Here's another one.

Bill & I visited Alcatraz, the famous abandoned and haunted prison on an island in San Francisco Bay. I've been places where I thought I felt the presence of ghosts, but as we toured the prison, I didn't get that feeling. I was a little surprised and disappointed.

Then we went down to the basement, where there was a solitary confinement cell open so the public could go in and see it. Bill walked in and said, "Look at this," about something inside, and I started to follow him, but when I got to the doorway, I froze. It seemed I couldn't step over the threshold. It was a weird feeling, and I shook my head and said, "This is silly," and forced myself to go through the doorway. I can't describe the feeling. It was probably a panic attack. All I could think of was getting out again. I stepped back outside, and I was immediately back to normal.

Those of you who know me understand that I'm not normally fearful, nor am I claustrophobic. I toured a submarine in Philadelphia with much tighter spaces with no problem. I don't know what it was, but all I can think was that I was picking up the accumulated vibes of the panic of being shut in there that hundreds of inmates must have felt. It was a very strong feeling and totally out of character for me.
Sandy, I really believe that there is a lot more to life than what we can see, feel or hear. But sometimes, we do get a taste of the "other" side.

I believe that we all have a guardian angel. One night, I asked my angel to touch me, just to let me know that he/she is there. Nothing happened and I fell asleep. About an hour later, I was startled awake, when I felt something touch me on the shoulder. Then I remembered what I had asked my guardian angel to do. :)

One more story. I was grocery shopping about 10 years ago, when I saw a guy, sitting on a bench in the store and obviously in a lot of pain. I went over to him and asked him if he was ok and would he like me to call someone, or maybe get an ambulance for him. He appreciated me checking on him and he told me that it was his appendix and that it had been acting up, but that it would settle down and he would be ok.

He then got up and continued shopping, but something was different. There was a very tall woman, about 7 feet in height, walking behind him. I hadn't seen her before, but she definitely was with him. She looked at me and smiled and then continued following him. Later on, I was at the register and I saw him sitting on another bench. The woman was sitting across from him, but he didn't look at her nor did he speak to her. Could I have seen his guardian angel?

When you talk about guardian angels, my mind instantly jumps to Clarence in It's a Wonderful Life.
Sandy, do you know what was different about Jimmy Stewart. He always played the mild mannered, Casper Milketoast, kind of guy, in his movies. In "It's a Wonderful Life", it was his brother who was the war hero. In "The Man who shot Liberty Valance" it was John Wayne who was the tough guy. Yet in real life, it was Jimmy Stewart, who wasn't a pushover. He was a B-17 pilot in WWII and stayed in the Air Force Reserves, retiring as a Brigadier General.

You live in a beautiful area, SandySu.

Argh!!!! 32 degrees out there and the sun isn't quite up yet. I certainly hope my trees are okay. I'll have to survey my queendom later. I'm debating whether or not to start a fire in the woodstove. I have a list of projects to work on but the most important is to get Nevada measured so I can order his harness. When Hubby gets home tonight, he is going to help me.

I sure felt sorry for that dog, Jer. What a scary story.

Interesting stories, peeps.

Good morning, Lizzie. I hope your plants don't freeze. Here, it's still early to plant anything sensitive. Monday, it went up to 80 degrees, and tonight, it'll go down in the 20s. I hate such madly swinging temperatures, but it's part of living in this area. When I lived in California, it was a pleasure to have more consistent temperatures day to day.

The biggest problem with spring here is the unpredictable cold weather. The trees are leafing out, if we get a hard freeze, the trees are set back in growing for the rest of the summer if their leaves get severely frozen.

So far, we didn't get low enough temps to do real damage.
