Not sure what having a few km3's has to do with it, but I would say if you either simply like the looks or are a glass breaker...it's just a looks thing really, just like my wave tank addition. ..it's still not a whole new atomizer, just a different tank

Well put. I think it looks pretty snazzy. ;)

Hello guys,

New member in the forum and relatevily new in vaping. Last week I purchased a Kayfun Prime, moving from the trusty Nautilus 2. It's my first RDA/RTA and I found the whole wicking process easy and intresting so I'm experimenting with different builds (once per day) till I find the sweet spot for me. Since the purchase of a Kayfun was a big jump for me (and for my pocket), let me ask the silly question of the day.
After a week of use I just noticed that the polishing in a small area of the Chimney's base became matt (not as polished as the rest of the Chimney's cylinder)
I'm reffering to the Chimeny's area that unveils when opening the Liquid Control but is hidden inside the air flow ring once the liquids are fully closed. To my understanding this happens due to the friction between Chimney and Air Flow cylinder when playing with the Liquid or Air Flow settings, however I'm curious if it's something common/normal.

I'm sorry in advance for my English, and the way I tried to describe my"issue".
When opening and closing juice control, does it feel smooth? Or do you feel friction? I haven't noticed this on mine, but honestly I don't think I looked....also is the shine gone consistently around the entire circumference or just random?

Just to clarify:

The comment about the PEI tank was just an aside. It's a nice looking tank.

In addition, I was wondering why the Prime would supercede the KFMv3, as an MTL tank, for some people.

Is it just the form factor, or the exposed air control?

I'm still trying to talk myself into (or out of) buying a Prime.

Not quite getting there, one way or the other.

So I was asking why people have opted for the Prime over the KFMv3 specifically.

I had always intended to get the KM3, but I just never had the cash, I still might get one at some point. I picked the prime because of it's ability to give a much tighter draw, that is what I read here anyway.:|

I don't have the KM3 to compare it to, but I also liked that you could extended it's capacity with a kit that uses the KF5's glass tanks, which I did already have spares for. I have been using it for a month now and have it set on the 2 setting for air flow. I just got the extension kit tonight, I am not going to miss filling it 3 time's a day. :)

I remember that there were kits to expand the capacity for the KM3, but I really did not like the look of those extension/expansion tanks. I just got the extension kit set up, so I have not used it a whole lot like this yet. Right at this moment I like it. :)

I did get the Ultem kit also, but I wanted to try this first.:|

I am holding out for Possum Trot, Kentucky.
CMD some day in the future heading to the internet cafe to see if Svoemesto has released a Possum Trot, Kentucky steel tank for his Prime.

The vapes are at the same level as far as I'm concerned. I favor the Prime over the KM3 because it looks better on a compact mod (JAC Series-B, in my case). The Prime is wider (22mm vs 19mm) and shorter than the KM3 (1.8" vs 2.1").

I got ya....well both are fine tanks, I have both and although there are slight differences, your not going to buy a prime and say, wow this is so much better...it has juice control, but never needed that on the km3, also airflow is easier. And the whole size thing is different. .for me though, I buy new kayfuns just because they are kayfuns and I love to have and try every one...

Well, thanks guys, that's pretty much what I thought.

I can't justify it financially atm, but maybe at some point.

It does look good though, especially with that new tank.
You're in a good place if you have to "settle" for a KM3.

Well, it feels smooth, not buttery smooth but becomes smoother as I continue to use it. The shine gone consistently, it's about 1.5mm thick when juice control is fully open and covering the entire circumference. Not a big deal since I will find several ways to accidentaly scratch it by myself, but just thought to ask. You are the biggest community talking about the Prime, so I wanted to join in any case. Thanks for your reply and enjoy your Kayfun.

Next time I rebuild I will check it out, but it sounds like it's normal....just to make it smoother and maybe you already do this, but every time I rebuild , and before screwing on chimney, I always lub those orings with juice to make it a little smoother

Actually there is no any oring there. (the top of the airflow ring embraces the chimney's base).
I meant the 2 that are on the base of deck....there is one smaller one very close to coil and one down a little further. I lub these two up, just so the chimney can go up and down easier , which helps a little when opening and closing juice control

Right, thanks for the tip. I realized that after unboxing, I was actually playing with the airflow ring and was very stiff. After giving it the first wash everything became very smooth, until the water gone so I lubricated using some VG drops. I tried olive oil too, but prefer to smell it in my salad rather in my vaping :)

You can use other things too like lip balm or mineral oil. Lasts a little longer than e-juice.

I’ll just add that the very thin lip on the airflow adjustment ring is very thin and could have been damaged in shipment.

Have a look...

My Prime arrives Monday. For my "5" I watched @qorax video but he doesn't have one for the Prime [to the best of knowledge and belief]. Is there a recommended tutorial or is the Prime similar enough that I can use what I already know?

[Please refrain from commenting upon the insufficiency of what I already know.]
