Good morning, Voltmaniacs.

Evie, keep your chin up. Remember that it is easy to feel depressed or down when you are fighting a physical problem like you have been. That is a temporary situation and your mood will improve!

Just curious, have you tried just leaving the dishes and going to watch a movie? The dishes will still be there when you are done with the movie:)

Some days I think I wouldn't get married again but most days it is nice to have someone to share my life with. Still, if something happened to Hubby, I probably wouldn't get married again. However, lets hope nothing does happen to Hubby since I would be lost without him:)

It took me fifteen years after I was divorced to find my Hubby. He has a good heart. He works hard. He takes care of stuff. Even though some aspects of living with someone else are difficult, I enjoy being part of a team.

Wow, did I sleep late. I better drink this coffee and get moving. I have the system set up but I had to wait for the 1/2 inch tubing to arrive. It finally got here about 8:30 last night so now I can get the rest of the system done.

Exactly. .....

Well, I got my code reader. It came from Shenzhen, but they wanted my physical address, not my PO box. But it was e-packet USPS.

I read the manual, which was mostly a listing of the codes. Took it down to my mechanic. He saw the grin on my face, and was happy. Told me to just call him once I discover what code(s) are showing, and he will tell me whether to bring her in, wait for a tow, or clear it and don't worry.

There is a state park just down the road from me that has a pond for swimming. It looks somewhat like what the article describes, but I don't think it has a pump system for drawing the water over to the planted area for purification. Sand is very cheap around here. LOL! It is much less expensive than a pool.

Lets see what Lizzie's response is.

Sitting down, facing forward.
We talked about the "do-it-yourself pool" over dinner. I did take a look at the first couple of pages of the article and have deduced the following -

1 - With the recommended slope of 1 in 3, for an eight foot deep pool, that would require 24 feet of width going down and another 24 feet coming back up. That discounts having some width at the 8 foot depth and the additional depth needed for lining with non-permeable clay and a layer of sand, say another two feet total. So for an 8 foot deep pool, plan on digging a total of about 60 feet wide and 10 feet deep.

2 - That 60 foot dimension would need to be extended to the length of the pool as well, making a 60 foot square, plus some width for the "deep section" and 10 feet deep. That's a heck of a lot of shovels full of dirt.

3 - The article seems to talk about a pool about an acre in size, even more shovels full and more dirt!

4 - I have to wonder just how big a pump would be needed to circulate, effectively, that much water and what that might do to the electric bill.

5 - You might want to add fish to help keep the plants in balance, the plants act as the primary filter. If you add fish you need to add some bottom feeders as well to clean up after the other fish.

6 - To effectively use the deep section for diving a wharf, of sorts, would be needed for a diving board.

7 - I think I'll go to the beach instead.

(ain't I a curmudgeon?)

Good morning Folks. Wow what a lot of back reading. Had to just scan. Hope y'all have a bodacious Friday.

Whoa, Cindy---- Do I have a hot article for you!!

How to Build a Natural Swimming Pool - DIY - MOTHER EARTH NEWS

Now, Lizzie, settle down. :p

I bookmarked this for further reading. Looks interesting to me. We had a water garden that took a liner and really enjoyed it. Went to the river and picked up some water lettuce and a few plants that helped a lot. One that size would be really kewl. Swimming in lakes in Florida can be dangerous in the summer even though I've done it all my life. We get an amoeba that gets in through ears and nose and is 100% deadly. Amoeba encephalitis it's called. I also had to evict the occasional cottonmouth moccasin and one small gator that was after my pet bass named "Bubba". I've got plenty of room for something like this and miss the small one.

Rave, welcome to the world of smart phone. I've had one for quite some time and use most of the features. There's no phone service where I work but there is satellite internet which allows me to stay in touch through email and texting. The weather at my fingertips is invaluable and numerous other handy apps. I also use the web to look up things (Google is my friend) and check tracking numbers so I know whether or not to stop by the P.O. on my way home.

Good morning, Voltpeeps.

Glad to see you up and about, Evie:)

I don't like swimming so a swimming pond wouldn't interest me but when you start using pond pumps, the electricity adds up. I bet we are spending $20 per month to have our water feature running. We were turning the pump off at night until I got my mosquito fish.

Of course, I do think it is worth the money since the dogs always have plenty of drinking water and the birds just adore having water. I have my cattails and they are alive. I hope we never find a snake bathing in there:)

With a little ingenuity, you can use the wind for pond aeration. Of course, that only works when the wind is blowing.

I'm not nearly tough enough for a pond with deadly amoeba, alligators of any size and cottonmouths snakes. Heck, I wouldn't even want to swim with a garter snake. I'm horrified, Wuzz.

How's Penny, SandySu?

I so way over did it this week. I had to take aspirin with dinner. I woke up in the middle of the night and had to take 2 ibuprofen I was so sore. I have a house to clean today so wish me luck.

The whole changing the drip system looks like it has paid off. The new full flow timer worked perfectly last night. Since the mainline tubing is getting a bit worn and old, now was a good time to change it up.

I need one more timer so that the other zone on that faucet can water itself too. I also think I will get more timers for the near the house zones. That way they will water themselves even when I am gone in the day time. That will leave me two zones to water by turning on the valves but I am not made of money so I will have to wait to buy two more timers for those two zones.

Yes, Lizzie. It would be a good idea to get a windmill to generate the electricity to run the pumps. Still increasing the expense for the initial project. What a beautiful daydream, anyway.

I think a pond is a great idea, Zero. It isn't that hard to do a pond although a swimming pond would need to be a certain depth and such. They have those pond liners that are reasonably tough and fairly easy to install. Not that it wouldn't take some doing and some people to help set it up.Keep reading up on the topic and you may find yourself making a pond:)

The windmill can be used for aeration without actually pumping water up to a spill way. It just pumps air down to the bottom of the pond.
