I dont mind snakes at all. When they get bigger than 3 feet long though(since I have chickens and ones that big always find the eggs it seems.) I get paranoid about them. We had a 6 ft one living in the walls of the coup a few years ago. That thing was huge! His head was about as big as an egg. He was stealing eggs everyday, and he could have literally choked a chicked to death. I will never forget "Black Daddy" (lol I called him the Daddy of black snakes he was so big) I just don't like ending their lives :( I have only killed one snake....and I cried afterwards because i felt so bad. It was a little over 5 ft long (i cannot remember if it was 5ft or 5 1/2 feet long), and it was chasing my baby ducks a couple years ago.

Good morning, Voltpeeps.

98 degrees yesterday and should be just about as hot today. I am planning on getting out of here as early as possible so I can come home as early as possible:)

No, we didn't get the deck done. We have all the framework done and 6 deck boards down. Hopefully we will finish this up next weekend.

In the meantime, lots to do and less time to do it.

'moanin, Voltatics.

It didn't get quite as warm yesterday, only 90, and it never did rain here. South of us got pretty battered though, 80mph wind gusts and lots of rain and lightening. It's supposed to get up to 90 or so today so I'm working outside this morning.

I went to Costco yesterday and ended up spending most of the afternoon portioning and putting away the foods. I think "prep" time when we cook never manages to include the "prep" time portioning it all out in advance.

Ducky, keep us updated on the eggs/chicks. I've seen a few black snakes around here, nothing recent though. Most have been in the three to four foot range. I leave them alone, they go their way, I go my way. I figure they're good for small pest control, mice, burgeoning rabbit and squirrel populations and such. When I was a kid we would hunt milk snakes and keep them as pets for a few days before letting them go again. Used to drive my Mom nuts!

I will keep you guys updated! I hope they hatch! I will be heart broken for Momma hen if they do not hatch, because she will be so sad.
Ever since I was a kid I have always liked snakes. I do not know why, but I just have always found them interesting. I just dont have the heart to kill them, and the time when I had to...I found it really hard to do. It is the only thing I think I have ever killed in my life. For me, I feel that every life matters. Thankfully I have only had to kill 1, and my Husband has only had to kill I think 1 or 2 in 6 years. Both of us hated to do it, because they are great for catching field mice. If we did not have chickens it would not even be a thought to hurt them. Yesterday my oldest husky was tracking something around the new coup, and he was being very cautious. I figured it was a snake, because he acted the same way when him and I saw the black snake the other day. I went and got a flashlight, and i found a decent size snake inside of one of the cement blocks. I went and got my Husband, and he said it was a grass snake. I could not believe it was garder snake! It was the biggest one I had ever seen. They normally are not that big. It was funny, because it had a big cricket and a bunch of cicadas in there with it! Lol We left it alone :)

I've found that garder snakes are very aggressive, even the little ones. Never been bitten, but I usually just stomp to scare them off or go do something else until they leave. They are good for insect and small varmint control, too.

    Good morning, Voltmaniacs.

The sun isn't up yet but will be arriving soon. I need to get my work done early and then get in the house! The new French doors are awesome. I open them up early in the morning and let lots of cool air in. Supposed to be pretty warm today.

I am going to my friend's house to do some irrigation lines for her.

We haven't seen a gopher snake in the yard yet this year. Probably keeping a low profile.

It's cloudy and fairly cool here and we may, actually, get some rain. I'm hoping, I like to mow while the ground is still damp.

I went for blood work this morning and it was a complete bust. At my last office visit the Doctor said the prescription would be transmitted electronically, no paper needed. Cool, right? It is if it works, I guess. So, I'll be rescheduling my appointment based on when I get a PAPER COPY of the lab work prescription.

The electronic seems to work for prescriptions but not so much for lab work:)

I think the whole thing kind of stinks. All that information is out there, on multiple servers, and just a hack away. Think about it, complete medical records, social security numbers, addresses, probably driver license numbers and on and on. Maybe I need a tin foil hat, but when they asked for my license this morning I showed it and held it for their perusal and would not surrender it to be copied. Next time I'm taking a document with me, for them to sign, that states that they accept liability for any and all damages if the information on their system is stolen. Wonder how that will go?

Oh, and the kicker, the reason I was given that the electronic document wasn't in the system was that their system had been recently upgraded and they lost a lot of data, and this is a large medical lab company. Kind of makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

    'moanin, Voltvillians.

Wonder how Rave, Uncle, Wuzz and everyone else is doing?

Ducky, keep us posted on the chicks, I know you're expecting them to hatch any time now.

Another day of sort of blah weather. There's a front stalled south of here, Virginia, and we're getting a lot of clouds but now rain. All of it has stayed just south of us. We sure could use some, it's getting a tad dry out there. Weather is cyclic, or is that spastic, though so there will be rain in the not too distant future. At least the clouds have been keeping the temps relatively low.

Watching the weather in Thessaloniki makes me happy with what we have. At night we drop to anywhere from 50 to 70. Over there it stays above 80.

    Good morning, Voltmaniacs.

Hate trying to sleep when it is hot at night. Poor Trit! When I lived in California we used to put the TV outside in the evening since the house was too hot! I had a water bed so I would turn the water bed down a degree or two and that helped cool me off for sleeping:)

I spent three plus hours doing irrigation lines with my neighbor yesterday. It got so hot and she had a cold so we finally quit. I have to go back and do 20 or so more wine barrel sprinklers.

I am afraid my arms are pretty sore but I have a house to clean today so I'll be outta here later. The high is going to be only 88 degrees today.

Yes, I am wondering about our Voltpeep friends as well, awsum.

Squeal!! I peeked under Dumfy this morning.... I saw 1 baby chick! Yay! Its black and yellow. I think I heard a second one, but I did not want to disturb anything. One wrong move and its very easy to screw up others hatching, and it lets the heat and moisture out every time I peek under her. Once that lil cutie pie pops it's fat lil head out I will snap a picture! I am stalking them today!!
