Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. I think you've had your quota of rain for the next 10 years. I guess I shouldn't say that. Next year, you might have a drought, even if it does sound like an impossibility now.

We've had drought years but they are few and far between.

The rain is really coming down now. I guess I'll be wearing earplugs tonight when I go to bed. It already sounds like bullets on my tin roof.

I'll say another early good night. Here's a peony from a bush in my yard. It's close enough to the house that I can smell the wonderful aroma of the flowers. It's also close enough that the ants it attracts sometimes come in to see if they can vary their diet.

BTW, I forgot to say before in my tutoring report. When I went to pick up the kids at the restaurant, their mom told me that the boy is no longer in ESL (English as a second language). He's proficient enough in English now that he's mainstream. I congratulated him and got the usual blase shrug. He doesn't beam when someone compliments him. I wonder why. Later, I asked him why he wasn't excited about his "graduation." He said he no longer gets to go to the computer room, and the work is harder. I said he should be proud of advancing. After all, a baby wants to grow up. He doesn't want to wear diapers forever. The boy seemed unconvinced.

Cindy, I'm sorry to hear your wrist is bothering you, too. Is it arthritis? If so, have you tried the joint supplements some people find help? The one most favored is a mix of glucosamine and chondroitin. I found out about it for horses. Also effective with some horses is MSM. Do they have that for people, too? And some find hyaluronic acid helps. These are neutraceuticals, not drugs. That is, they are things in your body, but you may need more to help creaky joints. Well, I don't know about MSM, but apparently, it's not harmful with side effects. Other than the glucosamine/chondroitin combo, I haven't seen the others marketed for people. Oh yes. There something newer, ASU, which is something from avocados. You might want to do research on their effectiveness in humans.

I tried a few different ones on Penny, and either she wouldn't eat them or they didn't make a difference, so I've given up. I tried devil's claw, too. That's an herb that's supposed to help arthritis pain.
It was/is my thumb (switches sides back and forth), not my wrist. Dunno what it is - could be some form of arthritis - I notice it getting better as the weather gets warmer (haha not that it gets all that cold here). Weird, huh? Mom left me her stinky Chinese liniments. I use that sometimes, but relief wears out sooo quickly - just long enough to do one thing, then I gotta rub on some more for the next thing. Massaging helps a little too, so they were good for that. And they do have all that stuff you mentioned for people too - I'm just waiting to get REALLY old and creaky before I go that route (not bad enough to go that drastic yet). But thanks!

Pffft! You and I will always find something to talk about!

Yeah, it's good news if that's what it is. I was just talking with BF. He said that it sounds an awful lot like a flex fracture which he had. It didn't show up on X-rays because it fits right back together if it's not bent just right and at the right angle when they take the X-rays. His finally showed up in a CT scan. If that's the case, it's probably what's wrong with the wrist too. But, what do I know?
Hmmm...I was so sure that's what it was with my left thumb. I woke up one morning with the achy right thumb (the other side from my fall). If that's what it is, must've been some dream!

Yikes! Does anybody know how to make it so it takes me to the post I just made after I post, instead of the first post of the thread? I just looked in "General Settings" and didn't see it.

It's one of the bugs from the upgrade they did. They are working on it and hopefully things will be back tomorrow. Some of the problems have been fixed but that one is still broke.

It sure does sound like arthritis. Sometimes an injury provokes it (traumatic arthritis), but sometimes it's just wear and tear on the joints. Warmer weather usually makes it better. But I've had traumatic arthritis from broken bones, and, weird person that I am, usually, it aches most when the weather is changing from rainy/snowy to bright and sunny. My theory is that this is because atmospheric pressure is higher when it's sunny.

The neutraceuticals are supposed to help prevent arthritis as well as making it less stiff and painful once it has set in, so you might consider trying one or more and seeing if it helps. Also, exercise, though painful at first, will help it hurt less once you are moving. If it hurts worse after moving the joint for some time, it may not be arthritis, and maybe movement would be bad for it. Like, if Raven has a broken bone, keeping it from moving would be the best thing.

I hope you both find a solution and hurt less. I think they can see arthritis in an X-ray, at least if it's advanced enough to show up.

Good morning, peeps. A delicious Sumatran coffee is on.

I tried multi quote but it didn't work out for me so I'll have to rely on my memory. This could go very wrong:)

SandySu - Wonderful pics, as usual. How is Penny the horse? Nevada is totally blowing out his coat right now and Wiseguy is half way there.

Awsum - Is the snow gone yet?

Terry - Sounds like a fun trip and, yes, we will need pics.

Cindycated - I am betting that you have a touch of arthritis. Maybe your right thumb started hurting because you couldn't use your left hand so your right hand was doing all the work? Then it got tired and started hurting.

Raven -Let us know how the cortisone cream is doing for you. Hope your wrist is improving.

It rained and it rained hard last night. Nice. However, the weeds are coming up fast and hard. Mostly cheat grass. I walk around most mornings for half and hour with the hula hoe trying to keep the weeds to a minimum. Cheat grass is bad because it comes up early, grows fast and dies as soon as the heat comes on. It then leaves little fox tails that can get into Penny Poo Poo's ears.

Now, the wind is howling. I'll have tofeed the horses a little at a time so a bunch of hay doesn't get wasted. Sounds like a day to clean my house.

When the weather clears up, I'll have to take a picture of my latest project. Hubby put in our larger pond. I think it is 250 gallons. It isn't huge but it is nice. I got the landscape cloth down and about a third of the rocks I need to cover it nicely. It is starting to come together and I am pleased with the results so far. I transplanted some dark red iris and some sky blue iris to casually hang out around it.

