Alcohol percentages vary by source, typically showing 60-80% is most effective, under 50% is slower and over 80% loses effectiveness as a certain amount of water is needed in order for it to work. I've decided to keep it simple, just like the PG in my main mix - 2/3 works for me.:)

as i understand it, vigorous hand washing with any soap at all is superior to
    alcohol sanitizer.
Absolutely. I just carry the sanitizer in my car (I've done that since before coronavirus, use it after things like pumping gas.)

a trip to the liquor store can fix you right up!!

Since Pennsylvania has CLOSED ALL Bars...and ALL State Liquor Stores...hand sanitizer will probably return to the shelves...before we have access to the alcohol to make it!!??!!

That's wild. Can you still buy booze at supermarkets and so forth?

If anyone can't find the 90+ alcohol, a trip to the liquor store can fix you right up!! I put it in spray bottles for sanitizing surfaces and I also put some in the little soft plastic ejuice bottles for my husband to carry in his pocket at work.
Many states have an upper limit of 75.5% alcohol in "spirits". You'll still find Ever Clear there, but it will be 151 proof rather than 190.

It seems you are unfamiliar with Pennsylvania's arcane laws regarding alcoholic beverages. ;)

I was. Just checked it out on Wiki. All I can say is Bloody Hell.

Seriously, they can't actually expect to shut down alcohol consumption completely for the duration. Can they? By the time CV went away there would be speakeasies and bootleggers and gangsters running the State.

I checked out their vaping laws too. A 40% tax that shut down 30% of vape shops before it was repealed and replaced with a smaller tax, and a flavor ban in the works. I thought Indiana politicians were bad but these guys have their own brand of Nanny going on.

America: More guns, less booze. Everywhere else, less guns, more booze.
Actually, that combination makes some degree of sense. (And there really isn't a lack of booze either, as I'm sure you know being in Indiana)

Many of us have plenty of VG around. Also hand sanitizer is hard to find. So is aloe vera gel.

I got this off the WHO website, they had a 10L recipe for hospitals, so I scaled it down to 1 or 2 liter batches. I added a few drops of some essential oil for fragrance.

Too bad they didn’t leave spaces for flavors in their Excel calculator.

You can also find Rectified Spirits. It’s over 180 proof, essentially 95%, which is about as good as you can do for alcohol unless you need even less water in it for say lab work.
