The wind is doing up to 50mph here this morning. The weather peeps are threatening 26 degrees overnight for the next two nights. The weather is getting ugly. This is our April storm system that moves through here just about every year.
It actually snowed just a bit early today. Not enough to stick just a few tiny, fast moving flakes.
Hope everyone's springtime is well on its way.

Our Spring has backed off a bit as well, not as much as yours though, Lizzie. It's in the upper 50's today with a little rain this morning, just enough to get everything nicely watered.
I'm glad I only went to Home Despot for a "few odds and ends". If it was ore I'd have needed to leave my right arm and first born at the checkout. As usual, they were out of a few things I wanted, like 1/2" sheetrock. That's kind of like a bakery running out of flour. Oh well, it was bad enough as it was and I'll get the sheetrock at Lowes when I pick up the framing lumber I need. Lowes lumber is more expensive but much higher quality.
I did get the fence fixed and Bo kept guard while I worked on weeding flower beds, scared the bejeezus out a a jogger, LOL.

Here it is cleaned up and mostly done. Definitely needs another load of larger rocks from the desert. Maybe two loadsIt now blends in with the river rocks look on the other side.

It's sorta chilly and blah here today, but I went for a long walk anyhow. No morels yet. It was mostly a lazy weekend for me. We did go down to camp and watched the kids move detritus from the tree felling that occurred a year and a half ago. The young folks are trying to "clean up" the forest for their wedding. They were wanting to actually have the ceremony in the creek, but with the level that the water has been maintaining, I don't see that happening. So, they'll do it up at camp instead. But, it needs some sprucing up. They took out a dead, hollow maple that was threatening the camping area that I'd spotted when I camped there a couple of weeks ago. And they used the truck and a chain to pull out our good ole Perma Potty. Remember the one that you could see from Google satellite?
It had become too rusted to be trusted. Sooo ... we had a "potty pull". Wish I'd had my camera.
I also cleared out the spring and siphoned out the hose that delivers cold and cold running water. Best tasting water in the world. And, and a great place to wash your hands after a potty pull. We also swapped SD cards and changed batteries in the Trail Cams. No exciting pictures at all. Just a bunch of deer that are so close to the camera that they appear ghostly white.
I'm gonna miss it.
But, after this whole wedding business is over and done with, I can put in a new one using a heavy plastic barrel so it won't get all rusty and disreputable. Voltville has been awfully quiet!! Everyone doing their taxes at the last minute or sumthin'?
I've been pretty busy working on various and sundry projects, raking, weeding, building a wall and door for the Bilco door in the basement, working on the solar water heater a little, DIYing, making a couple of mods, cooking, cleaning, laundry, walking Bo and grabbing a minute to sit once in a while.
I am trying to build the "ultimate" cig-a-like based off a Volt 78mm. I am trying to use the air flow switch and atomizer connector with a remote, 18650, battery. I figure it'll be good for a day and a half or more IF I can make it work. The big trick is cutting the battery tube without breaking any wires or, alternately, salvaging the 808 connector and pressing it back into a section of tube.

I planted these at my former home in Illinois, and missed them terribly after moving here. They are Tulipa Tarda - If I remember right, this is a tulip native to Turkey. The whole plant and flower is barely 6" tall, but will form a dense mat of flowers as it replicates over the years. Whenever the sun shines, it will compete for with the sun for eye-popping brightness.

It has been quiet in Voltville, Raven. Planning a wedding is a big deal and a lot of work
Awsum, your volt cigalike with remote battery sounds very ambitious.
A horrible 23 degrees for a low this morning. One more horrible cold night tonight and it should be looking better.
Hubby and I have been pretty busy. Hubby is going to Fallon to cut Russian olive trees. He is doing it for free but he gets to keep the wood. He has also been cutting some giant willow out of a neighbor's yard.
We worked on the armoire we bought for $125. I will get a picture of it as soon as we are ready to move it in. Hubby clued a new, rather unfashionable but highly serviceable leg onto the corner that is broken. It is now level and it is re glued in all the corners so that it is much more stable. We ran out of time and energy so we will be bringing it in next weekend.
I pretty much just rested up yesterday. Hubby picked asparagus from our garden and I cooked it. Nice! That's a money maker since I would have bought it if it wasn't popping up in our yard
We measured and now have a basic plan for the shade cover and now we have to see how that will go over with our guy that will build it. He may have ideas or suggestions.
The weather was atrocious so my gardening buddy and I have not finished the chicken wire around the veggie garden.
The weeding around here is ongoing and I have several flower beds to weed still. I will have to take a photo of the desert outside our yard and then on of our yard. What a contrast. We have beautiful rice grass and virtually no cheat grass.
I have a big cleaning day today.

