    Hello My Dear Voltvillians,

Sorry I have been away so long, I am waiting for payday so i can order a new power supply. Thank you for the offer Awsum (I hope I remember correctly. If it wasn't you, then whoever made that offer, Thank you! ) I prefer to buy new when it comes to things of that nature, I think I am slightly OCD when it comes to my electronics.

I didn't like on the last few pages because I am on my fiance's seriously outdated craptop and also have slow internet speeds on it (something to do with old processor speed techno stuff ... I don't know but my pc gets faster internet ) Fell down the porch steps a few days ago... Really slowly. My pants got caught on a nail that was protruding from the top step and, well, I hopped to the bottom step one legged and kind of fell slowly forward. Wasn't hurt so much as peeved and embarrassed. I pulled the muscles from the bend of where my shin meets my right foot to my knee, somehow pulled the muscles under (around?) my ribs, and bruised my left shin. But I am better now, no aches or pains. :D

It has been too dang cold, Seriously!!!!

Sweet Evie - This is a painful time for you, I am sure. It is so difficult to lose someone you love and who cared for you.

    Good morning, Voltpeeps,

It is warmer this morning at 24 degrees. The wood stove is toasting the house up to a reasonable degree of warmth. We are supposed to have rain showers this afternoon. I am hopeful since trying to water when it is freezing over night is very difficult.

I don't have a lot on my list today. That makes me very happy. I'm putzing around the yard to do some clean up but my hedge trimmer isn't running right and Hubby has to fix it. I hand pruned some of the hedge around the veggie garden but hand pruning is too much work so until he gets it fixed, I am not getting much done on that level.

I got some anti barking collars on Amazon. Our three outside dogs have gone ridiculous on the barking. I hope this cures the problem. I don't want to listen to them barking all night long and I am sure the neighbors don't appreciate it either.

The collar gives them a warning tone, then a louder warning tone and then a mild shock. The shock level goes up if they bark again within 30 seconds. It resets itself to begin over again if they don't bark for 30 seconds. I hate to resort to the collars but screaming out the window is so unpleasant that I have decided to give this a try. Hubby and I need our sleep!

We will put it on them at night before we go to sleep and take it off them in the morning.

Dang...your pics turned out way better than mine or were those the pics I took with your camera? LOL!

Yeah time was short but it was fun. Although you made me spend WAY too much money.

I got a different humidifier and some insulated curtins for my slider. So far so good with both. :)

Nope - sorry, my friend. Those photos were the ones I took. It's amazing to me as well considering that we were shooting through double paned glass. That last one was a bear because of the odd angle. It's still fuzzy, but better than nothing.

I made you spend money?!?!? You didn't need my help. You were doing well alllll by yourself! I might have enabled you ... just a little.

Glad you were able to find a good humidifier and curtains. :D

Don't you appreciate the beauty before you have to go drive in it? It helps if you are retired and don't have to go out unless absolutely necessary.

There's the key right there. It stinks when you have to drive in that mess to go to work. If it's our choice to go out, then it's a lot more pleasurable.

Not really, Sandy, because I enjoy walking in the woods, in the colder weather or on the sidewalk after dark. That white sh......er.....stuff, messes it all up, for me. I like walking, not trudging through the snow. The sidewalk isn't much better, than the woods, even if they clear the sidewalk, which they don't always do, I have to deal with the ice that's left behind.

I'm sorry that it isn't fun for you when it snows. :( Personally, I love walking in it even if I have to trudge. It's worth it to me because I enjoy following the animal tracks and seeing who all is out there walking around my domain. The best tracks are from the turkeys. They look almost like a tread from some sort of machine. I have some good ice cleats that the young folks gave me and I even have a head that I can put on my cane with a steel spike to stabilize me that way. Nothing finer than walking through a snow-clad forest and enjoying the crisp, silent wonder of it all. But, that's just me ...

 Oh no, Celti! I'm sorry about your fall. And about your computer. :(

Mornin' Lizzie. That's a bummer that the dogs are raising such a ruckus at night. That would drive me nuts too. Sounds like a good system, and I really hope that it works out for you.

    Hope you get your rain!!

Lizzie, why do you think the dogs are barking? Are they lonely and calling for you? Is an animal lurking that they are barking at? When did the barking start? If it was since the weather got cold, maybe they are too cold outside and are asking to come in the house. Can you make it warmer for them?

