I little over a month in and I have chain vaped since I started (March 30). I've learned a new technique (for me, at least) that has me going through about double the juice I was using before but it seems to be more effective. I don't want to chain vape (I literally have my PV in my hand at all times, except when working at my desk) and I'm kind of feeling like more of a slave to it than I was to my cigarettes.

For me, I think it's that I tried to cut back my nic too fast and bought a bunch of samples that were too low (12 mg). Also I am getting some WTA juice this week, because a week ago I went back to analogs for a couple of days after some intense stress and vaping was NOT cutting it for me. I'm back to vaping exclusively now, but the chain vaping is out of control! :p

Hopefully having the WTA and the right nic level will help me put...the....damm thing...down for a second.

I was not a heavy smoker, 12 to 15 ultra lights a day at most, but I love to vape and find myself vaping so much more than I ever smoked. I agree that it is partly because the taste buds are back, and also partly because the juices themselves taste so good. I vape at 6mg in order to avoid any reactions from getting too much nicotine. I say, find a nicotine level that you are comfortable with and that matches your particular vaping pattern and you're good!

Damn. I am down to 18 nic. Started at 32. I vape every chance I get. On Sunday I vaped 12ml. I enjoy it honestly it has become a obsession between. The different mods juice and everything. I watch the vapor I see how much came out I blow it out and walk through it. Its really bad. It has became more then just vaping. I don't want a cigarette and can't stand the smell. But I'll vape any chance I can get.

I spend the first couple of hours before work looking at different mods while I blaze through at least 2ml.

But have decided to try and slow it down. Being able to vape in the house and my wife not know it has me vaping xonstantly .

is chain vaping bad compared to cigs as you would only smoke a cig every few hours..?

I doubt it is. I doubt it's anywhere at all near as bad.

In fact, I would bet that "chain vaping" comes about because the nic absorption is different between vaping and smoking. That is, the available nicotine and speed that it gets into the blood stream is much higher and much faster in smoking but appears (from the tests we have so far) to be lower and slower in vaping.

So since all of us who switched from a tobacco product were used to having X amount of nicotine in our blood streams (whatever amount that was for the individual), we're trying hit and maintain that same level but using a different "delivery" system (as it were). And unless you're showing signs of too much nic (like headaches and other symptoms I forget right now), I don't know it's actually a "problem".

It easily could just be that it takes more frequent exposure to the vapor to get the same nicotine levels. I'm speculating here but it would make sense.

Not to mention, I think I, at least, had an adjustment period where I vaped a lot. Can't run blood tests to check nic levels and compare to smoking to figure out what level of which liquid and how often an inhale would produce X amount of nic. So I had to fiddle around until things just sort of "felt right". And then, after a while, the "chain vaping" fell off. My vaping... pattern?... is getting much more like my smoking was. In terms of how often I inhale and how long I go between them. I'm not timing nor counting, just noticing it feels a lot more like it used to back when I smoked.

(Like I just paused between paragraphs to take a "drag" on the PV. That's the kind of thing I'd do with the cigs.)

I read about two studies I thought were interesting (don't have cites handy right now, I need to start collecting this stuff where I can find it), where one... well, let's say underwhelming "researcher" did what appeared to be a "test" where he essentially handed smokers e-cigs then tested for nicotine in their blood streams. Finding little to none, he pronounced (based on a single study that sounded pretty badly set up to me) that all e-cigs were "fraudulent".

Another study tested experienced vapers and found nic levels comparable to that of smokers.

To me, that suggests that we learn how to reach the same nic levels. It's not fully conscious thing any more than smoking (or dipping or chewing) was. It's not like you thought about each and every cig and inhale. You just had a low level sense of what nic level was satisfying and had, over time, found the frequency and "methods" (far as inhale) to hit it.

Suddenly, you switch delivery systems. So all those habits have to shift around until you hit the same level (or close enough that you are able to stay away from cigs or whatever tobacco product you're escaping). Included in that is having to fiddle around with nic levels in juices and the base liquids (which may or may not have something to do with the amount of available nic in the vapor, I dunno) and so on and other such.

I wonder, after reading a number of newcomer posts, if some of us are lucky to hit the right "combination" (of device and liquid and all) right away and others have to experiment longer. That could have something to do with how some walk away from tobacco on day one of vaping but others take more time.

And I see my natural tendency to academia (academania?) has shown it's face again. Somebody please slap me and tell me to get to the grocery store like I was supposed to have been doing nearly an hour ago...

;)

I am such a chain vaper. What I have noticed though is my physical craving for the "activity" has really decreased. A few days ago I was trapped..and I mean really trapped into a work situation where I could not leave for 6 hours and the first 90 minutes were spent doing nothing. Halfway through I realized..I'm not freaking out..I'm calm..and not even thinking about vaping. For me that is truly amazing. I've been at 6 for nic for over a year and the flavors just keeping me wanting more. I guess I am vaping for the flavor now more than the nicotine. Not inhaling those addicting chemicals anymore sure helps a lot too.

The other day I was in an office by myself covering phones..I read a magazine and answered a few calls but that crazy overwhelming I GOTTA GET OUT OF HERE didn't even come close to happening. Once again, I was calm and actually enjoyed the magazine I was reading. Truly an amazing thing for me.

This is a FANTASTIC topic - I am very new to vaping (after 35+ years as a 'moderate' smoker) and had been wondering exactly the same thing... I am enjoying the 'vaping style', and the nice taste so much that I seem to be having a few puffs several times an hour. With the old analogues I might have had one cigarette per hour or so, to fit with what I was doing at the time. It is great to hear that my situation is rather 'normal'?! I am using 12 mg juice, which feels about right for me... though of course I am definitely still 'learning' about this awesome and pleasing pastime! Wish I'd started vaping years ago.

Welcome to vaping and ECF csebr002....
(I will call you SeaBreeze !:p)

In vaping, most of the nicotiene is absorberd through the mouth and nose tissues...
and you should inhale into your mouth slowly and hold it there for a second or two- then exhale through your mouth and nose.
You really don't want to deep lung vapor from vaping...it will give you sore lungs in no time flat.

The explanation is long...but the short of it is that the nicotine attached to PG/VG is large..like 10 microns and doesn't absorb easily into the deep lung blood vessels. The nic in ciggies is small...1 micron in size and is absorbed instantly in the deep lung vessels and goes to the brain straight off. Hence, no 'head rush' in vaping. Nicotine in vaping is absorbed more slowly...and to keep your nic level up- you need to vape more often, and for longer than you would normally smoke a cigarette.

Vaping drys you out...so drink plenty of water to hydrate...and to flush those old toxins out too.

Wow, that wore me out, hope it helps....
Now, back to Vaping my DIY ButterRum.....Yum !!!

sorry for asking but how do you exhale through your nose without taking it into your lungs?
