I did a cube of concrete blocks in an F250 one time. Felt like I was floating going down the road and it felt like the manual steering was suddenly "Cadillac" style power steering, really light in a turn. It should handle the weight, just go slow! If you could bind the lumber together you could unload by backing up and stopping short. Unloading like that is an art unto itself though.

We will probably just unload manually:)

I'll be on the open 2 lane highway so I can pull over and let people pass me. The shoulder is firm and wide most of the way home. Traffic should be light on a Saturday. Yeah, it's certainly going to be the biggest load I have ever hauled.

Given that Murphy is my "friend", I'd double check in the morning, just to be safe. One never knows, do one?

Just came in from making 2/3 of a cubic yard of top soil, hauling it almost the full length of the yard, say 400 feet, dumping and leveling it. I played "tractor" for the hauling part, I need the exercise.

'moanin, Voltvillians.

Happy Father's Day to all the other Dads out there!

How'd you make out with that load of lumber, Lizzie? Inquiring minds want to know, especially that it went fine with no problems.

I'm not sure what we've done to get the weather we've been having. There was a two week period of cool and rain, but it's turned really nice. Another day scheduled today of temps in the 90 range with, for the NJ shore area, bone dry humidity and six feet of sunshine. It does get down into the 50-60 range at night, which is great though. Only need the AC in the afternoons with the peak heat.

I've been watching the weather in the Thessaloniki suburbs and the highs are in the same range, but don't cool off, like we do, overnight.

Y'all have a great day!

We are going hotter, too, Trit.

Happy Father's Day to all who qualify.

The load of lumber was heavy but fine. I decided, once the lumber was loaded, that I would have to come back for the concrete pavers. So I called my girlfriend who has a truck and she and I went back for the pavers.

Dealing with the store was a whole other issue. My order was not pulled despite the email saying my order was ready. I spent a bunch of time waiting for stuff to happen. It must have taken an hour and a half to get my load of lumber!!!! I never got a physical receipt although I do have my online order receipt in an email.

Then, I helped my girlfriend with her irrigation. Why is that she needs so much help with the irrigation system when apparently she already knows everything!!!! She kept telling me stuff like "It looks like this adapter will work." "It won't, that is pipe threads and this is hose threads." I told her it is very confusing with the female/male pipe/hose thread thing but then she was unhappy because you could still see some of the threads of the adapters. I told her it didn't matter. "That doesn't seem right." If it doesn't leak then I got it together right. Repeat five times. Explain header five times. Explain two ways to set up the lines. Five times.

Then, we are wrapping it up for the day without accomplishing quite as much as I wanted to and she says "What about my lilacs?" What??? We just did your lilacs. She goes to the other side of the driveway and says she needs her lilacs to be watering. That is a whole other zone. That has nothing to do with what we did today. How do you normally water them?

Over all it was a frustrating day

As long as the lumber load worked out in the end, Lizzie, it was a success in my book. Unfortunately, you still need to unload that lumber but you can unload onto the deck as you need it and only handle it once, if you can get the truck close enough that is.

Good morning, Voltpeeps.

We are diligently working on the new deck. We have 3 more stringers to go and then we can start placing boards on top. Hoping Hubby wants to get this finished up today!!! Cross your fingers for me.

It's already 85 degrees out and the horses are standing in their shade cover:) We are cooling off in the house before going outside again.

Good morning, Voltmaniacs.

Well, 98 degrees yesterday. Kind of sucked the life out of finishing the deck so hopefully we will get some more done this morning. All we have to do now is put the planks on top. Since that is about 50 boards, it will be a big job. We will just have to see how far we get.

'moanin, Volties.

We "only" managed 96 yesterday. Today is supposed to be around 90 with, maybe, some thunderstorms. That seems to be dying out as it moves toward us so maybe not.

Lizzie, are you nailing or screwing the decking down? When our deck was built they used button head, splined, nails and even they "pull", except when you want them to.

I want to use screws.

Hope they hatch! Need photos of cute, wet baby chicks:)
Me too!! I will definitely take pics! :)
I saw a black snake in my yard yesterday.....it was not a 5 to 6 foot one that I have seen in the past, but it was about 2 feet long. I let it go, but now I am super paranoid that what if it comes and eats my babies. Its head was only the size of the top part of my ring finger. I told it that I was going to let it go, and that it owed me the courtesy of not eating my baby chicks :) I hope it stays away, because it will not be as lucky if it eats my baby chicks. I just could not get myself to kill it yesterday.
