My Dad use to say that all the time but there was more. "Slicker than snot on a door knob". Eeeuuuuwww!

I love the ninjas description.

No, no, no - It's supposed to be "slicker'n snake snot!"

I don't get taken back to the first post, either. Actually, so far, this thread has been behaving normally for me.

Took me to the first post too. I guess it's still not 100%, but that's better than 0%. Just sayin'.

Hi folks!! Waving%20smiley-happy059.gif Y'all sure have been quiet! 'Course, we've all had grumpy weather and then ECF went down, so I guess there's good reason for that. Just thought I'd check in to see how everyone is doing. I'm fine. Still playing Cinderella without glass slippers. I prefer my Minnetonkas.

My appointment with the surgeon that specializes in Rheumatology is today. I'm actually kinda looking forward to it. All of these years, I just thought that this was an MS symptom. Come to find out that there may actually be something that can be done about it. Other than drugs. I don't want any more of those, thank you very much. If I took as many as my doctors want for me to take, I'd be like a zombified ant. confused.gif

Bummer about the monitor, Lizzie. Ya feeling any better? How are the new doggies doin'?

Sandy - that's a brilliant idea with the comfy chair.

Celti - Don't feel bad. I've been on ECF since 2009, and still can't figure out a lot of it. 'Course, I don't wander around much anymore. But still ...

Hey Terry! Long time, no talk with! Sorry I had to cut us short last night. Can't wait until you come to Blakesburg woods to play. :D

Hiya Awsum and Uncle and Q and Wuzz and everyone else that I didn't mention cuz I have CRS Syndrome.

Where the heck is CatLady? I miss her. :(

It's good to see you back, Rave. What do you expect will be the solution the rheumatology doctor suggests? What symptoms will it help? I'm curious, as usual.
Thanks Sandy. It's good to be back. :)

Excruciating pain in my left wrist and the joint at the base of the thumb. Can't even lift a coffee cup anymore and I end up wearing a brace most of the time and trying to function one-handed. I'm hoping that there is a surgical remedy cuz I won't take painkillers. They make me kiss tile.

Let us know how it goes. I guess surgery would be a good option if you could use your hand again, but surgery is serious business. How long would be your hospital stay? Would you need physical therapy afterward? I found that very helpful after my broken arm and surgery to fix it. Sending vibes that it all works out for the best.

I still don't see the arrows or Settings. But there's an option on my screen that says View First Unread. My screen may be different because I use a different browser, Safari. I have a Mac, so lots of things are different for me.

Sorry about that. I didn't know you were using Mac. I don't even see View First Unread msg and most people that do see it say it doesn't work. I'm still have to work from the last post and scroll up. :(

I've had this one of and on since November. At first I thought it was from a fall I had, until it switched sides. Sucks - couldn't turn keys on door knobs, had no torque to do any kind of construction, had trouble doing dishes, and a whole bunch of things that you need opposable thumbs for (like unscrew my EVOD to refill or turn the Spinner dial - had to use pliers). Had trouble with the coffee cup thing too. Just don't know how important little things are until they don't work. Really missed them. Getting better now though. Let me know what you find out. But I won't do painkillers or surgery, so...

That's ok. I know BF's come first. :p

Since you brought it up I can now tell about my trip.....to Blakesburg woods? I thought I was going to Raven's Haven. I could end up in Timbuktu. So I'm planning a trip to see Rave in May. I'm hoping the weather is better then and warm enough to spend a lot of time in her woods. I'm getting excited now because at first I was planning to fly and I hate flying so I was more nervous than excited but now I'm taking the train so I can't wait. Is it May yet? We've know each other for a couple years now so it will be great to finally meet her and check out her woods, campsites, gliders, botts, paintings, meet her family and learn a few things about CAD and DIY. Whoot! I can't wait. :D

I'm back. Well - the doc thinks that I broke one of the bones in my thumb and that I just keep rebreaking it when I take the brace off. But, he's not sure. The wrist has him uncertain because it was behaving itself while I was there. So, I had to get X-rays. He prescribed a steroid gel to put on both sites and he won't let me wear the brace while I'm using it. This is gonna be uncomfortable. If the gel doesn't work, the next step is cortisone shots. If that fails, it's probably off to surgery. A lot will depend on what he sees in the X-rays.

