I still seem to be recovering from pneumonia, though it's been about a month. I do stuff one day, then rest up the next, so today I went to see Penny. It's been a while, between being tired and rainstorms. I notice that she's still shedding a lot, even though I clipped her. Of course, the shedding hairs are short, but they are still coming out. This is weird, since usually, she would have shed out by now and have her summer coat. The hair is growing back slowly, I think.
When I was ready to leave, Heather, one of the barn owner's daughters (remember I taught her to ride?) came out to feed the horses hay and turn out the ones who go to grassy pastures at night, Penny among them. I applied a new tube of Equi-Spot on Penny, cleaned out her feet, and then she was ready to go out again.
Jasper, her pasture mate, who is absolutely attached to Penny, was a real pain when I brought Penny in from the pasture, so Heather turned her out again. I do not need another injury from one of Penny's love-crazed amours!
Heather was going to walk to the library -- a couple of miles -- and it was in the mid-80s, too hot for a hike, so I drove her. So we could leave sooner, I helped her with her chores by cleaning out a water trough while she let the horses out to the night pastures. I really like Heather. I'm glad we got a chance to hang out together.
Then, of course, I came home, had some late lunch, and napped.
Tomorrow is the dragon boat festival, so it'll be a big day!
