Well did a short vid using Rayon Finally got the right stuff lots of it to funny really. So far have had a good experience with it. Using it almost exclusively in the Ithaka with the new re-buildable part. Here is a quick video if you want to check it out. Should be uploaded in about 15 min.

I'm currently using some Delasco rayon on the Ithaka with spidder dripper, and it vapes like a champ !!
The flavor is excellent, and the taste start to slightly change to a dry-ish one when the tank is completly dry and the wick almost white ... the wicking properties are that good !
Now it might not be eco-friendly to produce, but it seems to be a super clean substrate. Can't wait to receive some titanium wires to complete this new generation of vaporization material :)

Just make sure to get the one that says 100% rayon and not cotton.

Yup, I'm working off your part number list from post #13. There's also a rayon that is I believe coated that we don't want. Been too long since I read that in the big rayon thread to remember the details.

It's called reinforced and no you don't want that. Although someone tried it and said maybe it's just a thread that runs along the rayon, you remove it and that's it. But to be safe don't get the reinforced one.

This was posted today in the rayon thread.

Update: day 2 and this stuff is amazing! Jeremy and everyone here THANKS!! best advice was to use more than what we all used with cotton. Make sure the wick is snug in the coil so the rayon keeps contact with all sides of the coil.

On a side note, anyone that's on the fence and wants to try it out, this site is selling 10ft for $1.99 and free shipping. http://www.anasavapes.com/rayon-cellucotton-10-feet/ it's worth a shot and trust me, you will not be disappointed. This stuff is great. Thanks again all!

Got some today and tried it.

Pros
- Wicks great! Used it on a dripper deck (to see it in action). I can tell the juice flow within the Rayon is much more even and smoother. Also, definitely more juice is held by the fibers. With regular cotton, juice is "soaked" into the cotton. But Rayon fiber seem to literally "hold" the juice. Much more juice is visible between fiber strand in Rayon where as the regular cotton seem to "suck in" the juice into itself.
- Fiber strands run pretty strand. One of side effect of straight fibers is, you can fill the coil with this pretty snug and it wouldn't choke the coil.
- Pretty cheap
- Don't have to boil/dry them
- I would have to use them for longer term to be certain, but it does seem to have a cleaner taste.

Cons
- Just like the regular cotton, you have to tear up what you need. This process creates lots of loose fiber strands. KGD is much more convenient since they come in square shape. This isn't a big deal for me since I am used to working with regular cotton.

Side note
- For the first time in my life, I had a chance to go to a beauty supply store. (and yes, I stuck out like a sore thumb) :D
- They didn't have any small packs, so I end up buying 500ft box for $12. A foot of cotton would last me a few months....

Bottomline. I have made a complete switch to Rayon and will be reporting back with further findings.

Zero I have been using rayon more than a month now. Exclusively. Everything you said in the pros is 100% correct. You got all the pros right which makes me happy because not all realize all of these directly. One additional pro you will realize later is that the coil and wick stay cleaner. The wick stays white for longer time than cotton. I have some wicks that I haven't change for more than a week.

As for the con don't worry it is better to tear what you need than cutting because it gives a perfect shape for wicking. As for the loose fibers with time you will find it easy to remove these and you will end up with a beautiful clean wick. The one thing that people have problems with is density. Knowing how much to put can be a challenge at first because rayon seems to get smaller when soaked. Also it is possible to choke it. So you seem you got your density right from the beginning. Congrats.

I have isolated a good thing about Rayon Cellucotton (got on Ebay)... superior wicking.

I have an Achilles Ti RDA that was giving me problems when going lower than .6 ohms using a cotton ball even Japanese cotton pads.
Dry hits; slow wicking due to density of cotton, and....

The Achilles is single coil w/ elevated center air post about 3 - 4mm over the base which has 2 deep wells so that's 3-4 mm distance from juice source to coil.

The Rayon lets me go to .5 ohms with no wicking issues (fantastic wicking) and the flavor is clean.

I am having good luck with the Rayon I must admit it is working great in all my tanks and drippers and I have enough to last two life times I am so happy that it worked out. I found it easier to work with than the OC that's could be just me though! Like all wick it takes a little time to get it right but once you do you'll be happy.:vapor:

Phil did a test of Rayon vs some other popular wicking media. Quite interesting

He tells it like it is subjective! I personally can not taste anything when using Rayon but that's me and remember we are spoiled we have juice control on Ithaka, Ody, Pene's which makes all the difference to me and is the feature that sells me every time Tilemahos is the next GG for me and without juice control I would not buy it. Thanks Imeo (but I have to stop spending money LOL)

It is interesting indeed. My only comment is that noone does a wicking test from completely dry. test of wicking should be from wet. Maybe use another color liquid and see how it climbs up the wicks as a result of vaporizing previous clear liquid.

I thought it was a good idea to do his tests like this. I realize that when you build a coil everyone primes their wicks but to me the dry test was good info to see how each wick would replenish it's juice supply if you vaped the wick mostly dry.

Anyways I really liked the test and like him I've been using organic balls since he first recommended them. Now it is looking like I need to decide a new wick to try after this video. Hmm I liked the Rayon better in every aspect except that it left more stuff when burned then the 2 natural cottons.
