Lizzie, good for you "calling in sick". As busy as you keep yourself you should take a day off every now and then. Then, again, knowing you, you probably did some stuff in the house or outside anyway.

I got the drip system set up and started planting. I wanted the irrigation running today so the tomato plants would get some water, Mrs. Awsum bought one each of four "heirloom" varieties, so they were actually transplants. I got the pole beans and carrots in as well as the cucumbers and watermelons in as well. Tomorrow will be eggplant and broccoli. I know it's kind of late for broccoli but it'll grow.

Speaking of watermelon, what's going on with yours, Tritium? No photos yet?

It's a cool, breezy, day here. I hate breezy days. It drives the security camera crazy with the moving shadows during the day and the dust/pollen blowing around in the infrared at night. We also have foot deep drifts of oak threads gathering in sheltered areas. My dark green Jeep is now a light yellowish green from the oak pollen. It's everywhere and very heavy this year, or maybe it's just my perception.

Yep. I've got it in the woods in spades. It's everywhere!

Good morning, Voltmaniacs.

Wow, that was quite the show last night. American Idol went above and beyond. Rayvon [a contestant] sang beautifully with Jaimie Fox.

Yes, I did wander around the yard a bit with a trash can doing a bit of clean up yesterday but I kept it to a minimum.

Today is super cloudy. It might rain. My gardening buddy is supposed to be coming over so we can plant beans.

Everything is starting to burn up around here except for mustard greens. Not nearly enough rain. The grass is crunchy when you walk across it. I mended fences yesterday in the burning sun. 92* and three feet of sunshine. We've got a little cloud cover this morning but I doubt if it's going to rain.

moanin', Volties.

It's crunchy here, too. No rain of any significance in almost a month, which is unusual. It was 44 when I got up but is supposed to get up to the mid 70's, at least, with three feet of sunshine on top of the six inches of oak threads. There might be some thunder storms on Saturday and Sunday but that's about it. Makes me glad I have the drip system for the garden but the lawn not does need water badly.

I wish it would rain all night here. Be glad to swap for that. There's a fire alert for the whole area but we've been lucky, so far, with only one big fire in Wharton State Forest.

"You" will have your wish come true this weekend . . .

So far no rain here. Hubby called me this morning and said there was rain in the Pine Nut Mountains but so far, nothing here.

I lit a fire and warmed up the house. It's lovely to go outside and do a bit and then come inside to warm up.

I made an oriole feeder and at least one oriole is eating the grape jelly:) So cool.

I could not get the camera fast enough today. I saw an almost white Bluejay or at least that is the type of bird I thought it was. I say white, it was kind of ghostly looking - whites with light grays. I promise - I am no bird expert - love to look at them, but know little about them.

A chance of thunder storms doesn't count a rain and that's what is forecast by the weather guessers. No problem with drought, yet, after all the rain earlier this spring but it sure has been dry for the last month or so. They got lucky with that forest fire, the wind died down and it got foggy in the morning on two consecutive days.

moanin', Voltatics.

That test is interesting and does show the vast difference between tobacco smoke, combustion, and vaping, vaporization. It really doesn't take rocket science to figure out if there is no combustion, burning, there will be little or no particulates produced. It was a little "none real world" in the cycle rate of the puffs/drags which would make the cigarette burn at a much higher, sustained, temperature and probably produce even more particulates. The bottom line is that vaping produces, basically, zero by products.

My doctor tells me my lungs sound completely clear now that I'm totally off tobacco. I know that is not a scientific test but if NJ passes anything like Indiana or if the FDA "deems" I will, consciously, break the law to avoid tobacco.

Good morning, Voltmaniacs.

Well, it is very cloudy still but virtually no rain. We got a few stray drops in the evening and overnight. There is still a good chance for rain today. Crossing my fingers.

I have a fire going in the wood stove. Once it warms up a bit in the house, I will open the patio sliding door and listen to the birds sing from inside my cozy home.

We have at least one lady hummer in the yard. I hope she is nesting.

The little birds are thrilled with our yard. Various types of sparrows, hummers, we had a beautiful yellow warbler that hasn't stayed, a pair of mockingbirds, purple finches, and the occasional gold finches. Oh yes, and the orioles.

So, I decided to comment on the new call to action by CASAA. There is a form and it is being submitted to a number of senators and the Prez. It is so that the grandfather date for ecig products can be changed for the better.

Here is my personal comment.

Hi and thank you for reading,

I'm just a regular person who smoked for 30 years. About three years ago I found ecigs. I didn't quit at first but after finding a flavor and a set up that I liked, I managed to do the impossible. I quit smoking.

On May 18th, 2015, I will be smoke free for two years. And I am content, not climbing the walls, not dreaming about smoking. So unlike the gum, lozanges, patches that I have tried before. Certainly nothing like "cold turkey" either.

Here's the crux of the matter. Vaping is, I am not making this up, well over 90% better for you than smoking. Maybe even as much as 99% better for you than smoking.

Seriously, the ingredients are found in asthma inhalers and nicotine inhalers. The only difference, basically, is a bit of flavoring.

More research is being done all the time and it points to no second hand contamination, as well as very few problems for individuals who vape instead of smoking.

Also, please consider the economic impact for your constituents whether they are small businesses or consumers who are saving money by not smoking. Small vape shops and such are adding to the life blood of the American economy. I may be saving money over smoking but I am spending that money and much of that spending is local. My husband and I eat out more often now and we buy more consumer goods.

Yes, I know, tax monies are down since people have been leaving smoking for vaping. Find another way to fund instead of relying on making people sick so government can get some money. And don't forget, the government is making up for some of that money with the state and local sales tax since people with more money can buy more consumer items. At least, that is true here in Nevada.

Please consider what the rest of the message says.

I know we rarely make a difference but in the case of ecigs, I have to try,
