Take a picture of the handprint! I wanna see! How exciting, though it sounds like your ghost isn't as civilized as our old lady was.

We have a weird handprint that shows up on the window of our shed in certain weather. It's spooky, but my theory is that when someone put in the window, they left their greasy handprint on the glass. I'll dig up the picture I took of it.

I have to wait a couple of months till I get a better camera.:) Mine can't take pictures in doors even if I shine a light. I guess thats what I get for getting a 20 dollar camera.

What a neat story! I wonder who he was. What about the history of the house? Any connection there? Did you ever try to figure out who he was, what it was all about?

There was no way to know the history because it was an old apartment, not a house. There had probably been countless tenants. I have no idea who he was. Since he was a glowing outline, it would be hard to recognize an individual, but he didn't look old. He looked more like a younger man. T'was weird.

    Hi Folks,

Sorry that you were sick on Saturday, Sandy; and I hope that you're feeling better now.

Interesting ghosty/spooky stories. I might work myself up to telling one or two.

I had a good start to the weekend. BF and I went morel hunting. They outran us this time. We'll have to hone our hunting skills a bit more and try our luck against the same quarry next weekend. While we were out, we replaced more of the "No Trespassing" signs that have been torn down and moved one of the TrailCams to a point of ingress commonly used by poachers on my property. Then we cut up some more of the overwhelmingly abundant treetops from last summer and gathered up firewood to take to my camp site. I built a fire and we roasted humongous hot dogs and enjoyed them with macaroni salad. That was followed by those crazy marshmallows that swell up to the size of softballs. It was warm weather and very comfortable to sit and talk in front of a campfire.

Everything was great until I stood up and felt the familiar anaconda stranglehold around my torso. This was my third time with the MS Hug and I knew (and dreaded) what needed to be done. Fortunately, my BF was with me to do it. After he managed to get me back up to the house, he gave me the first of several "treatments". It's a deep tissue massage. When I say "deep", I mean DEEP. He had his fingers buried in so far that it passed the big knuckles on his fingers. He works whatever hard knots he finds in the muscles until they release .... or move. Then he has to chase them to the new location. Not comfortable for either of us. Now I'm so bruised that I look as if I've been used as a soccer ball after several treatments continuing until Sunday night. I spent much of Sunday and all of yesterday flat on my back moving as little as possible. It seems to be far worse on standing. Today, I let myself get out of bed, and I seem to be fine now.

I know that an MS Hug sounds like a fluffy, benign thing, but it is anything but that. For anyone interested, here's a great article written by a gal who's experienced them frequently. She explains what they are very well without being too dry, and she's pretty funny too at times.

What is the MS Hug / Girdle Pain / Girdle Pain Sensation / Squeeze ‘O’ Death? - Diagnosis: Multiple Sclerosis

Pretty hard to "LIKE" this post. :( Glad you are feeling better now.

Here's our spooky handprint. It's still there. I should try to get a better shot of it. It's more visible at night.

Cue the Twilight Zone theme music. That's truly creepy, but I like your theory. In fact, I've heard it before on some show where they investigate hauntings. There was a similar hand print on glass that doesn't show up all of the time. What would really be creepy would be if you were to Windex the print away and it would still show up!

    I love these stories!

One July day a few years ago, my hubby and I were both doing some chores around the house. Hubby made several trips back and forth from the house to the pole barn, getting tools, putting things away, etc. One time he came in and said he was walking down the walkway from the patio to the barn and was hit with the overwhelming scent of flowers. He walked right out of the scent, then backed up and it hit him again. He shrugged and went on his way, telling me about it on his next stop inside. We were both puzzled because there were no flowers blooming that would have such a strong scent.

Later the same day, I was headed down the hall to our linen closet with a stack of clean towels. Halfway down the hall I found myself surrounded by the same huge floral scent. It was like the scent of spring bulbs, which I love, maybe hyacinths or something close to that. I stood still a minute and enjoyed it, wondering where the scent came from, the air was on, all the windows shut tight. I called for my son to come quick so he could smell it too, but it disappeared before he got there. He was laughing, sure Mom, flowers....yep.

That night, I was upstairs reading before going to sleep, hubby was at work, I could hear my son playing a video game in his room. I heard him go into the kitchen, and then he yelled "Mom! Get down here, I smell that smell!" I ran straight down there, but the scent was gone. My turn to laugh, he really hadn't believed that we smelled anything and it creeped him out, lol.

I have no idea what/who it was, but I figured it was just a nice little visit from someone that wanted us to know they were there.

Well, I washed the inside of the window, and I thought it was gone, but then it showed up again. It must be on the outside, which I didn't wash. I've noticed it shows up in certain weather -- humidity at a certain point? So it doesn't show up all the time.

Believe it or not, I let that window get really dirty because I was afraid of losing it. Then one day I just had to clean it so I could even look outside, so I held my breath and used Windex. Next time the weather was right, The Hand Was Back! I was really happy. I love spooky things like this, and I was mourning its loss. That's why I took a picture of it. I was afraid it'd go away.

In case you forgot, I'm the one who has the bones of a real human hand on a shelf in my living room. I guess there's a bit of goth in me, huh?

And they even brought flowers! Has it happened again? Any other signs of a visit? It sounds a lot like my lady. A benign presence. My theory is, if a ghost isn't doing you any harm, then it's sort of fun to have one. And I can never really be sure that the perfume was a ghost. It's just fun to think it was.

Never happened again, but occasionally I will smell moth balls, I just think it's my Grandma, she used them a lot. It's nice to think so anyway.

What?! 8-o thrunforhills.gif I have to think that Windex would've removed any grease remaining from a hand print. Interesting to think about.

Sandy, maybe its a print from the guy that owned the hand bones? lol

I'm baaaaaack !!!!! Ok, now I will tell you about the Flying Dog. Remember, this is not a Casper the friendly ghost story.

    The Flying Dog:

I was walking in the woods, with a friend and on the same trail and in the same area, where I had heard the ghost chickens. My friend's dog was with us. It was a German Shepherd mix and weighed about 100 pounds. It was an extremely friendly dog, never barked or growled and loved everyone and everything.

Suddenly, we saw a small bush start to violently shake, the bush was about 25 feet from where we were and near the back of the chicken coop. It caught our attention, as it was a calm summer day, with not so much as a breeze. As we stared at the bush, wondering what the heck was causing in to shake, the dog began growling and charged at the bush. The dog went behind the bush and a second later, it came back out....in the air and backwards. It was about 3 or 4 feet in the air, as if it had been thrown. Now remember, this wasn't a toy poodle, it was a good sized dog and it would have taken a large and very strong person, to throw a dog of it's size. Plus, the bush wasn't large enough for a human being to hide behind. Back to the story....it did a couple of somersaults in the air, landed on the ground and took off running for home. We were right behind it. After what we had just witnessed, we weren't going to stick around there.

When we got back to my friends house, we found the dog cowering in a corner and shaking like a leaf. It stayed that way for several hours.
