Sitting down, facing forward.
The nicest ocean water I have found is off the west coast of Florida, Treasure Island (back in the 80's) and Sanibel Island much more recently. In fact it was so warm I went in the pool after the ocean to cool down. Water temps around 85 or higher, literally like a bathtub.

I'm scared to swim in the ocean. My first trip to Florida when I was 18 and a guy caught a 3 foot shark in ankle deep water, he kept it in his condo's bathroom. LOL Then 2 years ago we get in our room unpack and go to look out our balcony and a 8 foot shark is cruising not 8 foot from the shore, people are running out of the water.

When we go to Panama City they have a swimming area at the park that is surrounded with rocks, that is where we let the kids swim and snorkle. Small fish can get in but not the large ones. :D

Bad enough in a tiled pool with a lot of strangers with varying hygene, but with fish, mosquito larvae, killer amoebae, snakes and alligators?

I love the water, just never learned to. It was required to graduate, but I had to fake it cuz I was too busy with the yearbook (co-editor).

Rave, some phones can charge directly from the pad, without an adapter. My dumb phone has GPS built into it along with a bunch of other stuff, like a pedometer, thermometer and a compass. Fun for me, but I've got a built in compass that seems fairly accurate.

Yep - haven't had a chance to research it (or buy one) but it's called an "inductive charging pad". My dumb phone must be dumber that yours. It could make calls and send texts. That's about it. Now, it's a paper weight.

Amen sister. :thumb: My BF and I have the same arrangement. I suspect neither of them like it much but in my case it's saving the relationship.

Yeah - I won't say that my BF is completely thrilled about the arrangement either, but he told me he won't "pop the question" because he knows that I don't want for him to do so. He understands and ... accepts it.

I'm with the majority here about the on screen keyboard. I just went from a smart phone with a slide out keyboard to one with an on screen keyboard and I can't type on it. I use voice commands to text but for everything else I have to use one of those pointy thingy's, otherwise I'll wear out the back button.

I started using a stylus too when I had to put in all of my contacts. Backspacing was driving me nuts.

Oh, I forgot to mention, my son is a computer software engineer and from what he says, 2 weeks (or more) is still a common estimate. Only if it's billable, of course, lol.

He is also one that's enjoys playing around with sounds/music. Yesterday he sent me the link to this site, Calibrated Background Noise Generators | Online & Free, you can set the sounds to fit your own hearing and use them to block unwanted background noises. Alternately, you can create your own pleasant background noise when you need one. He knows I have trouble with ringing in my ears at times, and thought this could help.

Neat link! I haven't had time to really look at it though. Too much goin' on right now, so I'll save it for later. Thanks!

Following along folks.
I feel sorry for Jeepers and hope you can save him.

I got about 14 trees on the new improved drip for the fruit trees. I am waiting for more supplies to get the rest done. There should be about ten left. I added the pine trees that are 25 feet from the end of each row of fruit trees onto the job. It just made sense to include them and I calculate that up to 30 trees that need plenty of water could go on this new system. I'll have less than 30 trees at 7 gallons per hour or less than 210 gallons per hour and I have 240 gallons per hour available.

Since the UPS guy won't get here until late and I really do need to rest up to clean a house tomorrow, this job will have to get finished over the weekend. Fortunately, I left the threes rows of trees that are left to get on the new system on the old system until I can work on this again.

The summer squash are plentiful but not getting bigger very fast. Is it due to all the high heat we have been having? I don't know.

I tried so hard to get a lot done during my eight straight days off. I did get a lot done but....there is still a bit left on the list. Oh well, I did my best. I'll chip away at the rest over the weekend.

Time to rest up and have lunch! Maybe read a book.

I have to wonder if your water bill is absolutely outrageous. Either that, or you have a generous well on your property. My well would go dry in an hour doing all of that. Seriously. :glare:

Boat - A hole in the water into which one pours money.

Pool - A hole in the ground, full of water, into which one pours money.

Whoa, Cindy---- Do I have a hot article for you!!

How to Build a Natural Swimming Pool - DIY - MOTHER EARTH NEWS

Now, Lizzie, settle down. :p

Well, I saved this link. I fully intend to dig a pond here, but not for swimming in. It'll be for attracting wildlife and for occasional fishing. Luckily, I have a BF with a backhoe/front-end loader and a dozer. That's helpful. I have several ravines that would be good candidates for damming up and filling. Thanks for the link! I have a book on making your own pond, but sometimes a link like this makes everything clearer more quickly.

Morning Volties, This will probably be my last post for several days. We are leaving this morning for Raven's Haven. Yippee!

You all have a great weekend. :)

:D YAY!!!

Good morning Voltpeas.

