{{{{Ducky}}}} I am so sorry for your Petrie.:cry:

That's actually the reason we don't have ducks anymore (though we are seriously considering them now). Fiance's nephew's dog (husky/german shepherd) killed them.

@awsum140 I hope that Bo's xray comes back clean. *fingers crossed*:nun::nun:
:) Thank you. I am sorry about your ducks aa well.

Ducks are really hard to keep alive. Everything wants to eat them. I will not pin them up to do so, because they are so much happier free roaming. I just do not like pinning up my chickens and ducks.

I love ducks and chickens. My neighbor got some chickens so I get to enjoy chicken sounds without having the chickens. Nice.

Good morning, Voltmaniacs.

I'm thinking about trying one of those mosquito zappers in the yard. We don't have lots of mosquitoes but we have enough!!!!

It is supposed to get to 84 today and 85 tomorrow and then go back down to the 60's and seventies. I am cooling off the house this morning and then closing the shutters to keep it cool.
Chickens are great entertainment too :) Mine make me laugh so hard. One of my hens is a setter (she is the only one I have that will set on eggs and hatch them), and she is setting right now...we dont have a rooster...lol I take her off the nest, and she just hangs in my hands. Then after I get her to stand up she will run off with her wings drawn out clucking, and then she will find something that is mine and start stomping it. Its funny, because she has been stomping my boots that are on my feet....lol

'moanin, Voltaticalytes.

Lizzie, if you get a mosquito zapper make sure it has some form of CO2 generator. That's one of the thing mosquitos uses to home in with.

We're supposed to get to the mid 70's today and finally have some sunshine, albeit with high, thin clouds. It's 79 already so I think they missed the high by a tad or two.

Mrs. Awsum keep talking about getting chickens. The first thing I mention is Bo who's a chicken connoisseur. Then there's the coop, feed water and, inevitable, chicken poop cleanup duties. Somehow, I don't think it's worthwhile for eggs to keep us supplied. We only use four or eight eggs a week. On the other hand, chicks are cute and the chicken could help with bug control. We don't have any ponds for ducks and I'm sure not going to dig one, line it, fill it and keep the water clean. Waaaay too much work!

When we first got chickens we started out with 3, and the cleanup was really easy for 3. We also got 3 eggs a day which was perfect for us. Chickens are great for bug control!

Willie seems okay. She ate breakfast eagerly. I think we will put off going to the vet and see if she continues to be okay. It is time to start closing up the windows and the shutters. I got the house about as cook as I can and I heard it will be 83 degrees today.

I think it is time to read a book on my patio in back. I need to relax and baby my arms.

Chickens really are funny and they make cool chicken noises.

I hear, though I have no experience, that chickens will decimate the tick population, so if that's a concern, get them.
They will! We dont find ticks around the vicinity of our house anymore. They are still around the property. We get ticks bad here! We live pretty much in the woods, and our dogs go in the woods so I do tick checks twice a day or whenever they come back inside. The good thing about having chickens is when I do find ticks on my dogs I just take them to the chickens and they eat them. My duck even eats ticks! Lol

I hit the wall Thursday and I haven't recovered so I called my client and told her I was taking the dog to the vet so I couldn't make it. She didn't sound real happy but too bad. I rarely cancel.

Willie was throwing up yesterday. I'm hoping she will be okay this morning, otherwise I am going to need to take her to the vet.

Today is going to be a day off for my arms!

It is supposed to be hot again today although yesterday wasn't horrible. It was 84 degrees.

Praying for Willie :)

'moanin, Volties.

We're kind of putting off the inevitable with Bo. He didn't really want to eat this morning and isn't drinking a whole lot either. I'll cook some fish for him, later, and see if we can get that into him.
My heart goes out to you guys. I really hope that Bo starts doing better.

Im glad she is doing better today! Yay!
Chickens make cool noises! My hen that sets and one of her babies from last year make a crazy screech like noise that sounds like a teradactyl! It is really funny.

I wanted to share this with you guys!
Im sure you all know how much I hate bugs! This year is the year of the Cicadas. They are a cousin to the locust, and they come out every 17 years. There are 13 year broods and 17 year broods. We get the 17year broods. It has started....

Those are the shells they come out of. They crawl out of the earth, up onto anything they are near, and they hatch out of those shells. I noticed the first 7 yesterday....and today I saw 12....and I got this picture of one of them this morning:

They are pretty lethargic right now, but once they gather their strength they will take flight, and they are sneaky lil things! They make a loud noise. I have been paranoid as heck outside! They only live for 4 to 6 weeks. Just enough time to eat stuff and mate. It is a very interesting cycle! Even though i am not big on bugs I have been very interested in them. Something you could only see 4 to 5 times in your life. Some areas get overwhelmed with them, and I told my Husband that if they get crazy here....I am not going outside!!

Sitting down, facing forward.
Glad to hear Willie is OK, it's never fun when pets get sick.

Bo is at rest now. It was a very difficult decision and thing to do, but the prognosis was not at all good. He was getting very weak and his breathing was very labored. Even the staff at the vet was in tears.

Awww, I'm crying, too. Rest in peace, big, beautiful Bo.

I'm sorry for your loss, Mr and Mrs Awsum.

OMG Awsum! My heart is hurting right now for you and Mrs. Awsum. There are no words I can say to keep that hurt away from you...

He is at peace now and so thankful to you for making that extremely difficult decision.
