if the Gnostics were all but gone by 250 there's a good chance nobody even gave a thought to the Gospel of Thomas a hundred years later at Nicea......

Thomas and a lot of others too never were considered. The effort was to get rid of them because of the herecy. I'm satisfied that there are even more out there that we have yet to find.

Southern Gent,
If there are more out there yet to find, don't you think God will or will not reveal them in His time? Being the Bible is the direct word of God, if God would have wanted or needed those other books in His Book, don't you think He would have made certain they were included? Just a thought.

The first time I heard the words "New World Order" from a president was from Daddy Bush. Him and his 1,000 points of light. My gut says he's illuminati. Who knows, maybe W as well. I don't know. I never heard those words from W. That shocked me, though. I had already read Dangers of the Rainbow, and my mouth dropped open. I may re-read that soon. If anyone says New World Order, I automatically think end times. Now Jesus, will bring at the 2nd Coming an order for the world, but to me, it's not going to be Jesus' New World Order until the New Heaven and New Earth. That's this one person's opinion.:)

Let's be clear..I'm not endorsing the books or anything of the sort. They are old and they are fun to read. Beyond that I wouldn't put much faith in them. The Bible itself tells us there are so many books about Jesus the world can't contain them. Seems that God is well aware they are out there. We have within our canon all that is needed for man to learn of God's plan of salvation. We are always hoping to find something more. I guess that is our nature.

getting back to the Matthew, I'm always amazed at the stories of Jesus calling the disciples......imagine if you were busy at work some day and a total stranger walks up to you and says, "drop everything you are doing, leave your family and come with me"

That would be wild to say the least but the Bible ties it all up pretty good. They knew Jesus pretty well before this went down.

Ok question:

"5:10 Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." and 5:11 Blessed are you when men cast insults at you, and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely, on account of Me."

I read your explanation of those who are persecuted, great commentary on that :)

My question is this. How are Christians supposed to handle this persecution? One verse says to turn the other cheek, another one says dont throw your pearls before swine, and so on.

I deal with persecution from time to time from unbelievers. I guess my question is, how are we supposed to handle it? Turn the other cheek, or leave, or stay and keep talking, or what? What does the Bible say about this, or does it say anything about it specifically?
