What kind of cotton do you use for your wick? When I used cotton, I used Native Wicks cotton and liked it rather well. Cotton can be different in quality. I have been using rayon for the last few months and actually prefer it over cotton.

Bottom line, my opinion is that the wick material is the problem. I am by far not an expert. I find the Prime to be the best overall rba that I have ever used. If you are interested in a sample of either Native Wick or rayon, PM your address and I could ship a sample to you if you are in the USA.

Hi,
I'm outside of the US but thank you for your offer!
I used the cotton the came with the coilmaster diy kit,
Following your advice I bought cotton bacon v2 and the flavour did get better!
However still not quite as good as on the nautilus coil, I get that sweet taste on my tongue from the nautilus 0.7 and the prime doesnt give me that, It does however has more vapor

Keep experimenting with cotton amounts. Use more. Use less. Longer tails, shorter tails, etc.. You'll find the sweet spot. Your coil sounds fine. Also fiddle with the juice control. Try it at one turn, two turns, and three turns and see what happens. The higher the VG content the more turns you will likely need. Don't see any reason to go past three turns, however.

Hello everyone,
I'm a new vaper (3 months).
Started with a zelos kit with the 1.8ohm coil and NETs, then discovered the flavourness of the 0.7ohm coil with manabush.
Had problems getting coils one time so decided to research and get "one of the best mtl rtas".
For a week after each time my tank goes empty and me trying different coil builds (2.5mm spaced/reg) and ohms from 1.1 to 1.5, and cotton wicking variations from tight thru the coil and looser, fluffing and trimming the cotton ends, I'm still getting a muted or maybe cotton taste in my vape from the KF.
At first I thought it was me getting vapers tongue, I compared it to a freshly opened 0.7 nautilus coil and I realized the it was no vapers tongue, just cant get the Prime to taste like the 0.7 nautlus.
i'm vaping the 0.7 with 18w which is 3.7v on the zelos,
Tried the KF builds with different wattage/volts...
Cotton is the one that came with the coil-master kit v3...
Today for example I stuffed more cotton in the coil so I needed to use tweezers not to deform the spaced coil, and then trimmed the edges a bit.

I'm lost.. looking for advice.

Thanks!
Is this your first rebuildable rta? If so it does take time to dial it in, but once you do, I promise the flavor will be better then the nautilus. How is your coil height? Besides that it seems you now have some good cotton and a good coil and from there it's all in the wicking. It may seem an easy thing to do, but if it's just a bit to thick or thin, or to long or short, it makes a world of difference. With cotton, it may sound as if you may have put a bit to much in the coil. You should be able to thread a wick in without to much coil movement, yes it's better to put a bit more in then less, but just a slight fingernail hold of the coil is just about right, and if the coil is hardened already (let's say a week old) you probably don't need to hold the coil at all, but it should move Slightly without holding it. One thing that's important is the lenght and width of the tails. If the tails are to long, they can impede juice flow and if they are to bushy, likewise. I would say with a 2.5 coil and the correct amount of cotton thru coil, you probably don't need to trim that much off the width of tails, maybe if anything 5 percent, but the lenght need to just touch the ledge. So let us know what percentage of vg? Coil height? And how open your JFC is? Also what gauge wire and what brand of wire? Kanthal or SS?

Thanks guys
Will keep experimenting, it IS my first rebuildable however I am a fast learner ;)

Cool advice, I really didn't think about it. I may overstuffed the coil on the re-wicks because of the solidity of it when inserting new cotton...
As I said will keep experimenting, thank you again

Err on the side of more cotton, not less (thickness-wise).

Coil height can change flavor and if it's set to high can mute the taste. I personally feel 1.3 mm to 1.5 is perfect. I also feel if JFC is open to much can do the same. I wick the prime So that 1 turn of juice flow sees bubbles and from there I just give it one more half turn for 70 vg juice. I find if I wick it with to much wick and tails, it takes more turns to see those bubbles when opening jc. So for my vape style 1.5 turns is perfect and if I go more, it starts to mute slightly

Just a little update,
Found the right amount of wicking, now getting great vape.
Was putting too much wick, both in coil and in the channels
now 1.5-2 turns of JFC with 50/50 gives bubbles and I'm good to go...
Thank you all
Awesome! ! Glad your dialing it in...rta's are a bit touchy and take time, but after a while they are very repeatable and consistent . Just always keep a mental note, especially pulling the old wick. If you feel a certain build was just right, pulling that old wick gives feed back, like how easy or how hard it pulls from coil. Also a good repeatable way is to always measure coil height, like with a blunt tip needle or a small drill bit. If you can always keep that coil height the same, then you can always get the tails at the correct depth on the ledge. I keep coil at 1.3mm and when I'm trimming my tails, I measure their lenght right at the small oring and cut. These are just little things that can help for consistency

Anyone have issues when your ecig mod falls over, tank takes a bang, hits up again your leg while it's in your pocket. That you gotta relock the ohms in/ohms change?

Kayfun Prime/ss316l spaced coil/temp control.

I'm sure it's just the coils shifting, just curious if anyone has this issue.

Can't say that I do but I don't knock over my mod often. Same setup as yours. But I can see how knocking it over could rattle the coil/resistance.

Yeah, I don't knock it over very often. But got three cats here in the house, so yeah.....It happens.
My neighbor's cat comes over a lot and all he does is knock stuff over. I send him back out the door. Don't know why they feel compelled to knock over everything they cross.

I finally have a 2nd one of these on it's way, also with the extension kit, spare glass, spares kits etc. I am looking forward to having another one. It is the best tank I have bought in years. :)

Agree! It's the only tank I have used since it came out.

Yup. Love my Prime. I purchased a few tanks around the same time. Used the other tanks a hanful of times at first, but those are collecting dust. Prime for the win!

Around the same time, I got the Siren 2 and Erlkonogin and I like them. However, the Prime has overtaken both as my all day every day RBA.