Raven's Haven is Blakesburg Woods. I just call it that because the town of Blakesburg used to be here until it was wiped out by a flood. There are still a few remnants of it, but not much. My neighbors across the creek stole the millstone from the ginseng mill that was down at The Cliffs in the 1800's. He has it in his barn. :glare: I'm really looking forward to your visit too. There's a lot to show you, but I'm sure there's quite a bit you could teach me too. What I'm really anticipating is sitting in front of a camp fire and just talking till we go hoarse.

I can relate, Cindy. Trying to accomplish all of those things are killer. Wild that it switched sides! What I look forward to most, other than being able to do all of those little things painlessly, is working out again.

This is good news because it's fixable and not related to MS. YAY!

If we don't stop talking on the phone we won't have anything to talk about when I get there. :p I'm soooooo looking forward to this trip.

Cindy, I'm sorry to hear your wrist is bothering you, too. Is it arthritis? If so, have you tried the joint supplements some people find help? The one most favored is a mix of glucosamine and chondroitin. I found out about it for horses. Also effective with some horses is MSM. Do they have that for people, too? And some find hyaluronic acid helps. These are neutraceuticals, not drugs. That is, they are things in your body, but you may need more to help creaky joints. Well, I don't know about MSM, but apparently, it's not harmful with side effects. Other than the glucosamine/chondroitin combo, I haven't seen the others marketed for people. Oh yes. There something newer, ASU, which is something from avocados. You might want to do research on their effectiveness in humans.

I tried a few different ones on Penny, and either she wouldn't eat them or they didn't make a difference, so I've given up. I tried devil's claw, too. That's an herb that's supposed to help arthritis pain.

How exciting! We want pictures, of course.

It finally happened to me with the last post. When I hit Post Quick Reply, which makes my post appear here, it sent me back to p. 1. Luckily, History in my browser brought me right back. Let's see what happens when I post this message.

Pffft! You and I will always find something to talk about!

Yeah, it's good news if that's what it is. I was just talking with BF. He said that it sounds an awful lot like a flex fracture which he had. It didn't show up on X-rays because it fits right back together if it's not bent just right and at the right angle when they take the X-rays. His finally showed up in a CT scan. If that's the case, it's probably what's wrong with the wrist too. But, what do I know?

Time for the tutoring report.

Today, the big hit was that I brought crystals so the kids could see actual ones made by nature in rocks. They love that kind of stuff, and now they want to go out and buy crystals. I told them there was probably a store in The Commons (which is near their restaurant) where they could buy some. The boy asked how much they cost, and I said it varies on how big and beautifully formed they are.

When it came to reading how crystals are formed, the boy wasn't interested, and in order to sit in the prized office chair, the girl tried, but it was really too complex for her, so I let her stop after a few paragraphs of struggling.

Then, we did another neat thing they both loved: I brought this book -- The Ultimate Alphabet: Mike Wilks: 9780805025163: Amazon.com: Books -- from home, with a plan to do one letter of the alphabet each lesson. Since the boy had left the room, his sister and I started hunting up objects that we saw in the first picture that started with the letter A, and she had to write them down. If she didn't know how to spell them, I spelled them for her, or if she misspelled then, I corrected her. After a while, her brother joined us. All 3 of us only found 36 of the possible 361 objects that begin with A. Read the Amazon reviews, and you'll understand why so many went unrecognized.

BTW, this book is just as much fun (maybe more so, if possible) for adults as for kids. Its intense artwork and obscure references make it a fascinating challenge for anyone, and if you don't know about this book, I think it's definitely worth buying. It'd be a good book for the bathroom.

After that, they did a word search, and then it was time for me to leave.

PS: Here's what we'll be looking at on Saturday, the page for the letter B. There are 542 objects to find here. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...How-538-objects-beginning-B-spot-picture.html

You've been wanting snow, haven't you, Terry? Stay safe in it. Don't drive.

We had some flurries, sometimes quite heavy, though there's just a fresh dusting on the ground. But going and coming from tutoring, I saw accidents. It wasn't enough snow to cause them. What got into everyone today?

It's 50 degrees right now. This is going to be all RAIN! :( It's getting real dark early now. We should be getting it anytime.

The ground here is so water soaked that there are mudslides warnings out. There have been several already and now this big storm is going to make it even worse.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. I think you've had your quota of rain for the next 10 years. I guess I shouldn't say that. Next year, you might have a drought, even if it does sound like an impossibility now.
