands when wet where as rayon does not. One way to tell that you've got enough in the coil is that you will hear a "squeaking" sound moving it back and forth in the coil.

Have a look at the wick after a tank. As long as it hasn't collapsed (lost contact with the coil) at the ends, you're good to go.

Post up in the Rayon thread in the "Wick & Wire" sub-forum if you have any questions.

Has anyone tried flying with the kf4 yet?

Noticed smth interesting. Took 5 flights over the past 1 week. Before that I was thinking to myself the JC is the best thing to happen for flying with RTAs since that means no more leaking on flights.

As it turns out, I forgot to turn off the JC on 4 flights, and no leaks at all. A slight gurgle when I took my stealth vape, but not a drop leaked. Who would've thunk.

Upside down works for no leaks on atties of this nature.

AH yes that's what I've been doing prior to the k4. But once in a while I bring a long a bunch of extra ones in my bag and it becomes a wet sticky mess :D

Don't throw out that stickey mess!

Same thing happened 2 me some time ago, leaking 1 atty of peach and 1 of menthol ice. Got to the hotel, dribbled it in a tank. Delicious, now peach ice is one of my favorite diy brews :)

Hahahahaha most of the sticky mess are absorbed into the pockets of my bag :p

I guess I could always squeeze it into a tank :p
