Yes, let's do have a party. Maybe we should do a housewarming party since she won't be able to use the internet for a week or two while she is moving.

Terry, I am so freaking glad you finally are moving!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm grinning from ear to ear. You must let us know how you are going on the move whenever you are able to.

Terry, I'm not big into emoticons, but I'm doing a Happy Dance for you! Congratulations!

Tritium, many people have reported their liquids taste sweeter with rayon wicks. It seems to be a result of larger droplets and no taste/flavor being added by the wick that would mute the original flavor. I know I am able to taste the components of both of my DIY flavors much more "clearly" with rayon. That same effect, droplet sizes, can also increase nicotine "hit". At least the assumption is that is an increase in droplet size, no one has actually done a study to determine what does it.

Good luck with the nor'easter, Awsum and I hope that it doesn't hit you, Sandy. Oh jeesh, Uncle. I wonder if your flight will be canceled. Safe travels to you!

Sounds like a good checkup for the horsies, Lizzie.

Awsum and Tritium - I'm getting fuller, sweeter, cleaner flavor with the rayon too. :p

I have to keep this short because I still have some last minute packing to do and I'll be disconnecting my modem soon so won't be able to post much on the road but I will let you all know when I get to Rave's. I'm so freaking glad this is finally over.

Thank you all for the previous condolences. It's happy news from here on out. :toast:

Ohhh, ye of little faith.

Congratulations, my friend. Now try to keep those positive thoughts goin' as you trek across the country. It'll make the trip easier for both of you. Just sayin'. Keep me as informed as you can about your progress. I've got the guest room ready for ya. One of the posts out at the parking area for the van is sagging a wee bit. I'll straighten that up if I can remember. CRS. There's enough room there to park a semi. You might wanna give me a call when you arrive so I can drive out there to pick you and yours up. Or will you just drive the Explorer in?

I'm so EXCITED!!

I can't believe it! I was stung tonight putting on my slippers. Same left slipper, where the yellow jacket was hiding. I turned my slippers upside down and shook them, too, before putting them on. Now I have to figure a better way to keep these pests out of my slippers. I guess they find the fuzzy interior pleasant to hide in. I've thought of a few strategies. 1. Turn the slippers upside down. 2. Put them in a plastic bag. 3. Relocate them so the wasps don't find them. Any other suggestions? The slippers are by the door, and when I get home, I slip out of my shoes and into my slippers. I guess the wasps are coming in the door, though I haven't noticed that. But I do find them in that area more than in other areas.

We thought they might be coming in via the air conditioner in the bedroom, so we took that out of the window this morning. We won't need it till late spring, anyway, so it was time to remove it. I really don't know how they are getting into the house in such numbers. This is driving me crazy. The first sting seemed much worse, and my foot has become red and itchy. I hope the 2nd sting, which didn't seem as bad, won't complicate matters.

Sitting down, facing forward.
Sandy, look around for ways they may be getting in besides the door, or maybe they have a nest inside a nearby wall. That would be a real bummer!

The 'noreaster is here in force. The security camera will probably be recording all night. What's a few gigabytes to delete in the morning? Oh well. The shore is really getting hammered though, some areas had 5" of rain this morning and it's still going strong over there.

Sandy, who knows how they are getting into your house. Maybe they are hiding in the doorway and sneak in when someone opens the door? But, I think you might want to wash your slippers. When the first one stung you, it probably released a pheromone that the second one was attracted to. I think anytime they sting the scent is released as a warning or a beacon to others.

I'm not sure my slippers would survive washing. What about foot deodorizer? I might spray some of that inside.

Good luck getting through it, Awsum. I'm amazed that you still have internet!

You might try putting a dryer sheet in each slipper. I've read that Bounce works but any old dryer sheet should be a deterrent if it works at all.
Yup - I concur. I stuff dryer sheets all along the eaves and around the outdoor light fixtures to prevent wasps from building there. Something about it offends the wasps and they leave. Works like a charm and for a long time.

Campi!! So good to see you! :) Nice of you to pop in to congratulate Terry. She doesn't have internet tonight and probably won't until tomorrow night at some time. So, don't think that she's ignoring your sweet post. 'Kay?

I read that it specifically had to be Bounce brand. I guess critters have expensive taste - they just laugh at generic.

Good night, all. I'll try Bounce dryer sheets. I'll have to wait till I go shopping next, though, since I don't use dryer sheets. Meanwhile, I'll deodorize my slippers with foot spray and see if that works. I hate to think of another sting if that doesn't work, so I may try some other tactics, too. I'd rather not know exactly what worked if I don't get stung again. My poor left pinkie toe can't stand another one.

Meanwhile, I'll call the landlord. I think they may have a nest in my porch roof. The joy of renting: Let him eradicate the yellow jackets!

Here's another good-night photo from last Friday: one of our area's fall bounty.