Hiya, Princess Evie. :)

Good luck and have fun, Terry.

I can swim, but I don't like swimming either.

Same here. I'm can swim, but I'd rather just sit at the edge of a natural body of water and contemplate. flood.gif

I'm with you, Evie, give me a nice pool or the ocean, but the ocean needs to be warm as in at least 80 degrees.

Terry, I hope this trip works out! Are you flying, tired arms, or training, trying to get it right, this time?

She and the BF are driving this time. They won't arrive until maybe Tuesday, but Wednesday is more likely. They'll be making stops along the way and not pushing the road too hard.

Ohhh Cindy - you can't even imagine the bodies of water in which I've had the dubious pleasure of swimming. But I'd choose any of those to a public swimming pool.

I still seem to be recovering from pneumonia, though it's been about a month. I do stuff one day, then rest up the next, so today I went to see Penny. It's been a while, between being tired and rainstorms. I notice that she's still shedding a lot, even though I clipped her. Of course, the shedding hairs are short, but they are still coming out. This is weird, since usually, she would have shed out by now and have her summer coat. The hair is growing back slowly, I think.

When I was ready to leave, Heather, one of the barn owner's daughters (remember I taught her to ride?) came out to feed the horses hay and turn out the ones who go to grassy pastures at night, Penny among them. I applied a new tube of Equi-Spot on Penny, cleaned out her feet, and then she was ready to go out again.

Jasper, her pasture mate, who is absolutely attached to Penny, was a real pain when I brought Penny in from the pasture, so Heather turned her out again. I do not need another injury from one of Penny's love-crazed amours!

Heather was going to walk to the library -- a couple of miles -- and it was in the mid-80s, too hot for a hike, so I drove her. So we could leave sooner, I helped her with her chores by cleaning out a water trough while she let the horses out to the night pastures. I really like Heather. I'm glad we got a chance to hang out together.

Then, of course, I came home, had some late lunch, and napped.

Tomorrow is the dragon boat festival, so it'll be a big day!

Ohhh crikeys. :( I can't like that one either. One of these days, I'm gonna have to convince the two of you that truly, airplanes are the way to go. I'm sorry, Terry. If you had AC in the car it would be okay. But traveling by car in that kind of heat without it is just too much.

BF and I picked up my Jeepers yesterday. They had completed their 56 point inspection and checked it against the extended warranty thing for rust to the cross members. I was told that since there are no holes in the cross members, there was nothing that they would do. It doesn't matter that the entire undercarriage of the car is rust held together by rust. :glare: It's a 2007 with only 59,000 miles on it for pete's sake!! For $198 I now have a working cigarette lighter and a new hub cap. Big whoop. I also paid for them to track the source of my Christmas tree light dashboard and all they tell me is that fixing the issue would cost thousands because of the amount of rodent damage. The whole wiring harness would have to be replaced. Oh - and that 56 point inspection didn't even uncover the fact that I had a rear brake light out. That has now been fixed by my BF.

Today I'll drive Jeepers down to his place and leave it with him to track down the wiring issue. He's got one more wheel bearing to replace, and he'll do that first. Then he'll trace the wire from the rear brake sensor and fish it through to see if he can repair any rodent damage that he sees. If that fixes the problem then we'll put off the rest until later. It'd be nice for Terry, her BF and I to have a car with AC to ride around in while looking at houses. We have 10 possibles that we want to look at. Ten! This is gonna be great!! :D

I am used to not having A/C in my cars but it is rough when it is that kind of hot out. Terry, you aren't used to that kind of heat. Make sure you drink plenty of water and have some snacks to stay hydrated. A mister bottle with some cooling water to spray on you would help!

I hate flying so the only other alternative is to drive. Raven, You have done an amazing job finding houses. Can't wait to see what the home options are!

Glad you are working on Jeepers. So not really funny that the 56 point inspection didn't even find the brake light that was out. Too bad about the rust issue. That sucks.

I'm going to tell Hubby I want to go fishing today. It's going to be 95 degrees today and over 100 tomorrow. Plus I need a day off!

I'm glad you have someone you like where you board Penny at SandySu. That's nice. It's good you got to see Penny. Hope the Dragonboat festival is fun. Pics please.

Who said don't over do it, Lizzie? Definitely too late to follow that advice. I was so sore and tired, I couldn't sleep Thursday night. I finally fell asleep and then woke up at 1am hurting bad. I got up and took some more Ibuprofen and finally got some sleep:)

I got through my cleaning job yesterday by taking Ibuprofen with breakfast and a mid morning snack. I hid my sorness and tiredness well from my client who is having me come again in two weeks.

Hubby says he will help finish this job. Thank goodness since my arms hurt, my hip hurts and I am dragging ....!
