Yes, we may not be able to go to Tioga Pass in Yosemite although the one fire sort of near there may not be a threat. We aren't sure. We have a lot of area available so we can always go somewhere else! Hubby is threatening me with a three and a half mile high altitude hike to go after the infamous Golden Trout. We shall see.

The Golden Trout is a beautiful trout that only lives in the eastern Sierras south of Tahoe and a couple of rivers in California [at the headwaters only, I think]. It is a high altitude trout that has a golden sheen and is very colorful.

Great photos, Raven, and I loved the action video of your BF operating the chute gate Reminded me of the West. Except the part where there are trees, shrubbery and tall grass and the color green is everywhere

I'm not doing much today but I will take some photos of my asters. They are really looking good this year.

Looks like it will start cooling down a bit starting the day we leave to go camping. Isn't that the way it always works? Looks like it won't be too bad but we will have temps in the forties at night and the high seventies in the day time. Of course, the mountains will be cooler by ten degrees.

Thanks Lizzie! Living out in my part of Indiana might be rather like living the Western lifestyle without the lack of water and greenage. We're spread out and have to be fairly self-sufficient. We have to be aware of the land and weather. It's a whole different life from living in a town.

Are your asters wild or cultivated? I have wild asters that will be coming up soon. I'd like to grow some cultivated ones next year with more showy blooms and see if they will self-seed. Love asters ...

Your camping temperatures sound ideal to me. Warm enough to play in the day and good snuggling temperatures at night.

Lizzie, don't I remember pictures of you camping in the snow? This cooler spell shouldn't be that cold, or at least I hope it isn't. It'll make sitting by the campfire more rewarding.

Ahhh - sitting by a campfire is always rewarding. We're hoping that the weather won't conspire against us so that we can camp down by the creek this weekend. The kids will be home to take care of the house and the gliders.

Well Jeepers didn't make it home last night. A clip that had been adhered to the bearing plate by my BF's mechanic didn't stick well enough. As my BF was pulling out into traffic, Jeepers threw on the brakes and darn near got him killed. Looks like we'll have to replace the derned bearing plate because that clip is a part of it. So ... I will hopefully get Jeepers back this weekend. Fingers and toes crossed. I've been too long without a vehicle and it's grating against my independent spirit.

Yeah - no kiddin'. That's why BF will be putting on the bearing plate himself. He didn't want to jury rig the thing in the first place, and is now kickin' himself for not trusting his instincts and letting the mechanic do that.

The kids have been making rather slow progress on the house. Sometimes, young folks have no real concept of time. It would be best for them to get the house closed in before winter. But they have been fighting rainy weather and have been taking trips back to Illinois for a couple of weekends when they had good weather and could've worked on the house. Now that my son got a ton of Menards and Home Depot gift cards for his birthday, they have the capability to buy more lumber and really get moving. I hope they buckle down and do so. This is gonna be a long, sloooow process, I fear.

Here is their new power tool storage shed. That large drum on the left is a huge fan. Their tools weren't in the shed because they were using 'em when I took the shot.

People however are more difficult to repair, good thing your BF wasn't hurt rave.

I see progress looks cool! Remind him to install ethernet cables all over lol. Wood houses look easy (or is it me?), i like it.

It's tough to build and have real jobs so I think they are doing great!

Glad the BF is okay after Jeepers coming to a sudden halt.

Today i had to make a small operation to my centrifugal clutch and remove the new springs (provided WITH the new exhaust) they were harder and the bike started moving at 7000rpm and above, i had to ride with full throttle all over the place. Was almost to be know as "the crazy guy who rides allways full throttle" meaning a person riding a scooter with his hands on the handle bar and his feet on the air. Could jump from traffic lights faster than a ferarri.
Replaced back the stock springs and it starts moving from 4000rpm, less noise, more control, less wear. Feewww!

Yeah - wood houses are relatively easy. He made it a bit harder on himself by designing in 9' walls. Don't ask me why. I have no idea. He has a few crazy ideas that he's designing in too. Sure hope he knows what he's doin'. One good thing is that they are designing the house with an addition in mind for when the family grows.

I'm extremely grateful that my BF wasn't hurt. Actually, he was repaired a couple of decades ago. He's a living version of The Six Million Dollar Man without all of the cool bells and whistles. I can just imagine the surgeons saying "Gentlemen - we can rebuild him. We have the technology." He was hit head on by a semi (not his fault) and sustained nearly two hundred fractures and broken bones. The janitors at the hospital were taking bets for the first couple of weeks about whether or not he'd survive. One of them told him! They actually had to take one bone from a lower leg and move it up to his thigh. The bone there was too shattered to repair. The man's half made of metal. I'm exaggerating, but still ...

Oh jeesh! I want to see a video of that!! But then again, I'm glad that you've dialed it down. That sounds much more prudent.

I heard a really neat piece of music on the car radio coming home from the barn today. Unfortunately, I only heard the tail end, which is so often the case, so I looked it up online, and if you want to hear it, too, go to http://performancetoday.publicradio.org/listen/?year=2014&month=09&day=16 and choose Hour 1, then move the little button forward to about 35:15. It's La Noche de los Mayas by Silvestre Revueltas. I love the conga drums in it! The last part is very dynamic and powerful.

Good morning. Last to post and then the first? Am I hogging Voltville? Anyway, this song has been in my head, so I'll share. It's from the album Bookends, which has some very good songs on it. I guess autumn coming, and me being in the autumn of my life makes it resonate, though I liked it when I was young, too.
