Sometimes you just have to chase down those prospective Rayonati converts. :sneaky: :p

"Rayonati", I like that term, it sure fits  . I have yet to re-try my hand at Rayon and an rta again, I always got too much and muted my juice, or too little and got that "Hot Coil" taste (never a burned cotton taste though). I'm just liking what I'm getting from KGD (now that I have figured that one out) and am too comfortable right now to try the Rayon again (though, I do use it successfully in my Magma Authentic in a single coil configuration :thumb: ), but will at some point do a Repeat on the rta and try that again.

That reminds me, @52anddone, have you heard the word of Rayon today or do I have to stalk you, too? :nun: ;)

To be truthful, this is the ONLY thread that I visit daily where I hear the word Rayon. Thats good, as it helps keep it at the front of my mind, and not forgotten (sometimes my memory retention matches that of a 5 year olds). at "do I have to stalk you, too? :nun: ;)"

I re-wicked using a sample of rayon an ecf pal sent me awhile back. :2cool:
I was having an issue with the juice flow control ring, so I removed it. Tank is vaping like a beast now! :vapor:

If I have to convert to rayon to get this tank working it will be free to a good home

It seems other folks get it to work with cotton. :thumb:
Mine may have been the juice flow control. I won't know until I try the rayon with my two other finicky tanks. ;)

my two work fantastically with cotton. i don't use the juice control ring at all anymore on the dual coil deck. i've described my technique ad nauseum in this thread but it really is flawless.

I hear that I do storm. Agree completely.

Got this tank yesterday, new vaper, so have never wicked and coiled before, coiling is the easy part, but wicking, o boy, is that not an art? 3rd wicking now ever, dry hits 30w with 5s inhales 0.53ohm singe coil ss 316L, is that normal? used the pancake mod now, and it is better, before it dry hitted even at 25w. Im finding this should not be the case. Seen the "good" people on the tube going 50-60w with even higher ohms. Im finding it a bit tedious :) So I guess wicking really is an art afterall?. Is my watt ok for this kind of resistance? I reccon I could go higher than 30W without dry hit with 0.5? When I see guides wicking it really looks like they are using more cotton that I do, and they are chain vaping their ... off :)

perhaps the single coil has it restrictions on this tank? I see most people more or less never use it in this mod, I have removed the wicking ring and the juice ring as I've seen its not working correctly with the single deck. Maybe I have reached the max point at 30w? 10 wraps 24awg SS. 3mm ID. When it was real bad I had what I thought not that much cotton just half down the channels, now it is a pancake as I mentioned and barely reaches down, still not leaking though. thats a positive, at first it was with my first wicking, but then i had alot more cotton down the channels. Edit: withdraw posting a bit, a heavy draw at even 26w getting me burned hit, and GOD is that not nice ............ man I've checked so many guides on wicking, is it this hard? last wicking I was taking care of the wick like a baby. like 5-6mm cotton with, scottish rolled it a tiny bit, was tiny tention in it, then pancaked it. with enough not touching., Im glad this tank does not need to be emptied for checking wick. After some more, (even more than before) reading I've found a lot of people having problems with the single coil deck? and dry hits, seems it is not that good for lung hits and more or less made for weaker pulls. I'm goin to try the velocity deck and dual and see how it feels, if not, prob going to look for another tank, I know Im a bit short lived on stuff :) maybe my cup of tea is dual coil, and not the "smaller" single coil lung or MTL hits? I'm new as I mentioned, but perhaps single coil isnt enogh for me? I was totally satisfied with the crown 0.25ohm dual coil and it was far from overwhelming for me.

Well I like this tank so much I decided to get another from elev8vape.com for $33 and change shipped for another black one to add to my collection. This is such a great tank once it's all said and done. ☺

And to the guy above me, I think you might just be pushing too many watts into that wire at least IMO. I use SS also and you actually have to crank the watts down because SS seems to heats up faster, one reason I like it, extends my battery life. But also take into account in not a big cloud chaser. Good luck.

Got there in the end, just need the AFC closed down to get the juice to flow

It will now keep up with chain vaping, but I prefer an airier draw

Will build the single coil deck later & donate it to a tootle puffer that's popping in

Pics of your build please...

It may well be that you have too much cotton, which obviously when stuffed into the channels will restrict the juice transit.
My builds are around 2mm ID (3.4mm OD or so) and with my cotton ball wicks I don't have to taper the ends or anything to go in the wick channels, just cut to length and tuck in behind the ring.

Have not tried either ss coils nor single coil deck, but in theory the wicking issue should be the same if dry hits are the problem. The airflow should be plenty big enough for lung hits in single coil mode, just suck like you love it.

@Bella Chic have you got yours yet? Any thoughts? (You may kick yourself for not getting the black one first)

Hey hey, I've not gotten mine yet. Probably Monday it will probably be at the post office tomorrow the way my luck is but I won't be able to get it till Monday. BUT...I am using the Black one my friend ordered, he got his in the other day and brought it to work last night and let me tinker and play so I've been using it since last night. I have the juice flow wide open with a 28g single coil, 2mm, 1.5 ohms running it at 10w, airflow fully closed and getting dry hits every few draws. I will think with it some more this evening at work and see what's going on but I really do like it, just gotta work out the kinks.

Hey :)
The single coil deck seems to be a right pain in the buttocks!
Pardon my vulgarity, but do you see bubbles rising when you suck on it?
You are a lucky lady having a friend that will let you play with his black one, he must be a little crazy or something, giving up his new toy.
Apologies for the double entendres, I am probably still drunk...

Anyway, I am sure a simple solution will pop up, I am almost tempted to give the single coil deck a try myself ('almost' being the operative word).
Have you tried the removal of the juice control ring? (I assume they mean the inner silver part rather than the outer black ring? It may mean you have to bottom fill though to prevent filling leakage?)
I would offer to pop round to take a look, if there wasn't a 12hr flight involved that is.

Hey Double, well I've got a whole 12 hour shift to play around with it. My friend is pretty darn awesome I must say. He's got my Calix right now and is enjoying it, so he's letting me tinker, which is really kind. I've been trying to help him as best I can with this whole vaping thing. Trying to find what will work best for him. So, I ordered the same tanks he did, we will both have the Calix (his will be a clone for the time being), Cthulhu and SQuape Reloaded Clone plus one other RTA that I bought both of us as kind of a surprise for him so I don't want to name it in case he peruses this board and sees what I wrote, but I'm hoping out of these few tanks we come close to finding something that works really well for him.

Both of use are single coil vapers, we just don't like dual coil builds. with that said, tinkering and playing is always fun so It's probable that a dual coil build will be made just for the hell of it and to see how it performs as well in each tank that will allow for a dual coil.

I just want to get this single coil performing at its best first.

Wow! I feel I need to up my 'friend game' after reading that!
I understand the whole single coil thing, I still use single coils in my Magma (yes, I still use it), sometimes you don't need big clouds (especially here in the UK). However, it really feels anemic after switching from the Cthulhu in dual coil mode.

You and your friend have some decent flavour tanks, I am sure he will fall in love with at least one of them. You may be playing with fire in dabbling in dual coil action, you may develop a taste for it, start a YouTube channel blowing 'sik cloudz' @0.01ohm with Hell's Gate mech mods...etc

Anyway yes, tinkering and playing is indeed always fun :)
I hope you figure it out at work this eve and pass on the knowledge (to him and us).
