Stay warm Dale! As for me, I'm just trying to make it through this week! Spring break is next week! No work and no LOUD teens! As usual I have a long list of things to accomplish next week, of which I probably won't do! I am so ready to vegetate!
I might not get out of my PJs for a whole week! Well except for one day to hit all the vape shops in town!
Well off to work I go!

Oh! I like the sound of that last part!! ;)

Bet you are ready for a nice long break from those kids. I watched a class of 3rd graders once for a lady ... once was enough!

We'll be back up in the 60's later today ;)

G'morning, Dale ad Chili. :) This is my second awakening and it feels much better.

Dale, is so right about trying to manage a whole lot of mini people at one time. Takes a special person to do that, Chili, :) especially now with what I hear about behavior in the classrooms.

Good morning! (Yes. It really is me. In the morning. :D ) I just missed you all so much, I had to get on and say hello before I get started on things today. I reaaaally don't want to do the stuff I need to do today. I got a volunteer to help me paint the wall to wall bookcases this Saturday. My daughter in law offered to help with all my paint projects and that's the one she chose when I asked which she'd like to work on. Ha! She picked the one with the most prep work. I have to empty allllllll those shelves. Somewhere around a thousand books. I already got rid of a bunch, but think I'll cull some more. May as well since I have to move them anyway.

Chooch, hope the repair job is perfect and no more leaks! Our sky lights leak pretty bad now and I'd love to just remove them. The ceiling in the living room is a nightmare and is going to have to be replaced one of these days (like a few years ago.) Hopefully before it falls down on my head.

Ms.C - That headline! People are crazy! Impersonating the FBI... barefooted?? I'm so glad the woman is fine.

Chili - enjoy Spring Break! Maybe you need to get another pair of stretchy pants in case you get bored of staying in your pj's all week. ;)

Those 3rd graders wore you out, eh? lol
I was a room mom for my sons 2nd and 3rd grade years... especially 2nd. I worked in the class a few times a week. 2nd graders are terrific. At least they were back then. They were still small enough that they hadn't learned how to be rude and uncooperative like the bigger kids. ;) His school had a great principle at the time though.
I used to go eat lunch with my son fairly often and it was actually a pleasure! She played classical music during lunch and the rule was that you spoke softly so that everyone could hear the music. (It played quietly in the background.) It was a 'fine dining' experience. If she couldn't hear the music over the kids, she would get their attention and they would immediately quiet down. I consider her a genius just for that. lol Eating with my daughter at the Jr.High was awful! It was so loud and rowdy in there, it made your head spin. I think eating with a pack of hyenas would be preferable.

Hope you all have a great day! I'm off to start the book project.

Wow! Morning surprise from Kayte. Ha! So happy it's your on-going "projects" keeping you so busy and you and Doug are still breathing. Sounds like your DIL is a very wonderful person.

When I don't hear from my "kids' for a while, I have these horrid scenarios that pop up in my imagination! Since busy people stay busy and their time flies by and retired people's time slows down enough to actually "mark" time, there seems to develop a "time warp"!........ "Mom, I called a couple of weeks ago!" "Daughter, that was last month." "Oh....." Got to marking conversations on calendar so we both can keep track. Ha!

We did replace our leaky skylights a couple of years ago. Finally just went ahead an sprung the bucks for the super duper ones instead of the plastic domed ones. Rained all day yesterday and so far no leak from chimney. Will take some time before the inside of the fireplace to dry out. Then we will have to figure out what to do to repair. :(

Dale, I wasn't ill. I just got up at 2 a.m. again, spent 4 hrs. up, then caught some more z's. Watching this cute married couple on HGTV renovate run down houses for new owners, put me to sleep.......I dreampt of painting walls. Ha! :)

Hi guys...have been super busy again this week...so much going on at home and at work...and now I find myself in a quandary...things with my son and his wife and have gotten worse and now I'm faced with having to make the decision whether to file for guardianship of my granddaughter.

I just don't know what to do...we've found out that her mom has moved the guy she kicked my son out for into the house, along with another couple and their kid, and has moved the baby in her room with her and the guy...he's a druggie who has warrants out supposedly and according to her own sister, she's been doing drugs ever since my son left. My son had said she had been smoking stuff before, but now it's worse from what we hear.

My son went to get his daughter today and while he was there he said the oldest boy was home from school. According to others, she's not bathing the kids and leaving them in their rooms all day and night while she's doing whatever. I'm concerned from my granddaughter's safety, but I don't know for sure how accurate this information is. I do know my DIL has a past drug history, admitted by her, so it's possible.

I just don't know if I'm up to taking care of her full time though...I don't want to sound selfish, just being honest...my boss is ready to file the papers if I decide to go ahead with it, but I'm still torn...Sorry for the long post...just needed to vent a little.

    Well, here's another one, Angel. {{{hugs}}} :)
Good grief, sounds like your DIL's place ought to be "raided".......But what to do with grandbaby? I wish I could help you there, but have no experience. Perhaps there's some kind of counseling service out there to guide you?

I'm with dale.... Oh angel!!! Huge hugs from me, too. And no... you didn't need to vent a little. You need to vent a LOT! I don't have an advice either. I know that if sweet little angel is in danger, you'll do whatever you have to do.
It's almost like you need someone undercover to get in there and find out what it's really like.
Thinking of and praying for you for the whole mess.

Doug altered my painting plan, so I'm working on dresser instead of emptying bookshelves. (I'm relieved!) I better get back to it.
