Tabac is nice and masculin (well, with a few flowers in it). I rarely cut my self now.

Now maybe you can plant winter plants like broccoli and the ones that look like broccoli, maybe lettuce and beets?

To bad i am not there, i could make it for you using my special rototiller face, which i am doing whenever i have a rototiller. :D :D

You look a bit like a rototilling maniac. Maybe you enjoy rototilling a little too much.

Today i was handling some pallet wood and i got a splinter which was an inch or more in length!!! Was lucky and it got only under the skin but i was pulling hard and couldn't get it out! I'm sure if i took a picture i could freak the whole internet lol but i didn't think of it.
Then i cutted the upper side of the skin with the knife through the whole length and it came out, it was like having a small canal in my hand lol.
Had some hansaplast spray dandage with me which kinda fixed the gap problem ahahaha! Glued everything together.
It also dissinfects the area but it stings so much it would be probably better to leave the splinter on...

I hope your wound feels better and there's no infection. Next time, wear tough gloves and save yourself the pain.

I think you did the right thing cutting open the top. Once my daughter got a big splinter in her foot, and I couldn't get it out. I took her to the emergency ward of the local hospital, and they did basically the same thing, except they used a scalpel.

Speaking of injuries, this evening, when I came into the house and removed my shoes and put on my slippers, a yellow jacket was hiding in my left slipper, and it stung my little toe, right through my sock. Ouch! I couldn't get that slipper off fast enough! Sigh! I guess in the future I should shake out my shoes before I put them on. The yellow jackets seem really bad all of a sudden, though there was nothing special going in in the warmer weather.

Oh Sandy, sorry you got stung! We have been seeing a lot of yellow jackets lately too. It seems to me they know it's time to find someplace to hide to try to avoid the cold weather. I hope it heals up quickly, fingers and toes are SO uncomfortable when they swell!

I find what works to keep the swelling down is to take a Benadryl pill right away. So far, so good. Let's see if I can get into my shoes tomorrow.

A few weeks ago, my brother and I were contemplating bee stings to reduce the inflammation of arthritis. They say it really helps. However, you have to be in quite a bit of pain to consider it. LOL.

I had a small boil lanced and drained on Thursday. It was very painful. I am on an antibiotic, but it is still draining a bit. I apologized to the Dr. for bringing such a gross problem to him, but he said it is a satisfying experience, because it is a problem that can usually be resolved in the office in one visit.

So you're not really getting rid of the arthritis pain, you're just distracting it.

Here's a good-night song that I think really fits the evening.

When I was a child, near our house was a railroad station and freight yard. I loved the trains! I'd often hear the screeching of their wheels on the tracks as they aligned the freight cars for the next trip out. Many of the cars were marked Phoebe Snow, and I later learned that it was a slogan of the railroad for a clean trip, when the coal dust used to powder everyone's clothes. Their signature girl was dressed in white, riding the train. See http://www.railroad-line.com/forum/topic.asp?ARCHIVE=true&TOPIC_ID=8649& for instance. So I guess that's how the singer got her name. I looked it up. Yes, just like me, she liked the Phoebe Snow freight cars. According to her obituary -- 'Poetry Man' singer Phoebe Snow dies at 60 - USATODAY.com -- "She changed her name after seeing Phoebe Snow, an advertising character for a railroad, emblazoned on trains that passed through her hometown."

Food morning, Voltnics.

How's your foot, SandySu?

I got stung one year on my hand rooting through leaf duff. That'll teach me to do yardwork without gloves on!

Hubby went in to work late. I have bread working in a bowl and I cleaned the kitchen and did a quick clean on the bathroom. Time to go clean the horse pens. I have a secret bag of chips and a soda with my name on it for the lunch hour. Yes, I sometimes hide the chips:) I'll probably have a healthy bowl of chili as well!

The vet is coming today to give the horses shots and look them over a bit.

I see you've been here, RAven. How are the kids doing?

Q, how old are the twins now?

Zero, working on your book at all?

I'm slogging through a Philippa Carr book series and wondering why I am bothering. The Other Bolyn Girl was a great book but the other four I have read, not so much. Good thing I am reading them for free with the Amazon Unlimited book program.

Raven, I was thinking what amazing progress the kids are making on their house!

Yer right - They are making great progress. Still ... NOT fast enough!! This weekend while I was gone, they got the two cement pillars poured for the bump out. They did this while my son's future father-in-law was visiting. And, they broke the cement mixer. My BF thinks that it might just be a shear pin, so it won't be too much trouble to fix. On the way up the hill from the home site, my son's fiance and her father were riding in the trailer. Apparently the trailer wasn't attached properly and disconnected from the truck. The two of 'em went rolling back down the hill until they struck a tree. Fiance sustained a nice long cut on her back that looks like it was rather deep. Future father-in-law was fine.

