Authentic Svoemesto Kayfun Prime

Okay, so I’ve managed rework three more times since I posted my last comment (I’m spending way too much time on this). I finally got a wick in that is not popping. Yay! Unfortunately, I put a pretty disappointing juice on here, and it’s not working very well, but those should be an easy enough fix. Seems like the issue was that the wicking was just a bit too dense, though I swear I tried thinning it out plenty several previous times. Maybe I just got lucky on this one. We’ll see!

A couple years back, In the original kayfun thread, I did a wick experiment because of dry hit issues many were having. Most were thinking these dry hits occurred because of to much cotton, so I decided to try various amounts . What I came up with , was that the only dry hit I could produce was from a coil that didn't have enough. I did 5 different wicking amounts , the last one was ridiculous in that I twisted the whole wick so tight I deformed the coil. Well that was the only wick that was to tight and although it didn't taste good, I didn't really get a dry hit. So basically , if you only twist the very ends of the wick and insert into coil, I found you couldn't add to much cotton into your coil, and it's actually a better vape, but I wanted to find out exactly why the way over stuffed coil lost flavor. Soon after this, I switched to rayon, so i never continued the experiments. With rayon, you definitely pack your coils, but trim your tails, so I often wondered why you stuff rayon, but most think you don't with cotton. Well I haven't really been thinking much about this lately until a recent thread by morten, so I broke out some ... cotton and stuffed a 2.5mm coil in my prime. I put a lot of cotton in there, I had to hold that coil with my nail, so it wouldn't deform and managed to slide in a big piece. I then trimmed the tails like I do with rayon and primed. Anyways after maybe 10 vapes, (took it a little to gain flavor) this coil broke in and is performing awesome. The flavor is spot on awesome , vapor is thick, no spit back and quiet. I still prefer rayon, but Imo, the wicking results are the same, put as much in your coil as possible without deforming it, then trim tails by 20 percent. Next time you rewick, give it a shot and share results

Yep. Wick-coil contact doesn’t seem to be the issue. Nor does juice buildup, as the popping is happening every time I fire it.
As other have mentioned, it usually is a wicking issue rather then the device and usually the more cotton, the less popping. Have you tried another coil? Is it the same juice your using in another good coil? Just trying to eliminate a bad coil, maybe a juice with high water percentage, etc. How high is your coil? I would try a wick that is really alot, so much you have to hold coil while sliding thru, and one that you think is way to much...then trim tails by 20 percent, taking some off the 2 sides and top and bottom. Also the lenght so the tails just rest on deck, and this on a 2.5mm slightly spaced 26g coil....when trimming, try not trim all the way to coil itself, but leave a sort of bushy shoulder, so trim, but stop the trim slightly before coil.....

My prime was delivered recently. Aside from the somewhat crappy packaging I have zero complaints. The build was quick to drop in and this was my first time building on the new deck style. Flavor is just fantastic. It is exactly what I have come to expect from svoemesto. It's not a cheap tank, but I have yet to get a true high quality RTA like this without spending a bit more. Also another plug for origin vape - these guys are great. When these come back in stock I highly suggest giving them consideration if you're looking to pick one up.

Are you also a kayfun mini v3 user?

No I missed this one, but hearing y'all talk about it I think I want one now. I need to watch Phil's video again comparing the differences. I was an original KFL user way back when and returned to svoemesto land when the KF4 came out. I still love that one for all its quirks and amazing flavor. To this day it's the only RTA I can vape Five Pawns Lucena in and have it taste right. I am looking forward to trying Lucena in the Prime to see if it can hang with its older brother. :)

Highly recommend it...IMO, vape is much better than Prime. I really like Prime's features, but went back to KM3.

Definitely worth trying. Everyone has different tastes , so it's hard to know exactly, but some love the prime and hate the km3, while some are the other way...

Amen. And some like both.
They're so different for me, that I just have a hard time understanding how someone likes both. But I guess in the wide world of atty's (of which I've only tried a handful of mtl's), they might me more similar than they are different.

my take on the prime after a short use(mentioning the only tank i use is a kfl+v2):
i'm on the smallest air hole, and it's just alright, and that is while using the kfl drip tip which has tiny holes,
i guess that with the one that came with the prime it would have been too airy.
the taste is not great for the moment, maybe i have residues of some sort, whether from the factory or from the soap i used to clean it.
also plenty of clouds coming out of it,and i get a much more nicotine ,so i'l try to either lower the watts and/or putting the extension kit.
overall it's just ok for the moment and the kfl+ beats it big time in all aspects.
(maybe the prime isn't good with menthol liquids which are the only ones i vape for now.

anyhow,i'm not disappointed,it's a good back up tank, but i think manufacturers forgot what MTL means.
i don't intend on getting any more tanks for now, especially those high end ones, only the berserker mini and then i hope i'm set.
also mentioning that it's not that small,it gives that impression, but it's just a bit smaller than the kfl+,and that is with the 2ml tank.

Wow, you must really like it tight. I just compared the draw on the smallest hole to an old iclear 16, Smok Trophy V2, and even an old NJoy. About the same as the iclear, and tighter than the Smok. Might be a tiny bit looser than the NJoy.
Tight enough for me, I just can't get any throat hit on the Prime.

Didn't know Berserker made a mini - is it supposed to have the same issues as the original?

i think i like it at around 0.8mm tight.

for the berserker mini,it's still in preorder on FT and i read rumors there that some thing might have been improved, but i don't see any juice control so..

it's weird, the prime gave me some serious vape tongue,
never experienced anything like that,i have a strong menthol e-liquid,and i can't taste anything..
going back to the kfl for a while,re-washing the prime and next time i'll put the extension kit.(maybe the fact that the tank is smaller,it burnt my taste buds a bit(or was it the hot soup i ate?).

I got that too...I get vape tongue pretty easy when I overdo it, and I think on the Prime, it's because I took big hits, trying to get the throat hit. Got plenty of vapor, used lots of juice, but tiny TH. It just seemed to "smooth it out." Something else weird I got out of it- I seemed to taste a lot more wick coming thru than with any other atty I'd used, whether it was fresh or not. Even more than I did on the K5. I have no idea why that would be.

Using the prime for about a month now I noticed that for me it just works way better with high pg liquids. Something like 70pg 30 vg. The taste is a lot better because pg just holds flavour better. And when using something like 70vg 30 pg the TH disappears as well as a lot of the flavour. You can try to mimic the TH with higher doses of nicotine but it just isnt the same. I really think its a shame a lot of manufacturers are following this cloud hype with the higher vg liquids.

I wish higher pg was an option. Started with that, and liked it fine, but after a couple of months, the vapers tongue became swift and punishing with pg. It almost made me give up vaping. I can vape a lot more with 100% vg, but can still tell when I overdo it. I have no pg senstivity in the throat as most say, but it makes my mouth feel raw, kind of like I burned it with hot food, if I don't keep consumption way down with pg, with a long time between hits. Oh well.
