I have a feeling that the tighter the choke, the lesser the impact of the airflow ring settings. So it's a gradation of sorts...and probably fairly subjective, hence the conflicting accounts given here.

It would be nice if SM would release some literature on these airflow chokes, so we would know how to utilize them best.

When mine get here, I'm going to use the widest choke first, and test all four airflow settings.
I imagine Setting One with the Wide Choke will give me just that much more restriction, to make the KF5 tight enough for me.

As I've said before, it's just a bit airier than my KF4, with the airflow screw flush.

The KF5 Setting One is nowhere near as restricted as the KFL/+/v2...so I don't know why they advertised it as such.

The new istick Pico in silver brushed arrived, as well as the svoemesto MTL kit.

I ordered the kit not because of a tighter draw, but I was curious about possible taste improvements. long story short, I could not taste a difference. But I will test in parallel once my second K5 arrives.

The kit fits perfectly in the hole, tight enough not to move, but lose enough to be easily removed.
K4_reduct_0.jpg

It can be pushed down and fits perfectly. It adds about 0.5mm to the height of the airhole and about 1.5mm to its width.
K4_reduct_1.jpg

When installing the coil, you need to pay attention that you do not shorten it. I therefore pushed it up a litte with the screwdriver. It wouldn't have shortened out without, but it was to close for my taste...
K4_reduct_2.jpg

The AFC control still has effect and you still can change the draw, but of course within a smaller range.

And the new silver brushed Pico fits perfectly, although I am still looking for a high quality mod with an Evolv chip in that size...

THANK YOU, Sockeye, for the HUGE up close pictures!!!!
Why hasn't the manufacturer provided such pics?
Ugh SM is tripping all over their own feet with this product.
Things (vape related) must be bad in the EU.

Extended sizzle followed by burnt hit:

I'm getting this today from my V5 (happens occasionally with my MV3). Quick fix is to close JFC, open top cap (if you hold next to ear, there's a little "pfft" of air pressure relief) and close. Any theories as to what's causing this pressure build up? I used to get this with shorter contact coils in my KFL. Next coil I'l shoot for 1.6Ω instead of the 1.5 I've got in there now.

I got the KF 5 one week ago. I got my first KF 3 today. KF3 wins big time. I am MTL vaper. I already ordered the restrictor kit. My KF 5 will remain unused until I get the kit.
Seems like there are a number of us waiting for that M2L kit. If I had no other alternatives, I would use my K5. But I have the KM3 that I am very happy with. I can put my K5 on ice until the restrictor kit becomes available.
But that said, Svoemesto should be giving this M2L kit top priority with its production capacity because their claim that the lowest setting is equivalent to the KFLs is plain false. As a result, there are many K5 purchasers who cannot use their atomizer.

BTW, CdV is out of stock on the M2L kits. No surprise.

Mine developed a wiggle. When it is attached to the ProVari, I can lightly shake the thing and it has a very noticeable wiggle. Like it is sitting loose on the provari but it isn't. Distracting :(

I had this problem, the "Wiggle" comes from the center pin at the bottom of the 510 connection. You need to adjust it, probably tighten it a bit more.

Thank you :)

It happened again on me. At least I knew what it was. Coincidentally, it seems to happen when I'm putting the airflow back to 1 after accidentally moving it while trying to take something apart or just turning the juice control.

Quite the learning curve on this thing :)

I still maintain that reverse threaded juice control would make this device 1,000x easier to use. It's such a tight fit as it is, that forward threading just unscrews it from my Provari when I'm trying to open the juice control.
Sounds like it would also stop your problem.

Gee, that little 510 screw sure doesn't thread into the base very far does it? I get like 1-1.5 turns in and it's tight. I feel like if I sneeze hard enough it will pop off!

I haven't had any trouble with my KM3s coming off the mod. Just got to hold the base with your thumb. It's second nature now.

That's what I always try to do, but I end up having to get a damn near death grip on the thing to get the juice control moving.

There's something about the way the chimney is so tight on the KF5, that it won't spin smoothly, and has caused the entire device to start threading off my P3.
I've tried all the "famous" lube methods (spit, juice, mineral oil, Qorax's lip balm, etc) and it's just too tight.
I've swapped out the O-ring for the same sized one, I've swapped it for a smaller one...nothing works (obviously a larger one would cause an issue).
Maybe I got a bad one.
I bought two.
Yeah sorry InTaste shoppers...
I unapologetically grabbed two within the first minute of launch day. They seemed to be the only ones who had it up!
I'm afraid to open my other one, for fear of degrading resale value, plus I haven't gotten the airflow restrictors, so I haven't firmly decided if I like this atomizer.

If the restrictors (or "chokes" - nice short name) work for me, boom. I'll open the second one and test it, to see if the juice control is just as tight.
If the chokes don't work for me, and when I test them, if I'm 100% sure I can't get used to any of them...well, I'll just sell both atomizers and be done with it.

Hmmmm....I can see if they are initially tight to turn. My KM3s were that way but they loosened up in short order. I would sit there for 5 - 10 minutes or more and just keep opening and closing the thing to work those orings....if you haven't done this already.

That, Sir Bronze, is what makes me think I've got a bad one.
Any time I'm wrenching on some old hot rod, the old "work it back & forth to loosen it" method is KING. As a mechanic, wiggling something loose is, well, second nature as you said!
This particular Kayfun 5 likes to think otherwise.
