It's not that the people I know are old, it's that they are hopeless and stubborn. So my first point was that I don't believe big tobacco has too much to worry about because I believe cigarettes are that powerful, I do not expect the masses to rush to ecigs. Hope I am making sense now without offending anyone. :D
You do know that it is not your job to convince anyone else to use e cigs. It is simply your choice to do so yourself.

Yes, I agree. I do not try to convert them. It's when they see me using it, I get "You still sucking on that thing?" with a smirk. They then start to barrel down on me that I don't know what chemicals I'm inhaling, I try to stand up for myself and explain the difference between liquid and cigarette smoke but am met with stubbornness. To be fair, there is one nice gentleman I work with, probably close to 60, seemed interested from the get go, or at least he was trying to be polite. He took one of my Innovapor cards and said he'd check it out, but has never taken the next step. The only person I am trying to convert is my wife.

nice explanation. i know it's easy to throw around words sometimes when we're thinking of specific people that could end up offending whole groups. good of you to explain. :)

now, as for big T and e-cigs... i know china hasn't left much wiggle room on patents... so i'm interested to see what they can come up with. tbh i don't really care if they get into the business, generally. but i'd hate to see our 'neighborhood' suppliers here drummed out of business and prices get jacked up...

Now, it makes sense.

How could some local dude have access to the engineering departments at PM? I would think that there is a huge level of secrecy at this company. Are you sure he wasn't just BSing you?

when i say local im not thinking of other peoples views on a global scale. There is a HUGE Phillip Morris plant in Richmond Virginia. Which is where i live, so to me its local. As for him being a john doe at the company, im not too sure what his title is at the company, all i know is he doesn't exactly work on the assembly line.
As for "is he BSing me" the news article on the first post made his story quite a believable one.

I'm interested to see what Phillip Morris comes up with. Like, what kind of equipment? Are they going to come up with long lasting nice equipment, or some disposable stuff? Refillable or not? Very curious.
Refillable? Id say no way.
They want you to be tied to them in the same way buying a pack of cigs ties you to them. I foresee carts that cannot be refilled (actual sealed units) that you must buy from tobacconists if you want more.
If they can be re-filled then juice can be bought from any place and not jsut the PV supplier, cutting into their margins (unless they buy out every ejuice supplier or they manage to get it made unlawful to produce ejuice unless you are a Big Tobacco member).
I kind of doubt that the overheads on PVs are very big, though I'm sure
mass produced ones could be made for pennies, but if you HAVE to buy THEIR carts for THAT model in order to use it, you have a captive market.
My 2 cents anyway.

I agree with Jay, Chances are anything they sell will totally be secured in a way that you wont be able to refill using anything but their own brand. They will find the best ways to soak the most money out of people.

However... PM makes some damn good flavors and im sure whatever they make will taste great lol

I agree. It would be kinda nice to get the flavor of a Red or a Marb menthol without the cancer junk :p but ill take my daily vapes for now :)

And yea it would most likely not refillable but the convenience of having them at the local store would be nice too instead of the anticipation i'm constantly getting from waiting on the usps that never does their tracking right hahaha I actually stopped at one of my local stores that i used to always go to for butts and he's considering buying e liquid in bulk and selling it.... that'd be amazinnggg haha

My guess is that it's true that the guy works there ... he's probably violated a NDA or his 'employment agreement' by talking about prototype product though. So we probably ought to just let that part go ...

Methinks these folks are simply jealous of you because they are unwilling/unable to quit in such a clever and easy way as you have.

I would also think the byproducts (remaining parts of the leaf after the nicotine was extracted) could be used for other things like fabric, paper maybe... just use your imagination.

Ethanol!

I used to smoke it, now I vape it and it powers my car!

Add big oil to the list of conspirators.

You are probably 100% correct. That look in their eyes speaks volumes.

Just think how good you're going to feel when the vaping takes over and you can ask them, "You still burning leaves and paper for your nicotine?" Cough, cough.

As for the age of vapers, check this pole. Many of us vapers were smoking more years than many in the forum have been alive.

Ha, now I have a come back! :) But now I've developed a habit of vaping privately, no more hanging out at the smoke table for me.

Looking at these polls really surprises me, this might be the only forum I'm on that isn't ruled by teenagers. (DISCLAIMER! Nothing wrong with that either! )
