That flower is incredible. Is it an Asiatic lily?

Good morning Voltpeeps. We got some rain last night, Yay.

I have to clean two houses today.

Good morning, garden peeps. You don't want to stack wood against the house, it's an invitation for insects to make your home, their home and always check the wood for insects, before you bring it inside.
Aha. You are right. Invasion of the body-snatching termites.

moanin', Voltinians.

I was wondering about the termite problems with a house or walls built out of firewood. My neighbor had a wood box on the outside of the house, next to the chimney, with a door inside for convenient access to wood without dragging it through the house. Unfortunately, he needed an exterminator, more than once, from the critters in the wood getting warmed up enough to start roaming even in the winter.

For the life of me I cannot remember what type of lilly that is...I have had them for over 4 years now along with some bright orange ones(the orange just finished blooming).

I just got some Lillies of the valley a couple weeks ago :) Did you see the yukka plant behind the lillies? Here is its bloom right now:

The stock on it is impressive :)

The yukka blooming this year is a young one and it is its first bloom. The oldest one/section on the left, the last time it bloomed the year before last you should have seen how thick and tall it was. It actually was as tall as the building in the picture. My boyfriend and I call the yukka blooms asparagus [emoji14] [emoji5]

Good morning, 0mg. My uncle had to call an exterminator because of an invasion of carpenter ants, that entered his house through his firewood.
Carpenter ants are as bad as termites for sure!
Those are as bad as, or even worse than, termites.
When we first bought our house we tore the bathroom apart to redo it, and carpenter ants poured out of the floor [emoji54] It was just creepy! Lol We knew before busting into the floor that there was going to be either carpenter ants or termites. We killed and exterminated them, but it was not easy. We ended up having to replace some main frame beams in the bathroom and kitchen. It creeps me out how big those things are! I think the worst part was the cleanup....

Good morning, Awsum !!! Yup, termites and carpenter ants.....nasty creatures.

Add wood roaches to the list of creepy crawlies that enter with firewood. The wood roaches lay their eggs beneath the bark of the firewood and hatch when the temperature is just right. Like in a house!

Hiya Folks! I'm back. Sorta. Feeling subdued and reclusive. Sure was nice to read all of your posts though. Feels like ... home.

It'll take as long as it takes. Just do what you want, and you will soon be back to "normal".

Two inches of rain predicted for tomorrow.

Nice to see you again, Rave.

Ducky, (love that nick, LOL) you saved me taking and posting photos to find out, for certain, what kind of plant that is we have on the side of our yard near the west fence. I thought it might be a yucca, based on the leaf shape, but you just confirmed it. We've been here for five years and last year was the first time it bloomed. The main stalk went up about six or seven feet tall before it put out buds. There are two of them right next to one another. Last year the one on the left bloomed, this year the one on the right has a stalk about six feet tall and is loaded with buds. I fertilized last year with a slow release fertilizer, the soil here is really poor, and I think that may have helped it bloom.

Their blooms are very interesting, and beautiful! The height is amazing! Our yucca plant was here when we bought our place about 4 1/2 years ago as well. The first time its stalk started growing we were amazed, because it was just there one day about 3ft tall and continued to grow taller and taller until it bloomed. Last year the second yucca plant was born :) Sometimes I have thought about transplanting it somewhere else where it could have more space, but I then am afraid what if it does not handle the teansplant....plus I have those 2 lilly plants that grow really close to it and do not want to hinder them! I love lillies. I have noticed that the yucca does not bloom every year, and I talked to a few different people and the years mine did not bloom theirs did not either and they said theirs did not bloom every year. So, I do not know if they do not bloom every year or something causes them to bloom or not bloom.

I haven't got a clue about their blooming/reproductive cycle either. It was amazing to watch that stalk grow, a foot or so tall one day just sticking up above the leaves, then four feet tall a day or two later. Flora can be very amazing as well as beautiful!

Remember that Yucca is primarily a desert plant. They have a very long and deep tap-root, and if you do not dig down deep enough, it will not recover. Best to let an established one be.