There is no need to cut the tube. I do it all the time without affecting anything.
Use an old 78mm carto, it's strong enough to pull out the 808 connector from the battery. You just hold the battery tube and press on one side the carto, then on the opposite side, it will go out 1mm and will be easy to pull out with pliers by grabbing the carto and pull. The old carto will be also pulled of it's connector but you can press it back or throw it away and use another one.
I don't even use pliers, if you do 2-3 then it will be easy, needs strong hands..
The device inside is not simply a switch, it has an asic inside, it only gives you 3.7V when active. To remove the asic without affecting the pressure sensor it's almost impossible. You have to cut open the sensor and it's a one time thing.

Thanks, Tritium, I'll give that a try since I have tons of cartos and CE3 bases hanging around. A much neater solution than chucking it in the drill press and cutting through the barrel.
I went to Lowes today to get some lumber, candelabra base LED bulbs and a four-way light switch. I want to have a switch for the basement lights near the Bilco door for convenience and it's already a three-way circuit so a four-way switch is needed. The first guy I asked at Lowes looked at me with a total look of befuddlement that changed, quickly, to "did you just land from Mars?". I had to explain what a four-way switch was. Lowes doesn't carry them, too complex, I guess, for most DIYers. I was going to stop at the local electrical supply, but ordered one online instead.

I'm doing OK, Lizzie. Sometimes I still can't believe Penny is gone. Since I boarded her, not seeing her around when I'm home seems pretty normal.
Right now, I'm trying to decide what of hers to get rid of and what to keep. There's a used tack sale coming up soon, so I have to decide and get ready for that. I don't know if I'll have another horse -- I probably won't buy another horse, but maybe someone will let me ride theirs, or I might half-lease or something. Then, would I need blankets and halters and such? Would they even fit the other horse?
My friend Mariah took me out for breakfast the other day, and on Saturday, we have a date for me to go groom her horses, just so I can hang out with horses. I'm sure hers will appreciate grooming, since It's shedding season. I'm not looking forward to coming home with horsehair all over me, though. I do love grooming horses. It's very calming and soothing for me. Something zen about it, I think.
Meanwhile, tutoring is going on as usual. I told the kids that Penny died, and they asked a lot of questions about it. They didn't seem very upset. After all, they only met Penny once, though they heard about her from time to time.

My nephews' bullmastiff does the same thing to me, except he lies down on my FEET to pin me down! Paws up, "ooh, rub my belly, rub my belly!"

Could grooming be an avenue for a part-time job, maybe? That might be a nice alternative to owning another one...

I took three 78mm autos apart using a CE3 base and a pair of needle nose. I do want the ASIC to control voltage delivered to the CE3 so that's no problem. The biggest problem is how to safely attach a cable to the 78mm body and still control air flow. I may hang a fuse on the battery just to be safe.
I was outside, weeding, and watched the better part of three quarters of a billion, that's billion with a "B", fly by. Three C-17s came in from the north and turned east, basically, right over our house, on final approach into McGuire AFB. Their altitude was probably about 2000 feet or so. Of course, the camera was in the house and my hands were really dirty anyway. It was amazing how closely spaced they were, maybe a half mile apart. At the speed they have to land at, probably around 150mph, that seems kind of close. Awesome sight, though. We hear them when they take off if the wind is out of the east and can feel them most of the time when as well, lots of power going on there. If there's an open house at Joint Base MDL this year, I want to visit and see our tax dollars on the ground and climb around in them. I was there, years ago, and sat in the pilots seat of a C5. You can't see anything on the ground in front of the plane closer than about 100 feet or more. That must be fun to taxi around with!