Good night, everyone. Another fall photo from my walk on Friday.

 Ohhh - pretty!! Snagged it for a puzzle. :D

Since the school kids were out on fall break all of last week and my BF works for the school system, I got some extra time with him. That's why I've been absent. He doesn't have Wi-Fi coming to his house. Instead, he uses his personal phone as a hotspot. He didn't have his phone on much, so I wasn't able to get on the net. But, we got in a lot of time working on his house. He's been a bachelor for over five years since his wife passed away, and, well, his house needs some deep cleaning and major organization. His living room is now cleaner than mine and is very much a cool-lookin' man cave. His kitchen up to where the dining room area begins is now spotless. His cupboards are cleaned and reorganized and expired foods have been pitched. You can even see out of his window over the sink now. The view is a '68 Mustang guarded by weeds. That's the one waiting to be an "organ donor" for the nice '68 Mustang that I have been assured is someplace in the garage. Anyhow, we got a heckuva lot done on his house and that feels wonderful. Considering all of the stuff that he does for me, it feels great to do something for him.

Today, I've got a bucket full of irises that I'm going to put in the ground. If I have time, I'll plant some bulbs as well. It's chilly out there and I only have one fully-functioning hand, so I'm not really looking forward to it. My left hand is still in a brace. Sure am glad I'm right-handed.

Tritium - as far as Protank heads are concerned: Go for it! It's easy squeezee. And they taste so much better with rayon. I rebuilt roughly a zillion of 'em.

Nice shed, Lizzie! I'm so glad that you were able to take a break and go fishing in such a beautiful locale.

Thanks for all of the gorgeous photos, Sandy. I'm with BWhare about the hanger on the maple tree. I gave permission to a local to run sap lines on the other side of my creek since I'm rarely over there. That looks like a hanger for the lines that he has run over there.

Awsum - I appreciate the reminder that I need to drain and roll up my garden hose and bring it in before the first freeze. Maybe I'll do that today too while I'm out there.

Oh - Here are three views from my back deck.

Have I mentioned that I love this place? ;)

Good morning, Lizzie. As busy as usual, I see.

My foot is fine. It was just a sting. Now it itches.

Here's a song I heard on the radio yesterday that I hadn't thought of in a while, but suddenly, yesterday, I really listened, and the guitar is pretty good. The words are also funny in a satirical way.

Hmmm .... I notice that his Maserati goes much faster than it used to.

Glad your sting is better now. Note to self: Wear gardening gloves while planting irises today ...

I'm glad to see you back Rave, it's just not the same here without you! But, it is also nice to know that you are out doing things that make you happy. I hope your FDIL will be okay, flesh wound or not, ouch! This will be one of those, "remember when we were building the house....." stories. They are collecting quite a few, aren't they?

Everyone seems to be getting their share of boo-boos, including me. I was trying to tighten up a roll of out of control wire and the end raked across the end of my index finger on my left hand. I didn't realize it cut me until I saw all the blood. It is fine now, plus, what's a little blood on the work bench, the walkway and the door knobs? :)

Pretty neat that you worked on the Game of Thrones books Sandy. I think I read the first book years ago and forgot all about them until the show came out on HBO. We don't have HBO, but it made me curious about it all so I read the rest of the books. There are rumors of another in the series, but George Martin is taking forever with it. I watched a few of the tv episodes online at cokeandpopcorn.com, but I really felt guilty about watching for free, so I quit. TV is never as good as the book anyhow, imo.

Lizzie, again, you amaze me with all you get done, and with a smile on your face! I'm glad you are treating yourself, you surely deserve some secret snacking, lol. My oldest grandson is turning 4 is a few days and the twins are 18 months old. They have planned a party at a kid's bouncy house place, this should be a big hit with all of them.

Hi to all the rest of the Volties, have a great day everyone!

Hi guys,

The vet thought the horses look fine. She is really nice and she wanted a tour of the property and the plants. You know I love that!

I gave her some potatoes to take home with her.

A bouncy house party will surely be a hit with the kids! Q

Sorry to hear about your finger but glad you are okay.

Raven, wow, poor gal, I hope your future DIL is going to be okay.

Game of Thrones. Is a good enough series to bother reading? What do you think, SandySu and Q? I have no idea what the TV or movie is about. Yeah, I don't manage to keep up with much. I do watch Project Runway every week. The big finale is this Thursday and I am on pins and needles:)

Evie - glad the health issues are working out at your house.