I think it is because there are now three dogs instead of one dog. One barks, the others bark. There are critters outside the fence like coyotes, rabbits and a gray cat. Sometimes people walk by at night.

I don't think they are lonely since they have each other and they play at night.

We have one group dog house and three individual doghouses so they should be warm enough at night. We have straw in all of them. They seem to sleep in the group doghouse together a lot.

They can't stay inside the house all night. They aren't trained for being inside dogs. Plus, I don't really want my outside dogs to be my inside dogs.

They do get to come in for awhile every evening. We like them but we have to keep an eye on them for bad behavior. Sassy likes to pull paper out of the trash in the bathroom and office. Also, she has been known to take bread off the counter. Probably nothing is safe on the counter if we aren't watching her. We put them outside for the night.

They have probably been barking at night for awhile but I thought it was the neighbor dogs. Which sometimes it is the neighbor dogs. Hubby hollered out the window one night and I said "Is that our dogs?" because from my angle it sounded far away. He was sure it was our dogs barking along the east fence. So, they have been barking more than I thought they were.

Oh yeah, Twinkieman is stopping by at night, I think. There is an old goober on a bicycle and the dogs love him. He's been giving them treats. I told Hubby the guy is probably feeding them HoHos, DingDongs and Twinkies. After all, what else can you buy a the little store up on 95A? I think he's been stopping by later at night because the dogs were going nuts. I woke up and hollered out the window. "What the heck is going on out there?" They quieted down some and then I heard someone say "Rusty." So, it was a person and it was someone who knows their names.

Celt, the thing about electronics is that once something goes through an initial use period, of say a few weeks, and doesn't fail it will usually last for a long time. That is true of power supplies. I gave up on cheapies and now only use 650 watt and larger in my desktop stuff. I usually watch Tiger Direct for sales and coupons when I buy them.

Lizzie, maybe letting the dogs barks isn't such a bad thing if you have night time visitors, both human and otherwise. It does tend to make them all very cautious. Bo usually stays pretty quiet, but people walking down the street, when he sees them, get him going as do low frequency sounds like a large truck going by. Usually, every day after his dinner he goes to the front door and barks, then the sliding door and barks. If he's really happy with dinner he does the master bedroom and the office as well. I think he's "working" for his food by scaring off the bad guys. Neighbors three doors away can hear him, and that's with the doors and windows closed.

    Miss ya celtic. :)

Loved your post evie. I hope you are doing ok.

I slacked off working for 3 days so today i cleaned the gutters in the back of the house where it was the worst & the highest. A little higher than my comfort level was comfortable with but I got it done. The front can wait for a warmer day.

Insulated curtins worked great last night and it was cold out there. The humidifier worked great also but I didn't have a fire going. This morning with the fire burning the humidity dropped. Crap! It's still higher than it was before though. :)

I'm pooped and taking the rest of the day off but the firewood I got yesterday is yelling at me to stack it. :(

Terry, if you have a leaf blower, preferably a gas one, you can pick up some plastic tubing (plumbing pipe) and fittings at Home Despot or Lowes and extend the nozzle so that you can stand on the ground and blow the gutters clean. There are rubber couplings that will let you switch the sizes fairly easily to adapt the plumbing tubing to the blower outlet. I do that from the roof and it's quick and easy enough to do as often as needed. Plus, if you direct the air down the downspout that gets cleaned very nicely as well.

I don't have a leaf blower but one may be in my future. I like that idea. That wouldn't have worked today though because the leaves were frozen in ice which I had to chisel out. Worked pretty good though. Once I got the ice out, the leaves came with it. [emoji3]

Some areas south of Buffalo have gotten as much as eight feet already and are expecting another few feet over night tonight. It's being cause by a stalled front and "training" with the cold air being blown over Lake Erie. The time lapse of radar plainly shows it develop over the lake and move over land. There's a time lapse video, from Buffalo, where the snow just blows in off the lake, looking like a white sandstorm.

Their normal snowfall is about ten feet a year. but they'll be at or over that by the time this thing is over. It is very localized, a few miles north or south of the effected areas and there is hardly enough to cover the ground. It seems to be in a band about twenty miles wide extending about fifteen or twenty miles inland from the lake.

I snapped a quick pic out one of the kitchen windows, a bad pic from my dumb phone, but you can see we are getting a little bit of snow here. It has been doing this on and off all day. It's blowing right across the state, the western side is getting the lake effect, we just get the leftovers. Ok, we saw it, let's get back to fall, lol.
