I thought the holes were actually in the duct work which is why I mentioned sheet metal. Whatever you use, make sure it can "breath" so there's no moisture problems. Tyvek might be a really good thing to consider rather than a tarp.

It's 2 degrees here, again, this morning, but it's supposed to get cold later today and tonight.

I got my label printer today!! I am happy Sold a lot of stuff on ebay to get this, waiting since December.

Oh, sorry about that. No the holes are in the plastic that covers the whole ceiling of the crawl space and plastic on the ground.

Why does it have to breath? The plastic that is there looks like regular ol plastic.

Northwest Colorado...1985...

Oh wow! I didn't think it got that cold there. I lived in Montrose CO for 5 yrs and it only hit zero twice.

I got 4" of snow yesterday and another 3+" today. I got my blanket of white yesterday, now this can go away. Suppose to get down to -6 tonight and -5 tomorrow night. This cold can go away too. Dang furnace is coming on every 10 minutes in the morning and evening. I see $$$ every time it comes on. But at least I have a furnace. I'm betting my electric bill is going to be higher than my mortgage payment. And the weekend is looking too nasty for Rave & BF to come here to help me.

Ok, now the good news. I'm staying fairly warm with my arctic outerwear on indoors.

I wore out the trackball that I bought for this laptop, Now the left button double clicks half the time, which can be anything from disconcerting to disastrous.

Terry, layers are your friends. Unfortunately it can get bulky and restrictive after a while.

We're supposed to get very cold tonight and on through Saturday with snow/rain/snow on Sunday. It did get up to almost 40 this afternoon, but it's starting to drop, quickly, as the sun goes down.

The high tomorrow is supposed to be 0°, the low, -17°, I sure hope there's no extra wind chill added to that. It should be warming up on Saturday, might even go above freezing, YAY!

Terry, layers are your friends. Unfortunately it can get bulky and restrictive after a while.

First, get a USB cordless mouse. Logitech makes a universal USB dongle now that will work with any Logitech mouse.

Second, when you said layers are your friend, I scrolled back through the posts to see when chickens became part of the conversation. I was wondering how to get them bulky...

Thus far, I've managed to keep winter and my .... separated. Easy solution: dont go outside nekkid, and dont fall down. My hands, feet, and nose... well... that's a different story. Brrr...

Actually - her heat is going up the chimney and the air from the crawlspace is being drawn up into the house through all of those openings below the house. It a vicious cycle. She's hemorrhaging heat.

Yep - I've been busy working on the riser for my bedroom end table that I showed a Sketchup rendering of yesterday. Today, I finally got all of the components doweled together. I'm gonna let some carpenter's glue dry before I sand it tomorrow. Then, I get to do my favorite part which is staining. A day or two after that to cure, and I'll polyurethane. It ain't much to look at prior to sanding, and I just noticed that the top monitor holder needs to be pushed down on its dowels but this is it so far:



The wiring for the two surveillance monitors will be routed internally through mouseholes and then out a mousehole in the back of the unit along with my clock wiring and the wire for the USB hub which will be in that flat box next to the tissues. The lid is easily removable. The only visible wires will be a couple of connections for charging my Leos. They'll come out the front mousehole of that box. I used a brass drip tip for the doorknob on the little cubby hole door. That corner is all storage.

I also noticed that I managed to get my humongously-fat folder(s) of legal stuff associated with my land in the photo behind the unit. That's all Deeds, plats, surveyor's drawings and maps. It makes my head spin trying to understand all of that stuff and the sheer quantity of it is overwhelming. See why I've been goin' crazy?

Like I said before...the riser looks great and now I see what you mean by a "mousehole". I didn't see that one in front before.

Transmission was working very poorly on my car today. Had been a bit wonky. My rpm's were going up high, and I wasn't going that fast, so pulled in to my mechanic's place on the way home. He was working on an impossible piece of toast, so set it aside and promised me a transmission fluid change and filter change, but warned me it might not resolve the problem, which would have been a disaster given my financial situation. He took me home, and I read, and vaped some high nic. Got the call, and....................




he said it was working fine. There was a bunch of garbage in it, but the fluid was a fine color. No signs of off-color, which would have indicated that the transmission was in danger. WHAT A RELIEF!!

Last year he shut down in weather like this, but he got a heating system installed in his garage, so was not relying only on his other job for income in deep winter.

Terry, it is tough when you buy a property in your price range. Working out the problems can be a bit of a discouragement, but once you do.........

Rave, that is a very nice storage unit.

Shawn, the trackball is a wireless. Worst case I'll just grab the mouse off my desktop, also wireless. I like the trackball way better than a touchpad. In fact I'm cutting a piece of heavy cardboard to cover the darn thing, it's a PITA!

Thanks Awsum. I dunno. All of the woodwork (beams, mantle, cabinets, and homemade furniture) in this house we've done with MinWax stain (Provencial) with a polyurethane coating or two. I love how it's worked out so far, so I think I'll stick with a sure thing.
