Good morning, Voltmaniacs.
It's nice that Squeezles is doing so well.
It rained and rained yesterday. It was so amazing. It was cloudy for quite awhile in the morning. Of course, I enjoyed that as it was cooler and the sun was not baking us when we were outside. Hubby and I got our new hammock put together. I saw it at the grocery store for half price and it looked pretty sturdy. Also, it folds up so I think I can store it in the wooden shed for the winter.
I pulled a few weeds for the goats. The sun came out and I decide I was done. I closed the windows. I closed the shutters on the house. I turned on the AC and the outside temp rapidly went up to 93 degrees. About 2pm, Hubby came back in the house. Too windy and there's lightning so he was quitting his work on the truck.
We were in a down draft. The trees in the backyard were getting smashed by the wind. A little bit of lightning and then it started raining. And it kept on raining pretty hard for hours. I caught a break and ran out to open the shutter on the den window so we could watch the weather and the hummingbird feeder.
The hummers were a flurry of activity due to the rain. They all wanted to drink from the feeders. At least 4 hummers were out front, each one trying to keep the feeder to itself. Lots of "
thrip,
thrip" noises as they were shouting at one another.
I looked out the sliding doors to the back sugar water feeder. There was a tornado of hummers, circling one another and the feeder. Just amazing. At least five hummers back there all vying for ownership of the feeder. In fact, there is at least ten hummers at the back feeder this morning. Incredible!!!!
The wind slowed down about five pm but the rain just kept falling. I finally went out and fed the horses and the goats in the rain. Fortunately, the new feeders are up so I was able to throw hay fast into the stall feeders. The goats were not coming out into the rain to eat but I threw them some alfalfa anyway.
The rain finally stopped for a bit but then started again. And kept up for several more hours. I don't have any idea how much rain actually fell but the storm was incredible.
This morning, the air is cool and lovely as the sun paints the underside of the clouds orange and then turns to gold. It is supposed to be cooler today, perhaps the high eighties. I have to clean a house for a couple of hours and then head into town for some shopping.
