Splat... what an incredibly horrible event to have happen in your life. This is no 'pity box'. This really REALLY hurt and shocked and every other awful thing life throws at us. I'm relieved with you that that whole part was just a legal thing and that all is okay on that end.

Hopefully a new job will happen soon, but in the meantime, you've got some mourning and healing to do. I'm so glad you came and shared with us.

Thank you so much my friends the hugs are so very much needed and appreciated. To the shock of suddenly loosing her I also stood there all of a sudden without a job and the residential complex she lived in has a bedside manner that leaves a lot to be desired. The literally kicked me out of her place, I could not even say goodby to her then left me sitting in the lobby by myself for what seemed like endless hours of waiting to make statements to the police.
When her relatives arrived and invited me to meet with them, I was told at the gate that I was not allowed on the property. The came personally down to get me.
I still feel like someone clobbered me over the head, someone finally came and explained to us that it was a legal thing, I still think they handled it very poorly.

Her relatives are as wonderful as she was, so a lot of my fears were laid to rest.

I'm sorry for the vent I'll get of my pity box now.
Don't even start with the "I'm sorry for venting" thing!!! That's what friends are for!
So sorry you had to experience all that :(

Kayte, how you're refinishing now, I did to a NON antique bedroom set about 18 yrs ago. It was my first bedroom set from first marriage. and in what was a "Spanish" style. Took all the Spanish off, stripped faux finish to lighten "wood" color.

The chest of drawers were painted in the faux, crackle antique style, the 3 drawers behind doors were discarded and inside gutted, painted and a sliding shelf for keyboard attached. Ta dah! Computer center. Inside the doors corked. Outside the doors grass cloth glued and edges trimmed with scrunched cloth on rope to match comforter to bed.

The dresser has a door in middle to hide 3 small drawers and I took out it's panel leaving only the frame. Took material that matched spread and made a gathered "curtain" for insert. The mirror was painted a color that matched comforter and antiqued with a dull gold.

Curtains were done from sheets matching comforter.

Although I was and still am pleased how it all came out,......I never will do this again. Ha! :)

Splat - I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend and boss. Words are never enough but thanks for sharing with us for a virtual hugzzzzzzzz. Give yourself time to heal and grieve.

Angel - so sorry for what you're going through with the baby too. Have you made any decisions on what to do? I totally get where you're coming from, probably all of us do, and I don't think you're having selfish thoughts at all. My sister ended up with guardianship and later an adoption of her granddaughter and she's starting all over. I'm not sure I could. Hugzzzz to you too!

Gorgeous tips Kayte. I love the clay tips and that clay on holly reminds me of the one I won on the auction we had a while back. I still haven't found my straight blue tip and istick. :(

Thank you to Chilly, I does help a little to be able to get it out that way I can leave it behind me.

Kayte your right it will take some time to grieve and heal, which is something I had planned on doing after my husband passed away but then there was Bossypoo that needed me and time passed this time I will take the time to reflect and heal and get some much needed rest.

The wonderful thing is that I have friends here on the Mountain I can come and visit here even if I can't purchase anything and commiserate the losses and celebrate with the winners of there new piece of mini art.:)

Dang, Ms.C. :( My heart was in my throat one time when I thought I lost my setup at one of our meets. Dumped my whole purse out right on the "stage platform" before finding it. Wouldn't budge until I did. Hubby was trying to find a way of hiding while I looked for my favorite purple, mauve designer tip that matched a woman's hair that night.

Got it pulled for you chooch! Thank you!
Thank each of you that got a tip. ;)

Chooch... sounds like you did an amazing job on your project. Wish I could see it!
Doug thinks the frame of the dresser needs to be painted. (We don't have the same taste on a lot of things. :D ) I may end up painting it, but right now, I'm liking the combination of the new and old blended together on it. If he wants it painted, he'll have to do it himself... and I know that's not happening. ;)

What was in the bundle under the dresser? You guys make me laugh. Well... there were old photos. One of my sister, Debbie when she was a baby (she was an adorable baby!), one of my grandmother, along with her obituary on a bookmark. Have you ever heard of such a thing?? Not sure whose idea that was.
There was an envelope with quite a few love letters from Doug. :hubba:  :pervy: There were some things my kids had written when they were little that had me laughing out loud. Oh! And my 'bean necklace that my daughter made for me when she was tiny. I'd wondered where that had gotten to. Why this stuff was under there, I have no idea! But it was quite the little treasure trove and completely sidetracked me from what I was supposed to be doing. Oh well... the work will still be there tomorrow.

Splat... did you leave any crumbs of that cake?

Qew - since splat ate all of the cake dale brought, maybe you have some pie? Pie and friends fix everything. ;)
