Anyone can create a job, except the Government. Even I did with my little business ventures, and I'm not in the 1% or even 50%, but the vast majority are created by the exact people that young woman wants to tax at 90% or more. She even alluded to taking all their income. How would that work out?

Then after they get their free education a house will be next. But wait, that house is bigger/nicer than my house. Now what? The same with a car. We all need housing and we all need cars, too. Then what about food and clothing, we all need them as well. My point being that one leads to the next with the law of unintended consequences taking ultimate control.

Hi gang. I'm so excited for you and the new pup, Lizzie. Be prepared for how small they are as puppies. When I first got Mac, he was 7lbs, I hardly knew what to do with him, lol. It was like having a guinea running around underfoot after having big dogs most of my life.

I'm staying out of the 1% convo, I will get into too much trouble.

The only thing I will say is, corporate greed. We went the old fashioned way with sending my boys to school, we planned ahead, then, we paid for it.

Yeah, Tritium you're a real $4it disturber, LOL.

Seriously, conversations like this are how things actually do change and are healthy. The big "trick" is to remain, at least, semi-civil and I hope I haven't offended anyone. It just frustrates me to see people make financial obligations then complain when they have to meet their end of the bargain. I didn't go to college because my sister did and there wasn't enough money left over for me to go. She was going for a degree in education. I'll never forget the look on my father's face when she got her degree in Philosophy at graduation. Unfortunately, since Socrates and Plato there hasn't been a big demand for philosophers.

The difficulty is in keeping conversations civil. I try not to take myself too seriously. I don't know everything unlike some of these online people who are sure they have all the answers to every problem and all problems can be solved by insults and mean spirited jabs.

Apparently, they don't feel they need to be the least bit humble or kind.

I'm pretty sure that people need to think through costs before they go to college.

moanin', Voltaticalytes.

The wind did me a favor! When I took Bo out for his morning constitutional it looked like I had cleared the leaves from a lot of the yard. There are some fairly deep drifts along the fences, but a lot of it has blown on to reside in other yards. It was frosty out there and that's a good thing since everything will dry out by noon so I can get out there, again, and wage the annual war.

The last lesson with the new girl, she read a story that mentioned someone playing the harp, and she didn't know what that was. I remember this happened with the original girl, too, and I emailed her the link to a girl about her age plying the harp. So now I tried to find that same video, and I did. I liked this selection because it shows the complete harp and how she uses the pedals. I wondered what the pedals did, so I looked it up, and they change the key, sort of like a capo on the guitar, I think. So tonight, I watched it again, as as YouTube seems to do these days, more videos followed.
the next is a 6-year-old girl who is really excellent, though the video isn't so well done, and the delay in the sound sort of bothered me. But look at that little girl! How do kids get so good in such a short time? Why are both girls Russian? Are there more musical prodigies in Russia? Coincidence? And then the 3rd video was a treat for me, since I'm very familiar with the Toccata & Fugue in D Minor by Bach. I was raised on it, since my dad practiced it at home on the piano and played it at church on the organ. When you overhear someone practicing, by the time they learn the piece, you've memorized it as well. So, if you want to see 3 extraordinary harp pieces, watch.

Why can't I edit that last message? I wanted to fix a mistake, where the paragraph starts lower case. Is it because of the video attached? So, my apologies. I hate publishing mistakes!
Sandy, you need to relax. Sometimes nowadays I intentiuonally put mistakes in my posts, just to tell people I am not perfect.

Oh, yes, I do that too! (That's my new story and I'm sticking to it!)

Sandy, if you don't want the next video to play automatically on YouTube, go to the little gear setting on the right side of the bottom bar and change it to auto play off.

Love it. There are few opportunities in Russia so this is a great way for people to succeed so kids are pushed hard to be musical prodigies. I read that somewhere years ago.

Once I put photos up, I am afraid to edit since it seems to screw up the entire post.

Good morning, Voltmaniacs.

The bread is in the oven, Hubby is delivering a load of wood and I have a meeting at 1pm to discuss the trifold flyer with the a water meeting board member.

I am anxiously awaiting the birth of some rat terrier puppies so I can send in my deposit and get a puppy on order. I have the envelope ready to mail.

Tutoring report.

The kids are doing well, especially the girls, but since I spoke to the original kids' mom several times, it seems the two longest students are doing their homework more thoroughly. My complaint was that they rushed through it. If it was multiple choice, they just marked any old choice if they didn't remember the answer, rather than going over the reading material to find the correct answer, which is always in there somewhere. If it was writing sentences, they made stupid mistakes that they could have easily found and corrected if they just read over what they wrote.

Last time, I gave the boy some really challenging reading about cells, and he did well, though he got things wrong. He really seemed to be trying, which is what I want more than perfection. I would like to see this boy become a doctor or scientist of some sort. I think his talents lie in that direction. But he needs to get over his sloppy, careless ways and learn to be precise, pay attention to everything, so he would be up to the diagnosis or research those professions demand. He's got a good mind, when he wants to use it, and he is interested in how the human body works and is put together. So I focus the reading comprehension things for homework on these subjects. Oh, if only I could get him really motivated and interested instead of just doing what he knows he needs to do if he doesn't want to get scolded!

The girl is plugging away at the Jungle Books. She is also learning about writing essays, which is apparently a very fearful thing in the yearly tests. I want her to write about ideas with 2 sides, like, are computers good or bad for kids? which she covered really well. Now she has to think up her own controversial subject and write about it. It can be anything, I said, like whether macaroni and cheese is better at lunch than hamburgers. We discussed a number of ideas, and I left her to decide.

The youngest boy has me flummoxed. Yes, he is slowly learning English, but not fast enough, I think. I've focused on him learning a word and him writing it, but he goes through the motions without really learning anything more than how to form letters, and even then, he still has trouble with things that can be backward, like p and q. I think he knows b and d by now. But today, he wrote an a with the long line to the right, not the left. I had him write a series of a's till I hope he remembers. We still can't converse. He still can only say, "I did my homework," or whatever. How do I get him to talk to me in a language he doesn't know? So tonight, after having him practically fall asleep looking at a book I read aloud, I decided on a new approach. I will sing songs to him. Let's see how that works.

The new girl is doing really well, better than the others. She always does her homework, and I think she may have come up about a half grade level in reading since I started with her. She said her teacher recently said how much her reading has improved. I challenged her today with a paper on the breeds of dogs. Last time, she didn't know the word "breed" and now she had read about them. As with the older boy, I warned there that the reading would be challenging. I also mentioned how if you don't stretch into the unknown, you never grow and learn more. I asked her if her mom shared the video about the harp, and she hadn't, so I suggested she remind her mom to check her email.
