Good morning, Voltpeeps.

You sound busy, Raven.

The farrier is coming today. Somehow we had a mix up [he sounded kind of frazzled when I talked to him yesterday]. Crystal is not going to get her lesson on hoof care but I told her he will be coming again in a couple of months.

The three of us gardening buddies got a lot of corn done yesterday. Robin will be back today to help do some more.

We caught two nasty pack rats near the freezer shed. We are working on the long shed now.

Beautiful photos, Lizzie. I especially like the Jonathan Livingston Seagull. Now I'm gonna have Neil Diamond's version of that these song in my head! Not a bad thing. :)

You sound busy too. As always.

Oh! Thanks Sandy! :) That's just the tip of the iceberg as far as what stuff I have. It takes forever to do the photography and then the listings. I'll be putting much, much more on there as time goes on. Even Wood Nymphs have to pay their bills. Just sayin'.

Sitting down, facing forward.
Two more comments of robotics -

A Chinese manufacturer just laid off about 600 workers. They've been replaced by robots.

A worker was killed by a robotic welder, skewered by a welding rod. The worker approached the robot from behind and attempted to align a sheet of metal. The robot was not aware of the worker because of being approached from behind.

I started wondering something this morning: why some animals have slits for eye pupils while others are round. I was thinking about drawing, and how a dog I drew some time ago had its eyes obscured by the flash used to take the photo I was using. Luckily, they had sent me another photo of the dog outdoors, which had a good view of its eyes, and I saw that the eyes were golden-colored, when I was assuming they were brown like most dogs. I'm glad I caught that detail. But then I started thinking of animal eyes and how horses have a pupil that's a broad, horizontal slit. Why the difference? People have round pupils like dogs, but cats have a vertical slit. Of course, if you're drawing an animal, it's important to get the correct pupil shape. It's something to be aware of. So I wondered if it had to do with being nocturnal or not. People and dogs are awake in daylight more, but horses see well in the dark and tend to be awake at night as often as in daylight. Cats are more or less nocturnal, too. So I Googled it, and here's an interesting article. Apparently, others have wondered about this, too. OK, here's an interesting photo, which was hanging over our booth at a restaurant where Bill & I ate dinner this evening.

What made me wonder was, first, how if the man was being towed by a car, wouldn't he slip off the blocks of ice? Then I thought maybe he wore crampons for ice climbing on his shoes. Would that work? Last, it occurred to me that maybe the whole thing was posed to fool the viewer, and he was just standing still on the ice with ropes attached to a parked car in his hands. Anyway, I liked the photo because it made me contemplate possibilities.

Kinda gives "ice skating" a whole new meaning doesn't it.

Good morning, Voltpeeps.

You certainly have questions about the ice block guy, SandySu. I think it is just a pose. What ..... would wrap ropes all the way around his hands to be pulled by a car? I wouldn't do that with my horse!

Another busy day. Supposed to be about a zillion degrees out. Okay, 98 degrees. I have to run to Fernley for a dentist appointment and I am going to the grocery store for lunch supplies.

We need to pick more beans.

Tomorrow we need to pick corn and veggies for Hubby's parents. Then we are running into Carson City for hay, some shopping and Costco for dog food.

I got some old wicker furniture that is in decent shape and very sturdy. I want to spray paint it seafoam green with spray paint. That will give it plenty of time to dry before the BBQ in a week and a half.

The big BBQ is coming up. I have a few more people to call and invite.

I am weeding out tumbleweeds still. I heard it rained heavily while we were on vacation and now some new weeds have come up.
