I have a brush from an old Norelco electric shaver
Nice tip, I didn't think of that. What I use is a baby sized toothbrush and it's the biggest thing in my repurposed ashtray.

The market has definitely changed a bit. Hard to gauge though how relative everything is. I visit a few local vape shops here in Northern Ireland and it would seem like very few rebuild. Most of them use drop in coils but some of the old school types like their big Clapton coil things for their drippers etc.

There has definitely been a resurgence of MTL within the last year though. No doubt about that. And as great as that is to see I still see Svoemesto being top of the pile. They have a large following and a lot of people like to pay that little bit extra for a quality piece. I can honestly say since Sep 2017, when I received the Prime, I’ve never been happier vaping.

Recently tried a Dvarw and all that experience taught me was once again, should have stuck with the Kayfun. The Dvarw is good, but nowhere near the build quality and sturdiness of any Kayfun.

Not sure if there would be a market for a Kayfun with drop in coils. I’m sure they would sell but I think most people who use kayfuns are happy to rebuild. I know I am. Drop in coils can be handy for a lot of people, but what happens when those coils go off the market? It could basically render that tank useless. Whereas kayfuns and most rebuildables can last a lifetime.

I could never imagine going back to the expenditure of having to buy a blister pack every week or so. Kanthal and cotton is cheap and I could never justify paying someone else to produce (often of poor quality) something that I can do myself in a matter of seconds.

Yep I'm a ST nerd. It does look a little like he's vaping.
I have no idea really, I choose that a long time ago because it looked a lot like a Vape devise. I am a fan of Star Trek, but I don't have the episodes memorized.

Like many have said, I prefer rebuilding. I still enjoy it and I love the savings. Pop in new wick as often as I like to keep the good flavor going.

My pod curiousity got to me and I couldn’t wait for @vapdivrr to pick the best one now that he’s out of the market for pods. ;)

I grabbed an Innokin EQ from HHV’s gear clearance. Good price for the risk. Time will tell.

Also here’s a heads up that there’s a holiday sale going on now.

Which mod will be carrying the moonlight? I love the moonlight, midnight and the nite the most, but don't really have the mod for it (or the money, hahaha).

Be going on my Dani box, think it will go well with it.

I’m kind of surprised you didn’t like the DVARW!

I tried a DVARW MTL, with the airflow insert removed...and loved it so much I immediately bought another.

The widest setting on the Prime is ever-so-slightly too small for me, but I love it as well.

As far as build quality, I couldn’t compare the two at all.

The Prime is designed to do one thing, and the DVARW another.

I know they both used high quality materials, and their designs were well thought out!

    Hi all,
Looking for some help here with my kayfun prime. My first 2 builds and wicking we're ok not brilliant but still satisfying. Cleaned tank in warm water as I was changing flaver of juice. Was looking to try different builds and wicking and this is where it all went wrong. After trying different things for a week I was about to give up, then I take the tank apart and noticed I was missing an oring at the top of the chimney and replaced it with a spare.Things are going a bit better now but when I refill I'm getting reduced vapor for a while and a gugle for the fist vape. I was really hoping that this tank at this price would do away with all this. Any advise would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

Reduced vapor and gurgle is most definitely a kind of flooding issue. I would venture to say your tails are either too thin or not touching the channels properly. Along with this, you might have the JC open a bit too much adding to the flooding. What coil ID and how easily would you say your threading your cotton thru the coil? And how do you judge the tail lenghts?

I'd like to throw my two cents in the pot regarding drop-in coils... A year or so after I started vaping I ran across the Kayfun 3.1, which I thought at the time and still think now is one of classic industrial designs of all-time. For multiple reasons I thought I could never build and did not buy one. But I did see on FastTech a clone of sorts called a V6 that had a removable deck that allowed one to use Atlantis coils. I bought one, and as you might have guessed, it was a POS.

At 63 I suffer from bad thumbs, shaky hands and not the world's best eyesight, and I can add to that not a ton of free time. However with the thought of one day getting around to it, I have bought a bunch of authentic Kayfuns. I've watched all the videos and one of the members here graciously provided help and physical guides to use in building. So I can do it, I'm just not great and it takes me way more time than it probably takes the rest of you guys.

A couple of three weeks ago I bought a Dani Box Mini. My thought was to put a Prime with extension on it. But when it arrived, I didn't have much time, so a put an authentic Eden Mods Trillium on the Dani. With the Trillium one can use either Atlantis or Nautilus coils, which is nice. The downside is the tank only holds 2mls, and one has to take the tank apart to change either type of coil. So I replaced the Trillium with a Kabuki pretty fast.

Yesterday I finally had some free time and put the Prime on the Dani. I guess I nailed it as I've been through two tanks, the flavor is great, and I've had no leaks.

But were SvoëMesto to make an adapter where one could remove the present deck and replace it with the adapter and an Atlantis or Nautilus coil, for example, then I would have done that on day one. I also think it would boost their sales as there are some folks who will never build. OTOH, since Kayfuns always seem in short supply with most dealers, perhaps SvoëMesto doesn't need the money?

Anyway, here are some shots of my stages with the Dani Mini:

    Hi, please see pics.
The coil is 2.5mm 5/6 wraps wicked with cotton bacon or prime can't remember which one I used.one side is darker because it lifted a bit for some reason after filling I think. Used this set up most of yesterday evening no probs. Please look at replaced oring . Thanks

And I think this is it. There are just a few who are getting the profits so they don't mind sacrificing sales to maintain control of their product. Just my guess.

That looks like way too much cotton. It shouldn't be stuffed and it shouldn't poke out like that.
Might explain the gurgling, too. Coil seems good, not sticking off of the deck platform. Might be a good idea to look at @vapdivrr 's vid in the first post of the thread to check out how to wick. Just not stuff it with cotton like you can with rayon.

That looks gorgeous. Nice matchy matchy with the driptip.

Although I feel the darvw is every bit as good in vape quality as the prime, it doesn't have the build quality of the prime. Yes it can still give you many years of use, but it doesn't have that hi end feel. I dont think many care to much for that feel, but I do enjoy things that feel and look hi end and svoemesto is one of the best for that
