I've looked at sqounkers a few times but never used one. this might be a great tank for it

I agree. I was looking back in the thread and didn't find any mention of any body posting that they have tried the V2 in Squonk mode. If it works out good on a Squonker then that would make this one of the most versatile RTA's to date, in my opinion at least. Then the next question would be, Which Low Cost/Good Value/High Quality/Regulated Squonk Box to buy ??

Forgive me, but I don't understand why you would want to use it as a squonker?
Surely it defeats the purpose, I mean getting an RTA is so that you get capacity and don't need to drip, but you sacrifice a bit of flavour. Getting a squonker is so that you can get the performance of a dripper along with the capacity of a tank, at least in my mind.

Anyway, I got a black Cthulhu V2 yesterday (cheers sis) and so far it is pretty damn great.
Sooooooo easy to build on, wicked perfectly first time (4 fills so far and no leaks or dry hits), it has made using tanks a pleasure again (after using the PITA that is the Aqua v2 for the last year).

Dual twisted 27 AWG spaced coils, 0.2ohms @65W, pretty tasty clouds. I am a restricted lung hitter so the airhole is only open between a quarter and a fifth of the way.

The juice control ring thing is slightly stiff, but I would rather that than it being loose. The only downside so far is that the black does not match the black of my sig 150w, shiny as opposed to matt. I will probably get over it though.

I have not done a taste test vs rda yet (magma single coil), but I will do it when I can be bothered to wash out and rewick one or the other of them.

All in all I am impressed with the Cthulhu V2 so far, just so easy to use and well made.

I was actually thinking of the Hastur v2, which they're just releasing, that has a squonker pin, not the rta. very good point! glad you're enjoying the rta, it's my favorite tank by a long shot.

Yeah I am quite surprised to be enjoying it as much as I am, I did see some negative reviews, so the old doubts crept in prior to using it. Nearly went with the crius, but the extra capacity and (maybe) larger build deck swung it for me.
The Hastur makes more sense :)
I am leaning towards my next big buy being a squonker mod (maybe the Coppervapes tmod clone or a VKiwi original), some bottom airflow rda (like the freakshow mini, but with better posts would be ideal) would be my preference.

Until then I might have to pick up some more of the Cthulhu V2s...

I forgot to take pictures of my first build on the dual coil deck but thats ok I will next build. About time I tried the Cthulhu again, have had this thing since the week of Thanksgiving! Guess I was just a little frustrated tried one build on the single coil deck and had a bunch of dry hits and also the fact that I have an Aromamizer that has kept me busy and a Crius that is collecting dust as well LOL(thats my next project getting that thing up and running without leaking!). Anyway so far not so bad, went with 24G Kanthal, 7 Wrap, 2.5mm ID, coming out to somewhere near 0.3 Ohm. Rayon Wick and I did the Angled Cut to get rid of 50 percent of the tails, then I trimmed a little bit more leaving just barely some small strands of Rayon into the channel. I then screwed the wick ring onto that to keep everything secure and in place.

Too early to tell if I did well or not, I got some good clouds and the flavor was decent, however early on I could just be vaping the primer juice that I used to saturate the rayon before screwing the chimney and tank over the deck. Need to have about 50 or so puffs before I'll know if Im in dry hit city or not. I can tell you vaping 24MG Nic on this thing is pretty strong. Back around October I was vaping 40MG on the Billow V1 and the Orchid V6. Now Im down to 18MG on the Aromamizer and 24MG on my other tanks. First thing I noticed was the wonderful airflow on the Cthulhu, have the airflow adjustment wide open and thus far havent had any leaks whatsoever other then when I first filled it and popped my drip tip into the top cap.

I'll keep you all posted, fingers crossed... I had high hopes for this thing when I preordered it back around Halloween.

IMO it's easier to build on and much more rewarding than the aromamizer, which is a decent tank but the cthulhu v2 is better in every respect, at least for me...the one exception might be build quality, the aromamizer's is very good, and the cthulhu's is just good...but all around it kicks .....

yea the Cthulhu is definitely the highest quality tank I own. Im about to try it again for the 2nd time. This will be the moment of truth if im in for dry hits lol. One thing however I like about the Aromamizer and all the dripper tanks is you can use less nicotine and still feel it plenty. I sort of consider RDTA's in another category completely for that reason. Really liking the big airholes on the Cthulhu though.... so far I feel like the airflow is as good or maybe better than the Aromamizer. See how cloud production and flavor are when I try it. May have to come back to troubleshoot some issues, hopefully not though, I mean I got through about 20 puffs so far without any leaking with Airholes wide open so thats at least a good sign :)

Guys

I am having trouble with wicking

First I dipped the wick tails into the juice channels

Then I sat them just hovering on top of the holes

Still I vape my wick bone dry

I have the juice control wound all the way to the bottom

Did fill the tank to the brim though, but with my lung hits tank should vacuum ok

Lucky I have a SS build set up right so no burnt cotton

But I have to remove the build and drip on it after every few hits :-x

Hold your tank in front of you, below your face, and Looking down as if to look thru the drip tip, turn the juice control Clock Wise to turn juice OFF (or close your juice control), OR, turn your juice control Counter Clock Wise to turn juice ON (or open your juice control).

Its fully open, as I pulled it apart to check

Only using 70vg/30pg

Cant see why its not feeding the wick

Check to see that you don't have too thick a wick in you're coil, it's easy enough to get too much in there. I put in enough to have moderate tension in the coil as I slide my wick back and forth, also don't put too much wick tail in the juice slots as that will chock off the juice, or as some do, just lay you're wick tails on the deck just behind the juice slots (maybe fold the tails under, back towards the coil, in a side ways U).

Thanks but I already re-wicked a lot looser to illuminate that

The only thing I have not tried yet is taking some juice out of the tank to allow it to go into a vacuum easier and feed the juice

I made up this and a billow v2 nano the same at the same time and that's been fine, on about its 5th re-fill

Chucked it in the filled with juice tank stand for now but will give it another crack the weekend as it was doing so well at first

Will pull some juice out and wick it like my Aromamizers with the tails fluffed up and just touching the juice channels

I forgot to ask if you were using the Single coil deck or the Dual coil deck. I use the single coil deck and just assume that's what Ya'll are using, My Bad I guess.

A friend and myself both have one of these coming to us. We will be building on the single coil deck. I'm pretty excited about receiving this and seeing how it performs.

It's a fun RTA, at least I think so. It's a bit different to wick than my Lemo's and now my new Big Buddha mini are, not harder by any means, just a bit different to get used to. You'll have fun getting it going, I know I did, now I have 2 (1 Stainless and 1 Black).
