I was looking at the Orchid, it is much less expensive than the Taifun. So do you recommend it for a first rba?
Well, since you've been building for awhile... Not much to it, really. Dual coil, but each wire leg gets its own post hole - set it up like two staggered staples when deciding which ones to use (I think that's called "centerpost build"). Just take it slow and try to go for symmetry. The wicking might get a little fiddly, but that's true for pretty much all of them. If you're comfortable with that, then sure.

Oh, make sure you get the one with the fill hole on the bottom (V2). The V1s didn't have that, and it's a PITA. There's a really pretty one that just came out today (V3) and that's basically just the V2 with the chimney lopped off to accommodate the KFL Nano tank. Plus the free drip tip. If you were inclined to do that later, and you didn't already have the extra parts lying around, it would cost you a lot more than the extra couple of bucks to piece it all together like that.

If you like airflow, you should try the Orchid V2. Super easy to build too, even though it's dual coil. My only conundrum with it is in trying to "Kayfunnisize" it with all my fun KF stuff (special top caps, different tanks,..). Reminds me of all those goofy souped up VWs with Rolls engines.

I just started with RBAs - got one of each - and really enjoying my Pulse genny. So much so that I'm thinking about the Sat 22 genny. But I didn't mess with mesh. I skipped right over to rayon. Rayon wicks really well in it if you wisp out the tail.

I haven't tried the TF either. I heard it puts out really well, but it's 23mm wide, so it'll have to wait 'til I can get a 23mm mod to go with it.

 I've got all of the KF special stuff too! I mean, you've gotta be able to soup things up, right? I was eye-balling the Orchid, but didn't want to dual coil. Looks like FT hasn't restocked the Pulse. :?: Playin' with that rayon you sent me in some of my RDA's and RBA's is next. Baby steps ...

Good morning, Voltpeeps. I haven't been on the forum much, but I wanted to stop by and say hello to you nice people. :)

Hiya Jerry! :)

The zinnias are still blooming.

The asters look fantastic this year. They are not wild asters. They are a domesticated variety. We will see wild asters when we go to the high country, I would think.

 Just stunning, Lizzie - WOW!

Lizzie, your asters look pretty much like the ones that grow wild around here. They are blooming now along with lots of goldenrod. Here are our wild asters, taken some time ago, not recently.

Maybe they are a domestic variety that went wild?

We also have a variety that grows wild that has pale blue petals and is just a little smaller.

OK, I found a picture of the blue kind. The pine (actually fir, not pine, I just realized) branches just happened to be growing close by, they aren't part of the aster plant, of course.

Sandy - my wild asters look like those in your second picture. They're all over the place in season, and last into the fall longer than the other flowers. I'll never quite forgive you for that first aster picture. When I turned it into a jigsaw puzzle, my head almost blew up! confused.gif explode.gif And ... I just now stole the second photo for a puzzle. It's beautiful!!

I'm around, Lizzie, just not posting much, plus I have been doing other things. After almost 5 years on the forum, I'm getting a bit tired of "forum life". Maybe that will change, especially with the cold weather just around the corner.

8-o Wait. Hold up. Y'mean there's another life other than forum life?!?! whoa no way.gif *shudder* Naw - I enjoy my forum life during the week when I have no one to share adventures with. That'll change when Terry gets here. I have a feeling that we'll have a riot when we're both so inclined.

scratchchin.gifHmmm - actually, while I appreciate the beauty of the human form, I wouldn't be attracted to someone that spends hours a day working on his physique like those men must have done. Brains are much more attractive than brawn. Just sayin'.

I was just thinking that....nice to look at for about a minute, but that's about it for me. I prefer cute and cuddly...but not too pudgy. Smart, but not too smart, and really funny. :thumb:

Cindy - I suspect that you highly underestimate the degree of intelligence that you could keep up with just fine.

Hey all Voltpeeps, I hope everyone is doing well. :)

My son's game was on Friday night. He hurt his knee that night and I barely kept from having an attack. Hospital Friday night then MRI on Monday to find he only had a partially torn ACL and yesterday his first therapy session. In 2 weeks he can play football again with a $1200.00 special made brace. This mom don't want him playing anymore. :(

https://www.fasttech.com/products/1850901 This is what I have my eyes on. My Ω's are pretty stable. I know that they have to be the same. And since I am going to be using 32 ga. and 3 ml silica to begin with, dual coils will work fine. It has instructions in mangled English, doesn't it?

Yeah, I actually don't go for the body-builder type, I don't like the personality type that goes with it.

Oh no - I don't blame ya!

Well then, smart enough to get me, but not so smart that my head hurts everytime we're hanging out. And preferably someone who knows how to fix cars.

 Yeah - being able to fix cars is a definite plus. Someone that's willing to teach me how to fix a car is even better! My BF has a '68 Mustang sitting in his garage waiting to be rebuilt. He's got another '68 Mustang sitting out in the back forty waiting to be cannibalized for parts. He's promised that we can work on it together. :D

I'll tell ya what - fat, skinny, short, tall, hairy, bald - doesn't matter at all when it comes right down to it. There's no adventure more exciting than exploring the mind of an intelligent man. Having been married to an actual rocket scientist for 25 years, we found that were never bored.

Auto mechanic skills, intelligent-- definitely. But differing values was what killed my marriage.

They have a new V3 Orchid in the New Arrivals today that doesn't have the cloudy outer tank. It's only a few dollars more.

Um, I don't think so, but lots of info online, if you need it. Probably the one danger is going too low on resistance, but that's really, really hard to do with 32g, so you should be safe...but flavor's so much better with rayon. Just sayin'. I'd offer to send you some, but my "infinite supply" box is actually starting to get low now.
