What I find interesting is that satan also quotes Scripture to Jesus. Satan knows full well all about Scripture and knew full well that Jesus was coming.

and remember that satan made his 1st attempt to kill him already..satan working through king Herod killed the children of Jesus' age

4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach and say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
If we look back at 3:2, this is exactly what John preached. This connects Jesus to the ministry of John. In John 3:26 John's disciples are concerned about the leaving of the people to Jesus. They believe that Jesus' popularity is greater than that of John, and they are concerned that this is not according to the plan of what they have heard from John. Yet Jesus and John were working together. John prepared the way, and therefore Jesus was able to pick up where John left off, preaching the good news of the kingdom of heaven.

Was "the kingdom of heaven at hand" actually referring to the presence of Jesus?

Lisa,
I thought that meant the same thing you did. Thanks Southern Gent for the clarification...I could however lived without the phrase "new world order", that has such a nefarious connotation now. I believe it is one of satan's great deceptions and incredibly evil. Just my opinion of course. I'm not sure how others feel about the phrase.

Ok, please clarify the new world order thing.........
To clarify let's ask some questions:
Who were the chosen elite?
How were the chosen elite affected by the coming of Christ and the new kingdom?
What did Jesus tell the woman at the well concerning worship?
What was the traditional sight of worship for God's people?

To clarify let's ask some questions:
Who were the chosen elite? The Pharisees I guess?
How were the chosen elite affected by the coming of Christ and the new kingdom? They hated Him because their authority was basically trashed.
What did Jesus tell the woman at the well concerning worship?John 4:10: Jesus answered her, ‘You do not know the gift of God. You do not know who asks you for water. If you did, you could ask me. I would give you living water’.
What was the traditional sight of worship for God's people? ?

Jews
Their chosen state was brought into question or abolished by the ushering in of the new order and the acceptance of gentiles.
Jesus said "you will no longer worship here nor there" speaking of Jerusalem & Gerazim.
Traditional site was the temple in Jerusalem but not to be anymore

This is a radical change from what had been thought for centuries. It was a new world order in that people were to be accepted as equals. The elitist society had/would be done away with.

I don't pay much attention to it Sis. God will be God and I will continue to be His child so what takes place, takes place. It is a very simpleton attitude I know. I fall into that category that Jesus spoke of when He said "today has enough troubles of it's own".

Ok, but you might want to consider reading up on it since it's highly relevant to the times we are living in and the attack on christianity. :)

Southern Gent,
it is interesting that Lisa, SaintCruiser and I all had the same reaction to the words "New World Order". I agree with you about what will happen, will happen, but this "New World Order" is now so in your face it is impossible to miss. It has a lot to do with what is now happening all over Europe and even here in the US. It is pure and simple evil, and certainly one of satan's more successful campaigns of deception against us. I pray and fear for those who are not yet saved and who believe in the "New World Order". Those words were also used by Hitler, and as we know he was evil in human form. I am certain he is burning in Hell as we speak.

The Gospel of Thomas is considered a Gnostic gospel. The Gnostics reached the height around 150 and were all but gone by 250. There are many others written in the same manner as this one, regardless of the date of writing, regardless of their mention at council, they are not included in canon. I'd say that's pretty fair evidence of their intentional exclusion.
if the Gnostics were all but gone by 250 there's a good chance nobody even gave a thought to the Gospel of Thomas a hundred years later at Nicea......

You see I'm in the church business...the business of Jesus preaching. I can't control the "New world order". I can take care of church business and Jesus preaching. So that's my primary focus.