Of course, I have to haul in the rocks from the desert. A lot of work.

Then, we did another neat thing they both loved: I brought this book -- The Ultimate Alphabet: Mike Wilks: 9780805025163: Amazon.com: Books -- from home, with a plan to do one letter of the alphabet each lesson. Since the boy had left the room, his sister and I started hunting up objects that we saw in the first picture that started with the letter A, and she had to write them down. If she didn't know how to spell them, I spelled them for her, or if she misspelled then, I corrected her. After a while, her brother joined us. All 3 of us only found 36 of the possible 361 objects that begin with A. Read the Amazon reviews, and you'll understand why so many went unrecognized.

BTW, this book is just as much fun (maybe more so, if possible) for adults as for kids. Its intense artwork and obscure references make it a fascinating challenge for anyone, and if you don't know about this book, I think it's definitely worth buying. It'd be a good book for the bathroom.

PS: Here's what we'll be looking at on Saturday, the page for the letter B. There are 542 objects to find here. A B-rilliant test of your Apptitude: How many of the 538 objects beginning with B can you spot in this picture? | Mail Online

Oh wow! That's so cool! It is a definite advantage to know a lot of animals. :D

Looks what coming straight for me. 1 - 3" expected. :(

Just wondering how you made it through the storm. That one looked intense.

Hey Lizzie - The steroid cream makes it feel better for a half an hour or so, but it is only masking pain. That's not solving a thing. And, I quickly came to the conclusion this morning that I am unable to function without the brace on while it's all inflamed like it is right now. Don't care what the doc said. :glare: Going without it is only making it worse. Especially since I have to keep feeding this fire to heat my house.

Will you show us pics of your pond? I'd love to see it. Ooooh - irises! My favorite flower. That would be a lot of work to build and maintain in your environment, I imagine. But, how nice to have a cooling water feature like that, not only for aethetics, but for thirsty critters.

I got interrupted by Hubby calling, dawn feeding, got some housework going and finally some breakfast:) Can you tell it is spring around here. I havle plenty to do. Since the weather is kind of crappy, I decided to get housecleaning and laundry done today. Whilst doing house cleaning, I am putting away the stuff I bought at Costco so I had to reorganize the paper towel shelf, the TP shelf, well...you get the picture.

Speaking of Costco. Hubby got our new monitor on Monday. It is 23 inches and seems huge. Maybe that is good since you have to sit farther back to see it well. We hooked up the monitor and then had further problems. That is when I noticed the sticky keyboard.

Yeah, it came with the computer and has been sticky for a little while now. I had to go to town for lab work yesterday so I went to Costco and found the Logitech wireless solar keyboard and mouse combo. Got it running in no time and so far, I like it. Smooth keys for typing. No wires hanging all over the place on the desk pullout. I am thrilled we managed to update the computer system this year.

Oh, the lab work is just the usual stuff they like to do when they finally get you in their office. CBC, cholesterol, stuff like that. I actually feel fine. I didn't like this doctor so I am calling to make an appointment with the female doctor for the next time I am supposed to show up.

Alright, at least you can tell the doctor you tried his plan, Raven. Moving along, doc. Sorry to hear it didn't work but hoping, the doc will help you in the long run.

The irises love our climate and soil so they are easy to maintain. The pond itself isn't too bad either. The critters love a pond. The birds are going to have a nice area to drink from once the project is finished. We are making tow [or maybe three] mining sluice boxes that the water will run through and then back into the pond. We'll install a pump and hose to get the water to the top. Hubby has to do an electrical outlet from the house to the outside which means trenching and running a pipe for conduit. I'm lobbying for a four plug outlet so I can have a heater for the horses and goats during the next cold winter:) The pond will need a heater for the winter, too.

The water will go down one sluice box and then into the next one and maybe then into a third one. Most projects look best in threes so we shall see how this goes. The birds will love playing in the sluice boxes.

Morning gang. Aww Rave, I'm sorry the cream isn't helping much, sending some good healing vibes to you. Lizzie, you are the always so busy, I want to be like you when I grow up, lol. I didn't click your link to the book Sandy, but I'm heading there next. Those kids are lucky to have you tutoring them, you always find fresh ways to show them things. Terry, I hope you made it through the storm ok and will get at least a bit of sunshine soon.

It's 21° here, feels like 8°, but it is a sunny day and the icicles are dripping. We STILL haven't had a good melt, everyone (ok, mostly me) is SO sick of looking at snow, snow, snow!! It's driving me nuts, but I'm well acquainted with the route and travel it often, lol.

Have a happy day all!

I couldn't help laughing and suggesting this solution to your waterfall.

I like it. Maybe we could do it in redwood and Hubby could build an anti-gravity component into the mechanics.

We got hit pretty hard yesterday afternoon and all night with rain. I used earplugs so I over slept. It's now noon:15 and sunny but more rain is on the way. It's coming from the west so the Olympic Mts may shelter us from the worst of it.

They still haven't fixed the "view first unread post" so I'll be on Tapatalk reading until they get it fixed. I hate typing on my phone so I'll have to use my PC for posting so I probably won't be around much until they get this fixed.

Rave, sorry the cream isn't working but I was pretty sure it wouldn't. I've had cortisone shots in my shoulders (in the muscle) and they worked great at first but I got less relief time in between each shot after the first one. I don't think that is the answer for you either. If the bone is broken then it has to heal completely before the pain goes away for good. I wonder why they haven't put a cast on your wrist until the bone heals. Maybe I missed something in your explanation of the problem. I'm sure they'll get it fix though.
